    That really is exceptional value.

I'd probably take them up on the 3GB memory upgrade for $45 as well if you're buying.

EDIT I just checked the Lenovo site, the current equivalent with which the only difference seems to be a slight change in the chipset and type of RAM which would have virtually zero performance impact… the price with Office SBE is $1,702.25. That's a damn good deal.

EDIT2 Downside - no optical drive listed.

Which means it's likely the same as this: http://www.umart.com.au/pro/products_listnew.phtml?id=10&id2…

So only a good deal if you really need SBE with it.

  • can I just get the PC by $138?

  • So how do you choose to not buy the software?? The website didn't not have an option that I could see to bring the value down.

    Please help

    • You can't.

The poster is using the subtraction thing as a selling point, but it's a bundle deal and you can't remove it.

My link above to umart is as cheap as you'll get it.

    • You can't.

The poster is the vendor. In the above calculation he's assuming that you would have otherwise bought the retail editions of the software at full price, to justify your "saving".

What he probably isn't making clear is that these editions are OEM editions, which of course is correct, fine and legal. However he, or Leveno, are definately not what they are supplied to them for from Microsoft.

There is nothing wrong with the above calculations, he's just using RRPs to make the deal seem to you like you're getting a "bargain". You're only really making those savings if you were going to buy the machine, a retail version of Windows and a retail version of Office seperately.

It's a good deal regardless. Hardly worth -ve vote.

        • I gave it a negative vote for the misleading description making you think you got more than you actually did. Feel free to negatively vote my comment if you feel different.

      • Vista Home Basic OEM Installed + CD
Microsoft Office 2007 Small Business Edition (SBE) MLK

MLK = MediaLess Kit aka OEM

And where does it state RRPs? Cheapest on staticice is never RRP -_-

If you don't need Office SBE just buy the $299 system from uMart or OLC ( http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/product_info.php?products_i… )

The $299 system from OLC says 2gb DDR2 Ram in the drop down box but only 1gb in the title… ? Would be a nice deal if it is indeed 2gb included in the $299 price :)

  • This is a fantastic deal, really unbelievable. Some companies would charge you $478 alone for the on-site warranty!

You could even sell MSO SBE if you wanted to, one sold on eBay recently for $289 dollars. $478 - $289 = $189 for the PC.

Then again you could save yourself the hassle and buy from Umart for $299, which is still a very good deal.

Almost wish I needed a budget PC like this. It would make an excellent file server or backup server. Make it a HTPC by adding a cheap video card (PCI-Express upgradeable).

  • This is very cheap and delivery fee is very reasonable. On the other hand, you get quite a slow processor (still very reasonable for the price though). Good if u need office, the pc can be a back up server. Anyway, just in case people don't know, u can always torrent office 2007 for less than 20 mins though ^^

I agree with your comment right up to the torrent part, of course you can get it illegally but if you're running a Small Business why on earth would you use pirated software? Seriously, either cough up the money or use a freeware/open-source program, it's not hard.

  • are the software boxed editions or just plastic oem?

  • I saw Vista Premium at Kmart Sylvania for $79 last week. Heaps of stock

    • Can you take a photo for me? It's the OEM version right?

  • Can anyone confirm that the software are in genuine retail packaging or just included on a "recovery" CD? I plan on reselling the software. Cheers

    • +1

      It's not retail software.

It's OEM. And with Office that means it doesn't come with a CD.

      • Does it come with a windows CD?

  • Does anyone have a link to this Lenovo PC - Online Computer call it a small/mini PC but how 'small' is it compared to normal desktop PC?

Here's the full specs of what looks like the same or a similar model: http://www5.pc.ibm.com/no/products.nsf/$wwwPartNumLookup/_SBYB4NO?open&OpenDocument&epi=web_express

      Weight & Dimensions
      Weight: 7.3Kg
      Height: 99mm
      Width: 317mm
      Depth: 355mm

So it's about a foot, by a foot, by 4 inches.

  • Even though the prices are attractive, be aware of the terms and conditions. If the product is Dead On Arrival, shipping and handling costs are not refundable, and buyers have to return the DOA products at their own expense.

I purchased a notebook computer from this site after seeing them on OzBargain. It was DOA, and contacted them within 3 working days to arrange a replacement, only to hear I have to pay for the return postage.

If items are DOA, most often sellers offer full refunds and bear the return postage, and OnlineComputer is different. Therefore, my -ve vote is to notify fellow OzBargainers that if you decide to buy from OnlineComputer, be aware of their DOA 'Terms and Conditions', so that we know risks we accept in order to get a better price.

Below is from their web site:

    http://www.onlinecomputer.com.au/policy_delivery.php?osCsid=…

Product Return/Refund/D.O.A (Dead On Arrival Product)

Shipping and handling costs are not refundable.
    …..

please note that customer will be held responsible for any freight charges incurred for returning the product.
    …..

DOA (Dead on arrival) items are eligible for refund or an instant replacement from our stock. Failure to report DOA item within 24 hours upon receiving the good will result in you not being able to claim the item as a DOA.

    • This is normal with online companies. Either way you can take the unit to their Sydney location for D.O.A.

Same as any other store. If you have a problem with a product - you take it back to the store. If you decide to buy from a store that is very far away - then you have to organise to go very far away to get your product repaired / replaced.

      Standard stuff.

    • DOA shipping costs should not be at the buyers expense. I give a -ve just for this !

  • DOA is blah blah blah… good deal!!!
