  • Cheap enough but are they any good?

who cares, its 1$ the postage would make up most of it! if it dies in a month its still worth it.

      • i thought the same thing with one of their previous deals. Mine did not last one day. Good luck.

Yep, people should check out the link. I did not even get 1 day out of my Shopping Square cables and adapters. Then I figured it would cost me more than the cost to chase up a replacement. Buyer beware.

      • may have just been a bad batch.

  • I don't blame shopping square for the quality of these cables. It's a stupid design. Both of my apple cables have failed and I'm now going through these 'consumable' cables at around one every 3 weeks.

Lightning cables are the stupidest design ever! I'm a big iPhone fan because it just works for me, but the stupid lightning cable design is almost enough to make me switch to either windows phones or android.

I know if they don't change it when I need to buy my next phone, then there's no way my next phone will be an apple.

    • Seems fine for me :/

If your Apple cables failed, why didn't you just swap them out at an Apple Store rather than buying these crappy knockoffs?

Our household has had absolutely zero problems with any official Lightning cables, all of which are from launch day.

The crappy knockoffs, on the other hand, are another story. I bought a two $4 ones from an OzB deal, they broke within a month. I then bought 4 from Kogan since they had a 1 year warranty, then they all died and then their warranty replacements were either DOA or died shortly thereafter.

Meanwhile other shoddy lightning cables sold by CoTD and Scooopon have been recalled outright for overheating and posing a fire danger.

In addition, iOS 7 now warns you when you plug in a cheap knockoff cable.

The official cables might be overpriced, but you get what you pay for, they are much better quality.

      • We have about a dozen lightning cables in our family. 2 are official (came with iPhones) and the others are all 'whatever was cheapest at the time' (starting at $8 posted down to $2 posted, mostly from DX). We travel a lot, use the cables in a number of places (charge from an aldi brick, in the car etc) and none have failed. None.

I don't understand why one wouldn't return genuine Apple cables to a store. The ridiculous price they retail for obviously includes a significant support cost.

  • Free postage , with replacement

paypal protection makes it worth the risk

      • Not really, I don't know where they sell from but if a seller is in Victoria then the buyer had to pay the return shipping for a replacement. If the seller says as much in the dispute and offers the replacement on that basis, the dispute will be decided in favor of the seller almost every time.

Doesn't even protect you against non receipt, butter needs to lodge a claim with Australia post. Not sure what the rules are in the other states but I imagine that's be similar

truth is if you gona buy a dodgy cable u midas well spend 1$ than 10$.. otherwise get one from APPLE for 35$

I GOT 5… one has to be good!

    • I got 5 from them last time too.
One came dead on arrival, another one stopped charging after a few weeks and just recently the third one started playing up.
It keeps charging then stopping, charging then stopping, as if the cable is loose but it's not.

Down to the last 2 now.

      • did they replaced em?

        • I actually couldn't be bothered asking for replacements, just went and grabbed the next one from the pack.
Hopefully these final 2 last a bit longer.

  • 168 sold - ppl are taking the punt

  • I've got several of these, and just bought 3 more. Hey if they last 3 months each, then I'm still way ahead. And in the meantime, I've got charger cables for each car, and the chargers around the house.

If I'd done that with authentic ones, it would be a couple of hundred dollars. $5 vs $140 for 4 cables?

I know iOS7 nags, but that's still 3 months off, and I can handle the nag. It still charges fine.

Just my 2 cents. Round down as you see fit :)

    • I think they are clearing these out because the generic cable guys are probably trying to figure a way around that nag (eg to add whatever the genuine cable has that removes the nag in their next batch)

  • I bought some last time and they have been fine when I haven't lost them.

I bought two to go with my banggood external chargers (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/104630)received yesterday

  • Got 2, thanx. Not too optimistic about these considering how long the last one worked for..

  • I don't understand. maybe someone can enlighten me.

If they are selling at $1.17 (60c postage + 40c paypal + 10c ebay fees) -> Where is the cost of the cable? Also where is profit?

What should you expect from a 0.7c cable?

    • If you are a large enough merchant you dont pay 60c for shipping or 40c for paypal…

I've got 2 last time, and the plastic on the connector part just get "pulled out" and could never stay in!

these are very low quality cables, personally I will NEVER buy from them again!!

  • Hi All, I also bought two of these Lightning Cables about 3 weeks ago (End of May 2013)

Both literally fell apart within 2 weeks. After raising a Paypal Case and Contacting the Seller - They have agreed to send out two replacements - No charge - without return of the old ones.

Seems they are more than aware of the previous issues - Ive bought other items from them in the past and i am willing to see if they can turn this issue around for me.
