Bought this tripod a couple of years ago around that price and it's still going strong, very happy with it!

Bought it a year ago for $50 from Dick Smith and it's still going strong (despite knocking off the locking screw)

  • Yes. Look like a good and decent deal from COTD

got one last year from DSE when it was on special only $49, sturdy and stable.
the monopod is also very handy.
better than light cheap models. can hold my 600D from strong wind on top of telstra tower.

but precision on horizontal panning is not good. can't get 360 deg panorama using this tripod.

Agreed to be strong and sturdy, monopod isn't that great though but is a nice bonus.

Not sure what you mean by 360deg panorama, I'm fairly certain the head can rotate 360deg just not smoothly or completely level without great difficulty.

$99 RRP. Not really a deal. Free bag comes from every retailer… Previously $50 at dicksmith. Any camera store would sell you this for ~$65 if they had the stock

      1. "if" is not a valid point
      2. when I bought mine it didn't come with a bag
      • -2
        1. I said "if" because this model was discontinued about 6 weeks ago, so IF any store has them left they would gladly sell it to you at $65 (cost price is ~$50)

        2. It's been supplied with the tripods for the past 12-18 months, so you either bought really old stock or the retailer took the bag out

Do post it up online if you find one :)
In the meantime, isnt the idea of a bargain for it to be below RRP?

You said it yourself, RRP is 99. The next cheapest place I can find it is from eBay from HK for $90. So this is $20 cheaper than the next cheapest place.
If you found it cheaper, let me know.

  • Seems to be fault with this model:

Agreed, that part cracked on the first time I used the tripod (and later on snapped off because I knocked it…) Have been using it without that part ever since.
Otherwise a fair tripod for the price ($50), any more than that and there are probably lots of better options out there.

  • If you only using mirrorless / small dslr with kit lens. Manfrotto MKC3-H01is a better bet. It's lighter and more compact. But it only have 1.5 load capacity. I use it with d7000 with 16-85mm. It still hold well
