  • I saw someone scanned their invitation letter , it shows 1st Aug ?

  • DO you need an invitation under your name to enter?

    • Just turning up is fine. There will be lots of people and big queues. Big savings if you are prepared to line up. FYI it took me over an hour to pay last time, but I did save over $1500 on electrical items. (All items I purchased were cheaper than best price online)

Also good deals on flooring. I ordered carpet last time and it was cheaper than any sale I have seen.

FYI, this event excludes "Agency brands". I believe these could include Meile and Asko.

  • Same even is happening at Water Garden store too.

  • Any chance of some examples of savings? half price? games clearance?

    • +7

Half price off monster cables. Bargain

  • worth a try

  • How about mac discounts, anyone know?

    • +1

According to the letter, macs will also be discounted.

      • does it say by how much?

      • +2

Yep, Macs included, but remember staff pricing on a mac will not be a massive discount. However, I would hope it would be as good as the DS sale prices.

One thing that may be good is that I would expect (but can't guarantee) you could order a built to spec mac at the discounted price. The Dick Smith specials are always for stock only. All items i purchased last time were not in stock.

        • Tempting. Did they have any sort of price discount? Or do I have to go in and see?

        • +2

Unfortunately you have to go in. Just make sure you know your prices.

        • Cool, thanks for the info.

  • +2

anyone can upload a scan of the letter? cheers..

What discount do staff normally get? I guess if you know a staff member you can get these prices any day?

    • It a different for every product. It depends on their purchase price.

  • +1

I also received the VIP letter from my Watergardens store.

Possibly might be worth taking a look, but as mentioned previously , pays to know your prices.

  • Chadstone were quoting staff price last week. When I compared the price with close by competitors, it was more expensive at HN. I suspect the reason they are having a so called VIP night on a Wednesday night is that there will probably be no bricks and mortar competitors open. If you are considering buying on the night, ask if they have free wifi so that you can compare their prices. Do not believe the prices that Gerry's boys say that the product are reduced by. Gerry's extended warranties are not worth buying. Accessories are always over priced at Harvey Norman and don't get me started on rip off Monster cables and power boards. Officeworks will be open at Chadstone so they will be able to beat HN prices by 5% for computer hardware, on the night.

    • I don't think OW will beat the VIP prices as they will be unable to verify them.

Last time i bought a Bosch Dishwasher, Blanco Oven, Blanco Rangehood, Fisher and Paykel Freezer and Sharp Steamer/Microwave.
I knew my prices before hand including reviewing online stores like Appliances Online.
In each case HN were cheaper and I actually ended up with the next model up dishwasher due to an extra special on the night.

Any OzBargainer should know their prices before hand.
If something is cheaper elsewhere tell them - on the microwave they were about $5 cheaper than online. I told them I had seen it $20 cheaper and they matched it. Over all about $100 off the GG price.
On the oven RRP $4000, the cheapest online was $3300 and I got it for $3000. So good deals to be found.

Also as mentioned, flooring was cheap. If you know your prices, the VIP prices where cheaper than the big sales HN have.

Just don't be disappointed if the Apple mac book discount is not that big. Some items have little room to move on price (like apple), others can be reduced dramatically (especially white goods).

  • Take a smart phone photo of Harvey's VIP computer prices, present to Officeworks on Wednesday night and you have just made an easy 5%.

    • Last time some computers had prices, but a lot of items in the store did not. A lot of the time you needed to wait for a HN guy to look up the price in the computer. The other issue is that the range at HN and OW are different. But you could always try your luck, especially if you know what you want and it is sold at both stores.

FYI, out of the 5 whitegoods items I bought, only one had a price tag on it.

  • Is the Water Gardens VIP sale on tomorrow? I'm keen to drive out there but I'd hate to be turned away at the door for not having an invite…no one likes a party crasher!

    • I have been to a few of these at 3 Melbourne stores and they have never checked for invites.

    • Screw it. I'm going there tomorrow night without an invite. You'll see me in my long johns and moccasins. Btw it's not water gardens. It's Water G's.

  • anyone got this letter from bne? just asking

  • hey dudes, any chance of the coburg store having a this on too tonight? will they tell me if i ring up?
    thanks!

    • They should tell you. It is up to each franchise if they hold the event and when they hold the event.

FYI, Preston held an event about 6 weeks ago and Thomastown held one about 3 weeks ago.

  • Wow was that pointless. Basically wasted an hour of my time. Looking around, appliances were still more expensive during the "VIP sale" than appliancesonline sticker price. Its extremely funny hearing some people say "WOW its soooo cheap marked down from $149!!!…" when that price is probably above RRP. Was looking at Xperia phones and saw this guy and his wife blocking the glass cabinet from everyone else just so they could buy a Nokia N8 at $99. LOL only three years too late :D

    • Not sure what you wanted, but if you knew your prices, you should have just asked HN to beat it. Has worked for me.

  • +1

Agreed, if you know your prices it can save you a bunch ! I just saved around $725 for my appliances (in comparison to ApplianceOnline prices) - Gas Cooktop, Oven, Rangehood, Dishwasher and Washing Machine..
