JUNE2013M6M9P

Hi everyone,

I wanted some new budget earphones that had some cred so I turned to Head-Fi to get some opinions and found that the M9 and M6 were the most bang for buck within the $20-$30 range. I went onto the MEElec website and found the prices were good but not good enough so I emailed Mike at the company and asked if he could do a deal for all OzBargainers as the last deal went pretty well.

This was Mike's response:

Good news - I got the OK to do the M9P at $10.99 and the M6 at $12.99, which I think are our lowest-ever prices.

There is a single coupon code - "JUNE2013M6M9P" - for both. It will provide up to two units per order at this price. Mixing and matching is fine. I've made the code good through June 25th.

I am using UE 200 now. Is the M9P a worthy upgrade?

  • Good deal and thanks for making an effort OP, but like others have mentioned - the Vsonic range represents better bang-for-buck.

  • +1

damn the postage is a killer in this deal..that and the low aussie dollar

    • doesn't matter too much, when overall you are still saving heaps!

  • Thanks for posting this. Got me interested in these. 2 pairs M9P's comes to $30.93 delivered to Sydney. It looks like they are available for $15.99 from Amazon, with free shipping for over $25, ie $31.98 for 2. Presumably that is the normal Amazon price? If you are buying more than 2 Amazon should be cheaper, although I'm not sure if / which of these are USD vs AUD, which would change the equation - anyone know? I presume they are the same product. The other VSONIC / Philips headphones that are apparently better value don't seem to have mic's and I would be using mine with my phone - spares for my Samsung stock headphones, so it sounds like they are the best deal for that purpose. Also - anyone know if they come with the airplane adapter as I saw in a youtube video ? That's a nice-to-have gadget.

    • There's no such thing as free Amazon shipping for Australia.

      • You're right. Good to know. I proceeded to the checkout stage. $13 shipping from Amazon. Just ordered 2 pairs from the MEElectronics site. Thanks OP.

  • Hi all, I bought one of each of these and just wondering if anyone has received their order?
Mine says it was shipped 21st June, and hasnt really updated for a week.

    eg https://tools.usps.com/go/TrackConfirmAction_input?origTrackā€¦

Anyone else who bought in the same boat?

  • If it helps anyone to know..
I bought on the promotion date and now 1st of July and still not delivered.

    • it's only been 10 days. give it another week or so. USPS 1st class is the budget air service, therefore takes a while

  • So is everybody happy with them?, cos there's a deal on the superior brainwavs r1 with free express shipping that didn't even get voted to the front page on right now of you ain't.

    • I've always held off from the R1s because I prefer to not have to wear my headphones over the ear all the time, but from what I gather the R1s simply don't work without it.

Received a pair of M6 today. Seemed to survive the journey from USA without a hitch. Box was enclosed in a padded envelope.

First impression is that bass is excessive and that it's a bit lacking in the high end.

On the other hand, fit is excellent and the over-the-ear arrangement works well.

    • +1

That is pretty much spot on.
Expected a more high quality sound and noise cancellation.
      Comfort and fit is great.
Will be great for jogging, cycling etc.

A pair of Awei es100i earphones that I stumbled upon in Hong Kong for ~$10AUD are still the best earphones I have ever owned.

  • I got my M9P yesterday.

First thought is that they don't sound that good. Before these I have been using a $3 pair of DealExtreme headphones that sound much better.

Second thought is that there is a constant hiss in the background that doesn't depend on what music player I use, and is not there on my other headphones.

    Not really happy with them.

  • Bit of a random question, but when I blow on the mic on my M9P when music is playing it like stutters and distorts. Does anyone know why or how to prevent this?
When I'm riding at speeds of over 70km/h or so the same thing happens.. I've tried a bit of tape over the mic.. makes no difference.

  • Sound quality seems alright for price (not as good as all the initial comments made it seem), but there seems to be some sort of static in the wires and I don't find it fits too well for my ears but that might just be me since other people seem happy with the fit.

I would be happy to grab a refund to be honest but probably can't get one.

  • Received mine today (M6's)! I'm happy! Sound is pretty good for a $20 set of earphones!! Very bassy! They seem to be a good fit too! Took a while to figure out how they actually go in though!

  • For those of you who aren't too happy with how your M9's fit/seal in your ear canal, try using foam plugs such as these: http://headphones.com.au/pbrowse?search=comply (you can find them cheaper on eBay). You get a perfect fit and the sound is distinctly improved. I found the earplugs that come with the M9's to be pretty poor in that any slight movement impairs the sound.

  • Didn't buy in this sale but bought in last year's mystery sale and earphones are quite good. These guys have excellent customer service as well and reply very quickly if you have any issues. Can't believe Ozbargain missed out the same WOWMEE sale again in May this year (missed it as well) - $11 for random M9P, M11P+ or SP51P https://www.meelec.com/Articles.asp?ID=153. Biggest tip for those purchasing the earphones is to review the FAQ on their website - didn't realise different tips make such a big difference as well (if you think you have issues just email the guys.

  • Its been more than a month and mine still haven't came =/

    • same. some reported they got theirs weeks ago but also others said it takes agesss. = /
