    • No they don't.

    • +2

Yeah but they're not getting any further than that.

  • +3

Sony Centre will not answer phone, and online Customer Service will not take phone orders!

  • +1

they still have everything but the xba-3ip and the bluteooth ones at westfield parramatta. When I was there, the phones were getting hammered, better to just head out there, looked to have about 30ish in stock (across the range). Picked up a xba3 and the 2vp… haven't tried those yet but holy shit the xba3's are amazing

    • im after XBABT75 ,damn it,Should i go tomorrow ?

      • those are the bluetooth ones that aren't available. to be honest given the amount of interest they had when I was there, I doubt there will be much left even at this point…

  • Too good to be true, methinks.

  • Epic Sony fail.

  • Why is this shit, still on the front page? Literally like 2 people managed to buy online…

    • +3

but it is still available in store so the dead is still valid

  • +1

Waste of time. My time's worth more than the discount anyway. Sony are bastards for this. Did even a single person get a pair online?

  • +3

oh ffs my shopping cart has magically emptied.

  • +4

I got through to the payment section, then the gateway timed out and the next screen I saw was 'down for maintenence' So close…

  • -2

Guys don't give deal a negative because you couldnt grab one :P. It should be positive for the person who shared it in the first place. Nice catch !! I got one.

  • Great deal, seems not many public got it? I wonder if even staff managed to buy any?

  • I have a couple of pairs on order. Went into the Nunawading Sony Centre, paid up, they'll call me when they come in (hopefully next week)

    • Thanks for the tip. Placed a phone order. Apparently only 3 sets left in the warehouse.

  • damnit i've been watching the xba-3ip price now for almost 6 months, and when it finally hits bottom I miss it.

    • got one. finally!

  • +8

First time and last time use Sony online.

  • +1

I think I was able to buy the $59 Bluetooth ones (SONY XBABT75 ). I am not sure if I placed the order for sure tho because the site crashed when processing the payment. I have been trying for like 4 hours.

Edit1: There is a $59 transaction in my bank account so I called the customer support and the guy told me that he doesn't have the ability to check customer orders..

Edit2: Just confirmed with my bank, the $59 transaction went to sony Australia. The SONY XBABT75 seem to be out of stock now. The delivery date for new order's says: Backorder where as my first order has a july 12-13th estimated delivery. Hopefully I get them.

  • go to VIC nunwading and put your order for XBA3
the rest is out of stock

Since I have XBA4 and ordered UE900 yesterday I'm gonna skip on this

  • +2

Great price but I couldnt access the website since the deal went live (I also recieved the email) so no deal for me given the website was down all the time. Now I hear there is no stock.

  • +1

Was anyone able to place an order online? I couldn't at all since this pretty much started and calling didn't help much either.

Seems like some people like kazines above are able to order in store though..

  • Can we pricematch this with OW or Dick Smith?

    • +1

But they don't stock these? :s

  • Just at the Melbourne store - they have about 1 or maybe 2 XBAS65B's left to buy (pre order - one week away).

They mentioned website should be back later with some stock, but not sure of which products or in what quantities.

  • +1

Finally got through on the phone and reserved a XBA3 for pickup. Then turns out while the guy was on the phone with me some greedy person rocked up and bought all 4 that was left. I was able to raincheck one at the sale price though.

    • Which store did you reserve this at mate?

  • Called nunawading store… None left. Nothing to see here

  • -3

Good work nuking a stores reputation when the store never intended this to be a massive sale to begin with. How many damaged paid of headphones were you expecting? Great work Ozbargain… discouraging small flash sales since 2011.

    • +5

It's not the customer's fault in the slightest. This is entirely Sony's bad. They poorly estimated traffic. "Not intended to be a massive sale" - They just sent out an 85% off email to everybody on their MASSIVE mailing list. What are you trying to get at here?

    • People upset because the way Sony website handle the sale and traffic, not amount of discounted unit.
You would think massive company like Sony have better resources in anticipating surge in traffic and not wasting people's time like this.

      • Imagine if you weren't even trying to get the headphones, and just trying to file a warranty claim or get drivers for five hours, hahaha. rage

        • -1

If you rage over not being able to claim a warranty for 5 hours, I really worry about how stable a person you are.

Not everything that doesn't run perfectly requires blame to be assigned. It is unrealistic for Sony's local website to handle being 'ozbargained'… The cost of constantly paying for the ability to do so would result in their products being even more expensive because they would have to pay additional costs to pay for better servers.

Best situation you can hope for when threads like this happen is that they either run the same thing exactly again, and continue to get more bad press, or alternatively… instead of a lucky few getting a bargain, they don't advertise a single bargain to begin with.

        • -1

Haha, what? That was clearly a hypothetical joke. I was obviously here for the headphones like everybody else. Why are you being so defensive and taking this so personally. Everybody is being all "lol fail Sony", and you are sounding like you are personally hurt by the fact that anybody would speak ill of them.

        • -1

I am not taking it personally. I would be very disappointed if companies were discouraged from posting low stock flash sales because of yourself and like minded individuals.

        • -1

So do you expect people to be sent spam and then respond by going "Hmm, I wont visit this page just yet, because lots of other people probably want to see what this is all about as well. I'll just wait in the imaginary queue and have a turn in a bit."

This isn't going to discourage Sony from posting deals, they will be thrilled at how much traffic they got (or almost got), what they will be frustrated about is that they couldn't handle the traffic. This will encourage them to improve their servers, not discourage them from making sales or getting traffic through promotions in the future. They're not going to say "Nope, the internet is too expensive, there's too many people on it, waste of money".

        • Sony didn't post this deal.

Try contributing to the ozb community instead before complaining that companies aren't meeting your expectations. That's the way it used to be here.

        • +1

Haha, what? You're the one complaining here, mate. I'm just trying to explain things to you that you don't seem to understand, since you seem rather distressed and confused about it all. :)

Also, I was clearly talking about the huge amount of emails they sent out. Of course I know the poster isn't a rep. Even if they were that's irrelevant to our discussion. I feel like you're trying to change the topic, or somehow prove that you're a better person than the rest of us or something. Have a nice day. :)

    • +6

Agree entirely, there's so many people on here that feel like they are entitled to get a bargain. Just because you weren't one of the what would seem like ~100+ people judging by comments on here with reports of stores with 30 or so units in stock, there is no need to get so negative about a company. With sales like this you need to expect that you most likely won't be able to get the product but feel lucky if you do, not the other way around.
Company does crazy sale like this —-> some people get product for ridiculous discount, many don't —-> the many complain that x company is awful lots of bad PR for the company —-> company decides not to run sales like this in future, no one gets ridiculous discount.

      • +8

As explained above, the majority of people aren't annoyed because they missed out. They are commenting on Sony's inability to estimate or manage traffic. Sony directly requested the surge in traffic by spamming out an email to everybody on their mailing list. They did this to increase traffic! But they couldn't handle it. Sony is a ridiculously huge company that specialises in technology. It's not at all unreasonable for people to provide commentary on this.

        • +3

Ditto - funny how ozbargain's site is fine but Sony's site crashes…

        • +1

I would assume that Ozbargain has significantly more regular users than the local Sony website.

        • Dude, are you serious?

        • +2

Absolutely. Ozbargain would have more daily users/unique clicks than most Australian websites.

        • +3
        • +1

The amount of traffic generated by an email offer system is distinctly different to that offered by ozbargain. Sure, you could say that they should have expected it to be shared, however these offers are considered by the company not in terms of "this is the best deal we've offered this year!"…it's just another offer and I'm sure they've had many in the past which have not been considered a bargain by the community here which received very modest traffic. It is unrealistic to expect them to handle this huge influx of traffic, even given that they are part of such a large global company, the sony electronics store Australia can't instantly pull resources from other divisions, they are essentially a separate entity and have their own budgets and website traffic requirements. Aside from the points made above, it's just a shame to see so much negativity, it simply breeds more negativity, I fully realize I'm hypocritical by arguing your points. But it would be nice if this was a positive community, if only so I didn't have to wade through so much whinging to read valuable posts explaining user experience with these & pointing out that you could phone order..

  • +1

looks like it's the same kind of thing as here

  • The site is back up.

  • +1

Finally got an order confirmation using BPAY as payment method after the site kept crashing with credit card details. However it looks like my credit card has been charged despite the errors. With only one confirmation email I wonder if I'll get 2 pairs of XBA3's or charged twice for the one pair?

    • I crashed on CC details too however cannot tell whether I've been charged with no email confirmation or anything showing in my order on My Sony. I think I now officially give up!

      • They charged me for a crashed order. But I did not get an order conformation :(

        • did you ever get a confirmation email in the end. same boat here. i got charged but got no confirmation email!

        • nope

        • hmm this is a worry.i dont want to try re-order if i dont have to but the money is definately been taken. Maybe there is a delay for credit card details - wish i read here first and did the pay it at post option…

  • We are currently down for maintenance.
Sorry for the inconvenience. We will be back online shortly.

    got up too late…

  • Been trying for the past few hours. I add the item to my cart, log into MySony. Get to the CC details then it crashes. Try again, item isn't there so I have to add the item back into my cart. System maintenance error… Try the process again, relog into MySony like a thousand times. Add it to my cart a thousand times. Guess I got to keep trying eh.

EDIT: And I haven't yet to complete my purchase.

    • Hang in there - it is possible!

    • Keep trying, I just got through and got one using BPAY

      • it took ages to load, and keeps saying gateway time out

  • Grabbed a pair of XBA2's from KIOSK in NSW, going later today to pick it up, I really want an XBA3 tho…
