$490 - 42RU 960mm Deep Server Rack Enclosure + GST + Shipping

140

Great deal on a big, deep server cabinet. These are well built - I have a smaller version (which I paid more for) housing my home theatre equipment. 4cabling are also a pleasure to deal with

  1. Price quoted is ex GST
  2. Shipping starts at $100 to Sydney (over $300 to my postcode)
  3. 5% coupon that is apparently storewide, refuses to accept (at least on this item)

For a metal 42 RU rack that's a good delivered price still I must say,

      • If you know how heavy these things are yes.

      • Yep.. we pay about $5k for our Panduit 4-posters

    • Yes - big erk as in their email blasts they always put their pricing in EX GST!

OP its generally illegal to advertise a price excluding GST without listing the price including GST with equal prominence.

      And:

      http://www.accc.gov.au/content/item.phtml?itemId=701452&nodeā€¦

There are exceptions, but wouldn't it just be easier to just list the item (especially here on OzB) as $539?

Why the neg? It is true. I think its important to be transparent about the full cost of an item (so does the law).

The exception is if the seller deal mostly with other business rather than end consumer. Everyone still has to pay GST, but business would be able to claim back the amount.

I believe 4Cabling sold mostly to corporate / government, and people usually buy the rack cabinets to be installed in the data centre or office for their rack servers, rather than racking up their AV receivers and game consoles :)

Perhaps considering there are primarily end-user consumers and enthusiasts (with some small businesses) viewing OzBargain, it should be listed here including GST even if store doesn't include it? Or at least the cost of GST in title like we have postage listed whether pickup is free or if you can shi it?

If I'm not mistaken it would also be one of few bargains listed ex GST.

        • Yeah I agree when posting on ozbargain it should have been gst included.

    • Looks like you can also earn $49 worth of Westfield gift cards if I'm not mistaken assuming you signup for the free loyalty program.

I'll stick to using my refrigerator, thanks.

how does that work for you? I mean opening the door and watching as thousands of dollars in IT equipment condenses.

      • Don't have to worry about overheating.

  • $382.00 postto my place!!!!!

      It is 130kg…

      • +3

So is my fridge, good guys only charged $30.

        • 420lt is only about 80KG gross. Maybe true if you're buying a SBS, but at a lot of retailers this would be min. $70 and above.

For the record I am looking at fridges and GG were asking $50 for delivery of a 420lt.

no one going to price match at OW?

  • Wish they had a sale on the 22RU version.

  • I have a smaller version (which I paid more for) housing my home theatre equipment.

OP , you must have a lot of electronics in the house, that's amazing that someone can fill a cabinet this size with electronics.

    • i was also questioning the same thing.

    • Not really.. half rack is 24RU

      Decent HT setup might include:
      Receiver
      Pre-amp
      Blu-player and/or HTPC
      NAS
      Ethernet switch
      DVD/CD player
Shelves for small items like removable drives, portable-device docks, wireless access-points

That amount would eat up a half-rack pretty easily

Thanks for alerting me to GST pricing details - I tend to pick up from this store so didn't even consider shipping. Plus its the first deal I have posted (damn newbies)

I paid $900 (pickup) including GST for my 32RU 600mm deep case last year. This one is taller and deeper.

Mine is filled to brim with:
    CD player
    DVD player
    PS3
    Apple TV
    5 Channel power amp
    Large pre-processor
    Sonos

I have no room for my HTPC or new consoles and am tempted to buy a bigger rack!

    Like the saying goes:

"You can never have too big a rack"

  • Courier Delivery (F.TOLL) $989.00 for me :o
    do I win or loose?

Edit: But still a very nice deal/find

THIS IS TOTALLY A DEAL IF THE DELIVERY DRIVER IS A HOT CHICK! I've always wanted to legitimately tell someone "NICE RACK"!

    • Lame joke. Courier drivers are typically fat, middle aged scruffy blokes.
