OzBargain Exclusive: MEElectronics Earphones M9P - $10.99, M6 - $12.99 + Shipping

JUNE2013M6M9P

Hi everyone,

I wanted some new budget earphones that had some cred so I turned to Head-Fi to get some opinions and found that the M9 and M6 were the most bang for buck within the $20-$30 range. I went onto the MEElec website and found the prices were good but not good enough so I emailed Mike at the company and asked if he could do a deal for all OzBargainers as the last deal went pretty well.

This was Mike's response:

Good news - I got the OK to do the M9P at $10.99 and the M6 at $12.99, which I think are our lowest-ever prices.

There is a single coupon code - "JUNE2013M6M9P" - for both. It will provide up to two units per order at this price. Mixing and matching is fine. I've made the code good through June 25th.

USPS first class shipping to Aus $8.95. Total for the MP9 = $19.94 USD ($21.60AUD).

I used to own a pair, but lost them. I remember they were pretty good.

  • +46

Good work you are a true ozbargainer

    Thank you

  • +44

You deserve a cake to be baked in your honour! Asking for a discount not only for yourself, but for all of OzBargain! I will certainly be grabbing two! Thankyou k! More people should be like you!

  • the clear M6's look so cool

  • bought my m9's long ago love them excellent when not moving or doing the lawn.
Great idea getting in contact with them op!

  • Good deal, thanks for caring OP :)
That shipping though when I only want one pair :(

  • MEElectronics were great last time!

  • +1

spend another $4-6 and get some VSonic GR02 Bass Edition, they will out perform the M6/9 no doubt

    • -7

I've been disappointed with all my meelec purchases, but impressed by all my v Sonics maybe it's just my taste but imo they run rings around them.

    • +2

Where can I find GR02s for under $20 shipped?

      • +2

you can't, but no one said you could.

USPS first class shipping to Aus $8.95. Total for the MP9 = $19.94 USD ($21.60AUD).

The MP9 = $21.60AUD, as i said before, spend another $4-6 and vsonic start to be available

        • +3

Cheapest I can find is $34 from eBay. That's more like $12, double what you first quoted.

With that $12, I can get another pair of M9Ps and still have change :)

        • I got mine for around $28 a few months back, exchange rate maybe?
Either way you might have $12 in your pocket but you'll have inferior earphones too…

        • +5

I like how this Aids muppet makes his comment several hours ago, lets it fester to get a few positive votes, and then comes in the next day to downvote the bargain, making it tougher for others to downvote and reneg his neg.. What a spud.

        • i wasn't too happy with the sound quality on some pricier meelecs but not bad enough to neg. if they fell apart in a day or so that would be another story..

        • +1

Oh so that's how you revoke someone's neg. Cool. "You + community have revoked Aids negative vote"

          @Puff Braddy
I saw his comment yesterday before he did the neg and I didn't think it was TOO bad (just stating an opinion really). But to then go on and neg it? Nah. !#$^ that. I fixed it.

        • you can revoke your neg vote on Aids' comment and save some of those precious negs :) his/her neg will still remain revoked. but you have to revoke it quickly if you're the 6th person to neg.

save money + save on negs = barrrrrgain lol

        • -2

Hey puff you onion, I made that comment when this deal was but a few minutes old ya scronk, then when I saw that it had got 200+ pos votes I felt it necessary to give the poll some balance, and draw some attention to an alternate opinion and away from the sheeple thinking these are the best option at this price point. Good theory though turkey.

        • +1

perhaps you should read the negative voting guidelines again: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/help:voting_guidelines#nega…

i reckon most ozbargainers can read the comments and draw their own conclusions without the assistance of neg vote.

for example, these comments from spazmo http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/107713#comment-1461718 and jlluca http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/107713#comment-1462299. both dispute the OP's opinion but refrained from negging.

        • -3

I am familiar with the guidelines, and believe I used my vote appropriately given the state of the poll. Thanks for the condescending advice though.

        • You didn't give the poll balance at all. You can draw attention to other alternatives, but to neg vote it? Not justifiable at all, but nice try. And lol @ scronk, you were really scraping the bottom of the barrel there hey..

        • of course it isn't condescending to call us sheeple…not at all. one set of guidelines for us, and another set for you.

        • +1

You guys don't get it, this is exactly the reason why the neg exists.

  • +12

"+" for the effort OP. Shame I have way too many still in their boxes.

  • +1 from me as well. Loved the Meelec A161P and am grabbing 2 M9Ps to gift to friends and relatives

  • Great effort, OP :).

  • +1

I wear these when cycling and they are a really high quality product.

  • I have a couple of pairs of M6Ps that I use for running and skiing. They're quite awesome and really comfy.

  • Awesome. Grabbed two. Thanks OP.

  • Great deal but I still have so many $2 phillips earphones from the HN deals so I'll pass.

  • thanks k, good deal in my view.

  • +4

You can order a total of 4 by getting 2 of each type (m6 and m9), not sure if more than four would score.
Shipping cost is still the same ($8.95 US).
Good deal except for the AUD being low against the USD.

  • This is exactly what I've been looking for! Phillips ear hooks and audio technica earphones both crapped out.
    Thanks OP!

Any tips for making them last longer? Is it better to coil the earphones or just stuff them in your pocket? I tried using a case but I felt retarded doing it, it was a lot of bother and my friends gave me weird looks.

    • +1

i find that earphones nearly always break near the connector/jack thing. (this bit: http://a248.e.akamai.net/origin-cdn.volusion.com/j3qas.r57j6…) so i started wrapping a thin layer of cloth tape around that area to provide some extra reinforcement.

personally, i try to avoid coiling them up — i use the shirt clip to secure it to myself even when i'm not using them. then when i do, i don't have to worry about unraveling the tangled mess ;)

i do coil up the spare earphones i have in my car, but nice and loose so those flimsy wires inside to get too stressed out.

      • yeah, it's the jack or the y-split that gets it. might try the tape.

  • anyone live near ringwood in vic and want to save on postage?

    • -5

      No

      • +1

        blasphemy!

        • +11

I meant no to the first question… Seriously guys

  • i have the m9s
    they are pretty damn good

  • +1

tempting….oh so tempting. Going to restrain myself this time

  • +1

i don't know how people use in ear headphones for exercising…. mine just fall out no matter what tips I use. I found regular earphones with soft bud types are the only things that work :(

    • +3

      *excludes boxing, ufc, swimming, wrestling.

      • lol

    • +1

      the m6 should resolve that

    • you must have killer ear sweat :p

  • +5

I believe I got the M6's last time there was a deal for these here, and I wouldn't really recommend them. Sound is pretty awful and muddy. Maybe try the M9's if you're going for this deal.

    • +2

Cheers. It's hard to find actual feedback amongst all the bargain circlejerking.

  • +3

OP is a winner and we are all winners

  • Damn I wish there was M9P with sound isolation..
but I also wonder how effective the sound isolation really is.

Btw thanks for the effort OP!

  • well done OP. got myself a blue m6 and two silver m9ps
    thank you for your effort!

  • So is the only difference between the M6 and M9's their practicability? One is for sitting still (i.e. on a bus) and the other for active movement (i.e. at the gym)?

  • +1

Bought 2 pairs of the M6 last time they were on sale and they have served me well for an absolute heap of runs/workouts. One pair died through sheer overuse - I think I stepped on them and the other pair is still going strong. Very happy to have another 2 pairs in reserve :D

  • Will be grabbing the M6 to compare to the king of budgets - monoprice 8323/9227

  • just what i was looking for.

  • Are the earphone 50/50 length or 70/30?

    • Looking at all the pictures on the site with cords running down the front, I'm going to guess 50/50 but I'm not certain.

      • +1

yeah, they're 50/50, i've had a couple of pairs and they're excellent value for $30, yet alone that price for two delivered!

  • Kudos op, Meelectronics are great!

  • Would these fit comfortably under earmuffs? I generally only use earphones while mowing the lawn to make it quieter whilst adding tunes :P

    • i've used in-ears under ear muffs while shooting at an indoor range, much to the range officer's amusement. not just for a little background music, but i find it's more comfortable for my ears that way…some cheap ear muffs they've got there.

  • Is the website trustworthy?

I'm a bit wary of international online orders.

    • I think you have approximately 20-30 vouches from the comments only.
And then there is that massive number of + votes = D

  • Although I don't need earphones at the moment, +1 from me simply for your efforts to get this deal for everyone else here, kudos!!

  • +1

about 35 bucks delivered for one of each, winner winner chicken dinner

  • Anyone know how long shipping takes?

    • +1

Been over 12months since I order any but they use to arrive in a week or less. MEElec have awesome service in my experience.

    • +2

USPS 1st class takes at least 2 weeks, sometimes up to 6.

the average time for me is about 3 weeks.

  • Thanks mate!

After destroying two pairs of high end IEMs, I started using brainwavz as my wallet couldn't stomach it. Just bought two sets of each for gym use.

  • I could never get the m6's to sit comfortably, but I've gifted 3-4 pairs and everyone else seems to love them. One guy in the office pulled the wires out from the over ear guides and I don't think he ever took them out again, he's out there somewhere right now rocking out no doubt.

  • This is what I'm looking for, a headphone for running :)

    Cheers.

  • +1

Now i can spot OzBargainers on train rides

  • Thanks OP. Couldn't resist. Got two pairs of silver M9P's and one clear M6.

  • +2

Not sure why I just bought these, but everyone else seems to be (one of each)

  • Great deal. Another set of wonderful headphones to stuff into my drawer

  • ty don't use smartphone yet wish there were some for the pc or tv you find.
    +1 can't add +1 any other way?

  • Love my M9P's they live up to the hype… Just let then burn in a bit. Great work OP for thinking of all of us

  • Anyone know how long shipping takes?? i got away in a week…

  • Hi all first post. Bought 1 of each. thanks op for the effort.

  • Great work OP. Thanks

  • Thanks, bought 1 m6 and 2 m9's.

  • +2

    In all honesty why bother?

If you do your shopping right, you can easily get a set of Sennheiser CX-300 II's, even CX-500's are around $35 shipped with reputable ebay sellers…a much better set of budget buds IMO.

    • +1

neither of those sennheisers you mentioned have an inline mic, which may be a deciding factor for some people.

i bought a pair of M11P+ april last year and i have to say i wasn't too impressed with the sound….it's a tad "flat" and the bass not punchy enough for my liking. and the clunky cable winder o_o

but the accessories that came with it (so many ear tips!, airplane connector, case, shirt clip) sort of made up for its shortcomings.

  • Bought 2 m9p. Thanks.

  • Just got one of each, thanks!

  • +1

Can anyone please comment on the bass production of the M9P? So tempting …

  • +1

Thanks OP! Got one of each.

Thoroughly recommend tacking one of these onto your order for an extra $4:
    http://www.meelec.com/MEElectronics_Airplane_Adapter_p/earph…

If you've ever missed most of the dialogue on the plane movies due to the terrible headsets, you'll know what Im talking about.

  • Bought 2 M9P for $34.91 AUD with paypal, their rate was 0.88 :(

  • Even though i have my shure SE530 and Senn HD650's i couldn't resist this bargain. Ordered a pair for myself and a mate. Great deal :) Only ~ $15 a pair if you split shipping with a friend. Good stuff OP

  • +2

    damn Aus dollar

  • What makes these so good? Everyone is buying, and I am really tempted but not sure how good they are?

    • -1

Nothing really, they are over priced to begin with, so this is what they are worth really, hold out for a brainwavs r1 sale or get vsonic gr02 bass. Both sound much better for similar coin.

    • just buy it hahaboy

      buying things makes you happy

      lol

      its the consumer impulse

i just brought these to use for my phone for handsfree

      • Yea it does make us happy seconds before and seconds after you hit that submit button. Then you ask yourself WHY :)

I bought two pairs. I wasn't looking to buy an earphone, I only listen to music on the way to work. But damn it when I saw the number of pluses on this offer I just fell for it. Now may be I will want to listen in more carefully and try to appreciate music through better a pair than my stock samsung phone pair.

        • +1

Thanks aids. Ended up not buying
As you guys said, it would be an impulse buy. I don't really need these, so I can let them slide.

        • good call in the end…these are much cheaper and from the reviews, sound better too :p
