If only the 840 was 830 or the Pro version…

    • +3

yep… was looking forward to the pro version… I guess I'll go and pick one up from MSY.

    • Is there an issue with the 840 for you to prefer the older 830 over it?

      • I'm after the 840 pro version.

      • From my limited amount of research they've taken a step back in performance

        • What you mean?

        • +1

Memory durability is significantly reduced from 830 to 840 (non pro).

That saying 840 will still last a very very long time for normal users.

    MOTHER OF GOD…cannot resist…

  • The 700VA EATON UPS links through to a product page that promeniently describes it as 7000VA UPS. I assume this is a typo on your website. :-)

    • +3

If you looked closely again, you will realize your eyes were playing tricks on ya :PPP

      cheers

  • quick question
    Eaton Standby Powerboard UPS 420W 7000VA 230V 3S70
how long will that keep the n54L up (4 green HDDs etc) and a cable modem? (no screens etc)

also 2. does it have a USB battery monitor so the PC can safly shut down when it detects its getting low? (i take it thats what this is?
The 3S features a HID-compliant USB port (cable supplied), for automatic integration with common operating systems (Windows/Mac OS/Linux) )

    • According to sources, Typical Backup Time is 15 minutes, my estimate is it should last at least 3 minutes

      • even with a microserver that only draws about 40-50 watts max?
I thought that was with a normal PC that draws about 150-200 watts?+

        • +2

Indication provided is a conservative estimate so we know we got at least 3 minutes to clean up the act before total blackout. Eaton website have an "estimator graph" that you might be interested in having a play around with:

          http://powerquality.eaton.com/3S700IEC.aspx?CX=3

Just hover around the graph and they show an estimate runtime.

        • awesome, just as i thought, about half an hour, enough to last most blackouts.

        • are you certain about most blackouts? I remember my last 2 blackouts took more than an hour ( in the morning, perhaps that's the reason? :P)

        • ahh crud, i accidently got the n40 instead of the 54, also why i thought it was such a good deal, can you please correct my order? (and let me know how to pay the rest)

          PM sent

        • I have an APC 700VA unit connected to my Microserver HTPC, I get ~22 min run time.

        • Please kindly contact our support team 02-83388899 ASAP to request for advise on how to resolve this.

I need an SSD, anybody need group A or B item? We can split the savings
    I'm in Ryde Sydney :-)

    • -2

its only 5 bux off the price….the freeshipping makes it worthile to get the drive on its own.

      • -5

Wouldn't call it a bargain, can get it from here for $175 http://greenboxit.com.au/product_info.php?products_id=70726

It's not far from me at all…

        • Don't they charge you $5 for pickup? Last time I checked they did which was enough to keep me away, may have changed though.

For the same price or less delivered to my door, I'd take this one over Greenbox.

        • I don't think that's neg-worthy, the SSD is not the only deal here and is still a good deal for those who can't get it locally.

        • $175.92

          • 92 cents more
          • No free shipping
          • Negs deal
          • Logic???
        • Apologies, didn't know there was a $5 pick up charge.
Even then, wouldn't call $6 savings a bargain, shoot me if you want.

        • If it's cheaper than any other place, what word would be appropriate? I haven't negged any of your comments btw so no need to get shirty with me :)

        • -3

It's not you mate, I too haven't negged any comments, I think all the negs I'm receiving are uncalled for :)

        • $6 is of course not a bargain, it is only around 3% savings - IT products such as SSD makes 300% markup on margins :).

  • Does this coupon stack with the tax_back promotion?

EDIT: Looks like it does stack!

    • yes, tax_back is applicable for All products under our Tax Back promotion and in this case the Servers, the powerboards and the drives.

For those holding the $50 Tax back voucher:
There are more Tax Back promotion coming up till end of next week. To find out more, either subscribe to our newsletter to be kept informed or keep checking this page - it will change to a new event once this ends.

      • Any chance in include the samsung drives for the tax discount?

      • hmm voucher doesn't work with samsung 120…

"Special Discount 'July Tax Return Promotion' from Shopping Express (TAX_BACK) only applies to specific products. Your order will be processed without this discount."

  • Are the Eaton UPSs before their "recharge by" date? The 3S boxes should have a label like this:

  • Do you know when you will be getting the newly release 840 Evo 1TB?

    • Very interested in this also, although in a smaller size. The write speeds look fantastic.

    • will have to find out more exact details - but it should not be too far away.

  • Newbie here.
If I'm using plex and serviio to stream my movies to my Samsung BluRay Home Theater, do i really need this (Micro server)?
Its purpose is just to watch movies, music videos etc on TV with Surround sound.

  • Dear ShoppingExpress, I was waiting for the N40L with 3TB Hard drive for $299 again, can you do still that deal?

    • Hi redhotchilli,

Those "deals" will probably go to ozbargain history book as one of the greatest Microserver combo deals :). With the depreciation of AUD and cost increase of both hard drives and microservers - you might never see it again. Those that grabbed and supported the deal - congrats, those that have not - consider today's deal and you might walk away with one of the better Microserver deals down the track, take heed or not is your call.

      Regards
      SE

  • Hey guys, I'm also after a SSD. Happy to share the discount with anyone who wants a NAS or Microserver. In Sydney.

    • +1

the discount on the SSD is only 5 bux, is it really worth your time stuffing around for 5 bux? IE just get the free shipping and order it for youself…

  • EDIT - Question was already asked above. My bad.

  • Rep, looking for a deal on N54L + WD Red 3TB (WD30EFRX)?

    • The drives above [Enterprise level drives - offering great energy efficiency and rock solid reliability] are the ones we have available at this promotion. Do consider a good look again as the prices we offered are very competitive and buying them as a combo gives you very good savings.

      Regards
      SE

        OK, you've swung me.

        …I'm such a hard sell

  • Must.. stop.. spending.. money!

  • Rep - any idea on when the Gen8 G2020T will be in stock?

    Thanks

    • Hi jubae g,

Should not be too far off, keep checking our website or ozbargain post.

      Regards
      SE

      • Thanks, yes my eyes are peeled and am eagerly awaiting them - particularly in conjunction with an OzBargain 'special' price.

Also - is the 8GB Kingston RAM (KTH-PL316S8G) compatible with the new Gen8's? It mentions some HP Proliant Gen8 servers but not the G2020T or the G1610T.

        • The ram compatibility list did not mentioned this product - just as the other Microservers similarly were not mentioned. However, they should work on the new Microservers.

  • +1

    Microserver bought. Thanks Shopping Express!

  • Any chance of some Synology (2 bay) NAS specials?

    • Not Synology as they are not too keen to "special" their products from what we can see.

      Regards
      SE

  • Is the SSD enough for everyday use/little bit of gaming? Or should I opt for the Sandisk Extreme 240GB for 30 bucks more at MSY?

Just wondering if the performance for extra 30 is really worth it.

  • @Rep

What do you have to do to get $100 rather than $50?

    • +1

Fork out $890 for the Buffalo TeraStation Pro 6

  • +1

Trying to buy an N54L and 700VA UPS, but there doesn't appear to be an "Add to Cart" button for the UPS.

Edit: Assuming this means out of stock. Is it possible for me to order it with the 550VA version for the discount and have it upgraded when stock is available?

    • I was trying to do the same, can't get either. Rather frustrating.

    • The 700VA UPS has run out of stock - only limited stock will be allocated for this promotion, so please consider the 550VA - e still have some of those left.

      Regards
      SE

  • .

  • Hey there rep - is there any chance you could do a deal on a 64Gb ssd (from any decent brand)? Everything I find seems to cost almost as much as a 120Gb drive - I was hoping to save more money vs a 120 :)

    • Hi Alzori,

We don't keep any 64GB SSD at the moment, as their price per GB is not that competitive (as you have seen) and most would choose 120GB.

      Regards
      SE

  • Can you do a similar deal with a Samsung 840 512GB Pro model? I'm keen to lock in an order for one of these over the weekend.

  • Hi Rep what is this tax back promotion that everyone here is talking about ? How do I get in on that?
    I want to buy a NAS + 2 x 2 TB hard drives.

    • It's a $50 voucher that was given to people who bought in June. I'm one of those who didn't find anything I wanted in the sales, and without it these prices are quite ordinary; at least on the micro-servers.

  • N54L is out of stock, N40L still available.

  • Hi OP,

Will there be any N54L back in stock? Seems we missed out :(

  • HI OP I also want a N54L can you please help us out:)

  • I was also considering buying the N54L but now I saw the Dlink DNS-345 or the Netgear ReadyNAS 104 (have not checked out Netgear ReadyNAS 314 as it's over my budget for now) and they both look like great products and will do what i need it for.

any recommendations guys for one of those products?

I mainly need it to save my music, photos and movies and would like to use it to stream to my PS3.

I know the D-Link can do all of that but I got 3 x 1TB disks (2 x ST1000340NS + 1 x ST1000NM0011) but none of them are on the list of compatible drives.

Or should I go for the N40L (N54L out of stock) and go through the hassle of all setups?

  • Expired already? The code said "weekend" so I thought it was for the weekend. Was gonna order either an N40L or N54L.

    • Same here, I was planning on having a better look today.

    • Same here, was hoping to get the N54L and the UPS today, its either "after" the weekend or no stock left.

      • The N40L is still in stock, the coupon just doesn't work. Sigh!

    • I pasted the code into the checkout at 12:04 this morning :-(

The ShoppingExpress front page still advertised the deals, but I couldn't get in on them, for the sake of 4 minutes.

      Yay for the weekend, huh?

  • Usually quite slow for shipping? Ordered 19th and still being 'picked'.

    • Maybe they're a bit backed up? I ordered the afternoon of the 19th and I was sent a dispatch notice yesterday.
