Whoa, tks for the heads up guys
very entertaining to see the whinging about "mobile phones screen resolution" as in par with real tv LOL

480*800 is good enough to see HD movies on 4,5 inch screen

Only 480X800 resolution but display is 4.5" :(
    Why the manufacturers does this?
This phone has a pretty good spec but resolution is a big downside…

    • Its passable but at 1280 the pixels are invisible IMO so its worth investing in. Also makes 1080 a bit of a joke if u ask me

  • Don't bother wasting money on screen resolution lower than 1280 x 720. At least HD or FHD is ideal in 2013.

Obviously, Samsung believes their brand will sell regardless the outdated screen resolution.

Wow this is an odd technology match. There is some 2013 (if a 2013 release counts) in there with complimentary 2011/2012 tech keeping it company :)

I don't understand the niche Samsung intend to fill with this phone and this price point.
The words Epic and Fail come to mind.

I love Samsung but I wish they'd simplify their model range down.
All they need is 3 ranges, Awesome, Mediocre and Budget. I should send this to their marketing department.

    • I agree with you man, to me this phone really doesn't make sense. If you only want to spend $300-400 on a new smartphone, wouldn't a GS3 be better in almost every way? And if you weren't interested in 4G, then a Nexus 4 would also be a good option.

I can understand if this was more like $150-200, but otherwise I don't see the point in it.

      • Yeah, this phone would be a killer blow at $99. 4G LTE is worth a little extra so perhaps your $150-200 is about right.

Someone at Samsung got really confused with this one I think.

  • All of you are right.
The way Samsung works is that they release a phone at X and then drop the price within 3 weeks by 30-40 %. But in the consumers mind this new price which is 30% lower seems an "insane value". So we will see this phone drop to around 200 soon :)

Apple on the other hand does not drop price therefore they see more sales right at the start within first weeks of release as people know price will not drop and in the process Apple makes headlines like "Iphone SOLD OUT worldwide", and not much sales towards the middle to end of the product cycle as people are waiting for the new phone to come out. Samsung on the other hand sees sales through out the life of the produce.

Its just the games these companies play.

This is just the Galaxy S2 4G with rounded corners.

    • Pretty much

Heap of whinging in here - cant hear myself think…

On the positive side, this thing comes with a 2000mAh battery, coupled with the more than suitable - albeit lower resolution means that you end up with a phone that might last more than a day without a charge!

  • got one, really good. long battery life. contrast better than my galaxy nexus. 800x480 is good enough for 4.5"
compare to my optus my tab (i know that way too old)
    but 4.5" it's good

  • Nice phone but not a good idea to get VAYA at the moment, they need to get their act together to fix the usage metre. It is so inaccurate and it's mb per session, which means your data would be used up in less than 2 weeks.

    • Yeah, very slow updates…approx every 2 days from what I've noticed.

  • The only thing to be careful with Kogan is that they are grey imports not Aussie stock
