    I tried several heart monitors, whilst most were ok at resting heart rates once I got above about 100bpm I found most inaccurate.
    I tried Runtastic heart rate but found it no better than most when testing heart rate after exercise.
    I have found one to be fairly accurate no matter what your heart rate, even well above 100bpm it's still accurate.
    I use this regularly and it works very well.

      I used both and found that they are somewhat similar when monitoring resting HR. Not accurate when you are running etc. Runtastic pro is probably better since it let you store more information.

        I don't think any app like this will be very accurate whilst exercising as it is very hard to keep your finger steady on the camera lens during exercise.
        After exercise I found runtastic to be inaccurate if my heart rate was above about 100bpm, where as instant heart rate gives accurate results, though it was about 5 months ago that I tried runtastic heart rate, so I will download this upgrade it to pro and test it out during the week, maybe they have improved it since I tried it last.

    BTW, I had to restart not only the app but a phone as well in order to activate the pro version.

      You don't need to install that App of the Day app, just monitor OzB and click the supplied link. :)

      You need to install the free app then enter the code in settings and it will automatically upgrade you to pro

      It works with the nexus 7? It doesn't have a rear camera and flash..

        I don't have an Nexus 7 to confirm this, but the app description says you can use it with devices without a flash. It probably works better if you do have a flash.

        • If you are using a smartphone without a flashlight, be sure to be in a well-lit area for accurate heartbeat measurement
