Cast Iron Cookware
Cast Iron cookware is durable, practical and beautiful
Cast Iron has excellent heat retention making it perfect for slow cooking

I have a griddle pan from one of Aldi's previous sale (not quite the same colour but I think it's the same thing) and it's been very good for cooking steak IMO. I'm not professional cook but it has served me well.

I don't see the reason to pay 10X the price for a branded griddle because I think they all do the same thing.

My baccarat cast iron was only $59 and has a ceramic finish. These were not as good. U need more oil to cook.

Yup i have the dutch oven thing, very2 good. the meat seal up properly and very tender (seal the steam off)

In my share house we have a medium sized Aldi dutch oven, and large le creuset and le chasseur dutch ovens. The enamel on the Aldi one has cracked quite a bit, the Le Creuset has worn away a little ( it's had the most use ) and the le chasseur still looks pretty mint.

I would think the griddle would be exceptionally good value ( just make sure you season it properly ) but the enamel on the frypan will probably wear very quickly.

      • SEASON it! Thanks for the reminder, completely forgot.

I do to my wife in bed sometimes! :O
      But it's not a sale, it's a forced surprise purchase! :)

      • Too far dude, too far.

          Ugh lighten people geez!!!
Will check these out though, prolly worth trying for $15

  • The tight fitting lids..

    Do they come with lids?

  • Anyone know how long it takes these types of things to sell out in the average Aldi? Worth making a trip this evening?

Bought one of the Dutch ovens this morning, returned it as it was chipped. Had to go through 5 boxes before I found one that wasn't chipped! So just beware.

    • Maybe it was you at Epping I saw going through every box, or another dissatisfied customer?

      • Another dissatisfied person! I was at the Bribie Island store in QLD.

  • can't add to shopping cart now….

  • Just went to my local (Queanbeyan) and they had 3 half filled pallets of griddles, dutch ovens and roasting pans, and a small amount of french pans.

They also had Copper Saucepan sets for $120, which seemed too cheap for words, and reasonable Solingen Steel Utility knives for $20

  • The frypans are great but bloody heavy.

    • That's why I hesitated to get one.

The Heavier the better when it comes to frying pans!

  • I suggest people to read through this before considering.

Just cooked dinner in new frypan, worked well. Matching griddle pan from last year is still going well too, very good for $15!

  • Got one of the dutch ovens last year and the knob came off the lid after a few weeks of normal use. Rather surprising the German design of this simple appparatus could be this bad. You got what you paid for I guess.

  • WOW, is that real Cast Iron?

Another happy Aldi frying pan customer here I love mine but yes they are very heavy. No reason to own anything else I use mine almost everyday!

I have a big pan with a lid, not sure what its called, bought from Aldi well over a year now and the enamel on the inside is in perfect condition and on the lid I have a big enamel chip because I dropped it a couple of times. The handle on the lid loosened after I dropped the second time so I just tightened it. It is really good to use I would buy something else from that range with no hesitation only my cupboards are chockkas now as it is.

  • I bought these a few years back and I hardly ever use them because they're so heavy. It's just a pain to cook with or to wash.

  • Got the griddle pan and Dutch oven, has anyone followed the instructions and seasoned the pan or isn't it necessary?

    • I did, but the instructions didn't say to do so, they simply stated that it should be washed in soapy water and dried, prior to use.

At $15 the griddle was a great buy.

  • Checked box hill store no griddle pans already

  • The Pines in Templestowe/Doncaster still has some

  • Got one, but FYI it's not dishwasher safe. Apparently nothing cast iron is, but does mean I'll use it less than if that weren't the case.

  • does anyone know if this is available anywhere in Sydney?

  • These are on clearance at Preston, VIC Aldi for $9.99 now
