  • good timing

Need an amex issued bank card

    Thanks

  • St George needs something like this… amex, and reward on platinum card.

    • All the same, different name. St.George Bank is a subsidiary of Westpac Banking Corporation.

  • For each statement cycle a points cap of 2,500 Qantas Frequent Flyer points applies when using either or both cards. Bonus points do not count towards the points cap.

    • 10,000 points is "For each statement cycle a points cap of 3,750 Qantas Frequent Flyer points applies when using either or both cards"

5,000 points is "For each statement cycle a points cap of 2,500 Qantas Frequent Flyer points applies when using either or both cards""

  • 1 Qantas Frequent Flyer point per $1 spent on purchases - Earth Platinum American Express® Card
0.5 Qantas Frequent Flyer points per $1 spent on purchases - Earth Platinum MasterCard®

Not good for when amex isn't accepted.

    • the credit card fees are oftern higher with Amex

The bargain here is the bonus 10,000 points for $0, not the card features.

  • im a little confused….. so you get the points on the transfer from another credit card debt?… or on purchases…. doesn't seem clear

The 10,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points are not available with any promotion other than a special "balance transfer rate" available at credit card application.

    • This also in the description:

These bonus points will usually be transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within 14 days after your Credit Card statement has been issued, after your first eligible purchase transaction using either of your Westpac Earth Platinum Credit Cards.

The balance transfer bit is basically you can transfer balance and also get the bonus points = double win if you like transfer balance.

Is 10,000 bonus Qantas Points anything special? I thought that was the norm and 30,000 was special, or 50,000.

    • Its special for me if I don't pay any annual fee for the first year, just close the card within 12 months and get the 10K points for nothing.

Do you realise credit applications (such as this) negatively affects your credit worthiness?

  • Finally… a CC offer.

Theres also the Altitude Plat Rewards card on offer - this one is also free for the 1st year and gives you 2 points per $ Amex transaction. And the cap is 7500 points a month. Not bad.

Expired? Not showing 10,000 free points on the site any more

    • Looks like it, though the standard one still has 5000 points.

  • Looks to me that the 10,000 points come with the Altitude card instead of the Earth and it's Altitude points rather than frequent flyer points. Based on a $100 myer gift card,it's more expensive to get the gift card with altitude points than frequent flyer points. According to my calculations, the 10,000 point is worth about $59. Probably not worth it.

  • Expired yesterday. From the Earth card;

"The 10,000 bonus Qantas Frequent Flyer points are not available with any promotion other than a special balance transfer rate available at credit card application. This promotion is only available between 2 April 2013 - 1 July 2013. These bonus points will usually be transferred to your Qantas Frequent Flyer account within 14 days after your Credit Card statement has been issued, after your first eligible purchase transaction using either of your Westpac Earth Credit Cards. If you do not inform us of your Qantas Frequent Flyer Program membership number within four months of us approving your Card, you will earn Points for goods or services purchased on your Card or the Card Account from the date you inform us of your Qantas Frequent Flyer Program membership number."

  • Westpac updated the website around 7pm last night 02/07. The bonus points seems to have dissapeared.
