Are these any good? I have an old stubble trimmer which is starting to wear out (charge doesn't last as long)

      These are great.
I bought one of these iStubble from UK for $65 AU inc shipping(use with adaptor) Sep '10 and use it daily. The battery died after 12 months but I just use it plugged in.

The main thing I don't like is I have to set the depth every time I turn it on (I think only because the battery is u/s) only that's easy and I change it during the trim anyway. Best this is the length very easy to adjust, push the button, the length set is in big illuminated text display so I can read it without my glasses. The 0.4mm setting at work looks rugged but neat (for work) only I have to still trim daily to maintain that.

It takes longer than a regular shave only is the look I am after so well worth it. The motor (& therefore blades) is a little slow so move it slowly and make multiple passes from different directions for a good result. If it's moved fast it pulls the stubble. It's not that good with stray individual hair breakaways on lower neck. I often notice I missed one or 2 and use it without the comb (flips out of the way) and blade at 90 degrees the following day to sort out these.

Comb doesn't work well on very soft skin. Yes, it's not that great on the very soft most intimate parts like under your boys or right in there when you clip your girlfriend [only it does vibrate so she'll like it.. ;-) ].

Long hairs over about 15mm clog the comb so you have to flip it open to clear it every other stroke; again that's easy and probably this happens with every clipper. Did with my Remington and my Wahl.

All in all I have tried others and I am still with this one for trimming all hair apart from inside nose.

To trim closely under the nose you flip the comb out of the way and use it so the blade is touching and 90 degrees to the skin. There are some good videos on youTube about how to use it.

    • These are great had one for about 2 years now, still going strong

Myers had it on special during the Christmas period for around the $75, and I regretted not buying then. So I took the plunge now. Brilliant price, excellent spot!

This is a version of the Conair i-Stubble which can be had from Amazon for an everyday low price of AUD$55 (including shipping to Australia). It can be had for even less when on sale (about $40).

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004PXIR1W

Only problem is that you need an American outlet adapter for the charger (it's otherwise fully compatible). So for $64 it may be better buying locally in this instance, but if you miss out, just grab it from Amazon (for less).

    Great electric razor IMO.

  • I've had the i-Trim Precise Stubble Trimmer for the last ~16 months - and it's great. The battery lasts for a few weeks on a charge, and the trim can be set to .4mm, which is pretty darn close. If you get irritated by razors or electric foil shavers, this thing is as good as I've found. A bit awkward trimming the Mo, so I still use my old foil shaver for that.

Don'r mix it up with the i-Trim Stubble from the same company - totally different product that got slammed everywhere. The obviously learnt some lessons with that thing.

    • "To trim closely under the nose you flip the comb out of the way and use it so the blade is touching and 90 degrees to the skin."

      From my post above

Yeah the reason i've been on the hunt for this product for a while is because I went to Myer in Sydney CBD when it was reduced recently and they were out of stock. I rang Harvey Norman as they also had a EOFY special at the time but the next day it went back to normal price - the guy then told me it would be $64 on the 12th.

Would have put it up sooner, but didnt want to risk it being ozbargained before i had the chance to order mine…you know how it is!

  • I don't have a lot of facial hair, can you use this for trimming body hair?

    • yeah i don't see why not, like any shaver if you remove the guard. i prefer to use naked flame for that though, it gives a really close singe.

    • The comb flips out of the way easily
      Yes!

  • damn i bought it from shavershop today for $69
