Looks like the link works only if you are logged in members area. Replaced it with Bupa offers link.

booking fee of $1 per ticket seems a bit rich. $1 per transaction I can maybe understand, but $1 per ticket is damn greedy.

    • I agree, but thats a Hoyts policy

      • this is their lame justification:

"WHY IS THERE AN ONLINE BOOKING FEE?
Why is there an online booking fee?

The main benefit in purchasing tickets online is that you will receive priority service when you collect your tickets. Hoyts Red Carpet delivers a fast and easy way to collect online tickets from a busy box office environment! You are also guaranteed seats for the session and cinema of your choice. As you can appreciate, during peak season and at the release of blockbusters, sessions do sell out quite quickly across our sites."

        http://www.hoyts.com.au/guest_service/purchasing_tickets.asp…

It's allocated seating anyway, so I'm not really fussed if I get my ticket now, or in 2 mins time. Here I was thinking the fee was to cover their EFT costs…

    • It's not unique to Hoyts, pretty sure all cinemas charge it

When I redeem Optus tickets through Hoyts online the $1 booking fee is listed but never actually charged (they just need your credit card for verification), this would probably be the same?

      • kabigon: Really? What you say contradicts the terms for vouchers in general as stated in the hoyts website: http://www.hoyts.com.au/guest_service/vouchers_and_gift_card…
I have assumed that they would charge me $1 so I always use the voucher at the cinema. You get good seats if you arrive early enough or if the movie is not overcrowded.
I would like to hear experiences of online redeeming of Bupa vouchers to see if the same as Optus applies.

        • Ssh don't tell them ;)

The $1 fee put me off booking online for a while but given I was seeing a newly-released movie that was selling fast and I didn't want to sit away from my friends, I finally bit the bullet and found out there's no fee when redeeming a voucher after all..

    Its been there forever.

Tell me about it! The minimum's are off-putting. The Telstra offer is much better. All you need is a Telstra account and you're set for $10 movies.

      • Do you have to be a Telstra customer?

        • +1

Yes, but all it takes is a $2 SIM and you have a Telstra account.

      • If I read it right, you don't have to use all the tickets for one session. So while the minimum may be 4 adult tickets, a couple could use them to see two movies within the 6 month period before they expire.

      • +1

Same with the Optus offer, that's where I get mine from for Hoyts

  • +1

True. Its been there forever. Also, the same offer is available for Event Cinemas (Event, Greater Union and Villege). Login and go to https://www.bupa.com.au/member-self-service/member-discount-…

  • Yup great offer! Been using it heaps.

  • You can get a similar deal to this using the RAA in SA. (and also the autoclub in WA i believe.)

  • Just get a friend with an Optus phone $10 a ticket and no booking fee

    • When you buy the voucher from the bupa site there is only an expiration date and no reference to which specific movie you will see. Then you have to options
      (a) go straight to the cinema the desired day and use the voucher in situ
      (b) redeem your voucher at the hoyts website (choosing a movie, day time, seat, etc) this is what would produce the $1 fee for the online booking

      • same as the Optus movie rewards…. you're talking about the Telstra movie rewards which you have to preselect the movie

  • Work with 3D movies?

    • yes , but you must pay an additional either online or at the kiosk.

  • It is not just 25% of savings. For an adult ticket (RRP $19) saving is 44.7% and for a child ticket (RRP $14) saving is 43%.
