  • It may be for non advantage member plus members who are members of Le Club. The email I received states that I am receiving the offer because of my dual status.

    • As far as I know, I'm only a 'Le Club' member. The email I received says "As a Le Club Accorhotels member, the more you stay with us blah blah blah". I signed up when someone posted the 'free membership' thing on OzBargain more than a year ago, I've never, ever, booked or checked in with the membership, and they still offered it to me! :-)

    Great if you're going to be meeting that criteria for business/holiday trips, not so great if you're just trying to get a Samsonite bag for cheap :P

    • Yes, you would not stay just to get the free bag.

  • Bugger - I booked a MGallery hotel last night using my 'Platinum' LeClub status… for November :-(

    I'd better get a free room upgrade, or I'm going to be LeGrumpy.

    • I think it would be ineligible anyway, seeing how this ends in Oct.

      • Yep, that's why I said 'Bugger' :-(

  • I wonder if condition g. which mentions "eligible rate " excludes the discounted rooms?

    • I am sure it does.

      • +1

        if it excludes the discounted room rates which are often more than 50% off then it doesn't seem like a bargin to me. I would rather get a cheaper room price.

      Is anyone actually able to confirm whether 'eligible rate' excludes discounted rooms? My understanding from reviewing documentation on the Accor website is that an 'eligible rate' is when purchased via the Accor website directly (not third party). Anyone have any thoughts?

      EDIT: Trawling has come up with the following definition of eligible rates (see https://secure.accorhotels.com/gb/leclub/pdf/terms-and-condi…)

      Eligible rates entitle the Customer to benefit from the Program.
      Eligible rates are as follows: all public, corporate and promotional rates,
      with the exception of the following rates:
      – room rates for business orleisure group reservations where the rooms
      are booked as part of a conference or an organised trip on a group
      account or settled globally (exceptMeetingPlanner promotional offers);
      – the “Partner Rates” tariff;
      – room rates for crew (airline crew, shipping or other);
      – the Accor employees’ rate, employees of partner companies and
      providers to the Accor Group;
      – tour operators rates.

      So it would appear that the discounted rates on offer at the moment ARE in fact eligible - making this a really good deal (i.e. 4 x one night stays at different hotels (non ibis and more than 5 km apart) for approx $70 per night gives you the samsonite for $280). Not worth a neg in my book.

      • What 4 eligible hotels are you finding for ~$70 per night?

        • Plenty in regional victoria - Ibis Styles Sale - $57, Mercure Postsea $74.50 (an absolute bargain), Mercure Mildura - $72 and Mercure Port of Echuca $72

        • Oh right, didn't realise it included Quay West, The Sebel,
          Grand Mercure, Novotel, Mercure, ibis or ibis Styles hotels. I'm used to the perks only being for Sofitel, Pullman, and MGallery. Thanks adelee.

        • I booked at ibis styles eagle hawk in canberra for $44. $44 x4 =$176 spend to hopefully qualify for the offer. It might be worth renewing my advantage plus membership ($299) for this?

  • +1

    Is there any way you can claim this after having booked already?

    • No you need to register for the offer first

  • -2

    "Le Club Accorhotels points cannot be redeemed against this rate" has appeared on most of the discounted rates including the early bird rates. So now I cant even get points on the discounted rates?? I have always got points before. No happy and not a bargin!

    • No, what that means is that you can't use points to pay for the discounted rate. You still earn points for the money you pay.

      • Oh thanks for clarifying. Neg vote revoked.

  • How you claim the bag?Hotel give it to you when you check out?

    • +1

      I'd doubt that every eligible property in Australia has a stack of Samsonite cases waiting to be given out. Would imagine Accor would post them out once the eligibility has been processed.

  • Still good sale deals in regional Victoria - Balgownie Estate Winery $115 night (down from $280), Portsea Mercure Resort $75 on selected Sundays (usually $250 +) which will get you well on your way to your samsonite. Check out the "view best rates by month" feature for individual hotels on the Accor website

  • hoq many claims can you make on this? for example if I have 4 bookings and got my suitcase, if i stay another additional 3 bookings after that within the promo period, do I get the backpack?

    • Not sure, but you could consider signing up for another classic account so that the additional bookings are linked to another member number (a pain for consolidating points though).

  • looks like the bookings must be made via the le club website. if its an employer who makes the booking can we just add the leclub member number later on? not sure if that qualifies:(
