Thx, bought 3. I bought a couple of the 210LM torches previously. They are great little torches.

    • @Zaddo - would you able to get a refund on the difference?

      • -4

        no

My torch collection has so much in common with my steam games collection.

    For the wealthier Ozbargainers…

    Q5 is 20% off and $5.99

    http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-7w-3-Mode-CREE-Q5-LED-Tasc…

    • Probably wrong place to ask but, which of these torches (or other cheap-ish ones) are brightest when just using an AA battery? :x

      • Q5 says 400 lumens,

        Q3 is 300 lumens…

They're both very bright… You'll only notice the difference if you had them on side by side…

        • +1

Those are Chinese lumens.. No where near realistic even with 14500

      • If you're using just AA battery, you'll only be getting like 30% of the performance. I have this torch myself and using the correct battery (14500) with 3.7-4.2V compared to 1.5V AA makes a huge huge huge difference.

You can use AA for usual home torch, but if you are going outdoor like camping/fishing, then you better get the 14500 lithium batteries.

        • Yep.. Go with multiple AA if you wanna show off and must use AA.. Nitecore has some nice ones.. Not cheap but certainly budget minded

    • Go big or go home, baby!

Thank goodness you can't take these things through IV (intravenously), otherwise, we'd all be in trouble ;)

      • Who do we write to to request more power outages and the sun to go down sooner?

        • +1

          The Initiative.

  • not sure if there is a big difference between 210LM versus 300LM
yeah, there is a difference, the 210lm is way closer to real output!

  • Where to get 14500 batteries from? Which brand is the best?

  • dang, thought it was a lightsaber

    • It would only be a Light Cheese-Knife.

  • Does 14500 batteries require a special charger? Can I use La Crosse charger to re-charge it?

    • +1

Yes it needs a special charger and cannot be charged by LaCrosse AA/AAA chargers.

      • +1

They also require a bit more case. You should read up on lithium battery first before buying.

  • How does this torch compare with the Ultrafire CREE XM-L T6 5 Mode 1600LM Zoomable LED Flashlightat US$9.29?
Is it worth paying $16.95 for Same torch with battery and charger?

    • I have one of those and its fantastic. But I can't offer a decent comparison between this one and the T6 as Im using proper batteries in the T6.

    • From recent deal: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/103854 - Quote from Rep: "This one use Cree T6 is brighter than Q5 and with 5 modes.Besides, the price is include 2 batteries and a charge. The bright range in dark at least 2 times longer than last one."

Also regarding the combo deal that you've linked, try this one instead
http://www.banggood.com/Wholesale-1600lm-CREE-T6-LED-Adjusta… (sorry I don't know how to hyperlink).

I think they are the same but this one is under clearance - US $16.49 + 15% off with coupon.

Last I check, less than 5 in stock and the stock levels fluctuate from out of stock to less than 5 so keep refreshing.

  • The Cree page on Flashlight Wiki, suggests the LED is an XB-D, and that Q3, Q4, Q5, etc refers to the level of brightness based on post production testing. It also contains some interesting tables showing brightness at different voltages.
