        What grade is masterfoods saffron?

I guess you'd have to buy a bit to save money on the shipping.

        • +3

          What grade is masterfoods saffron?

No idea, but I've used both masterfoods and iranian pushal saffron threads, and found the masterfoods threads to only add colour but not taste to the food.

What moocher said. Unfortunately, here on Ozbargain, people would buy cardboard if you labeled it as Saffron and made it half-price, then defend the decision.

    • +2

The saffron witch is sale in Woolworths is Indian saffron, We sale Persian Saffron witch is rare in the world any body know the color,Purity and taste of Persian saffron cant compare to other type of Saffron.
You must compare quality in saffron next to price.

      • "witch"….

        • +4

          and "quilty" :p

anyways….. good bargain provided this is proper saffron and not safflower

EDIT: and 90% of the worlds supply of saffron comes from Iran… hardly makes it "rare"

      • +1

If you drive ferrari, it doesn't mean Holden is crap..If you sell persian saffron does not imply that indian saffron at woolworths is not good…just saying…

        • -2

when Indian saffron is not good and any body know it and doesn't have good quality why I said is good!?

        • +7

And what you said is impossible to decipher.

        • +3

          I have no words….

From what I think you are trying to say, I disagree that one is better than the other for everyone. That is an opinion. I do however agree that it is only fair to compare like for like

        • -1

I think you never seen Saffron up close

        • +3

          Naah I never did.
Btw, your previous two attempt to sold saffron on ozbargain were unpublished with reason Banned site and Sockpuppeting.

          Is nice! High five!

        • +12

dear, your attitude won't help you win many customers from OZB…

        • da vinci code. impossible to decode

        • +2

Even wikipedia does note the most potent varieties of saffron are from iran (aka persia)
"Saffron is graded via laboratory measurement of crocin (colour), picrocrocin (taste), and safranal (fragrance) content."….
" Italian varieties are slightly more potent than Spanish; the most intense varieties tend to be Iranian."
          http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saffron#Varieties

And …… a ferrari is just another league of engineering to anything sold under the holden badge tho GM do have other marques

Thanks, didn't know about your store before, I usually get my pushal saffron from:
    http://premiumgourmetfood.com.au/products/saffron.html
but it looks like you have a better selection of packet sizes.

I couldn't see your an ABN on your website though - might be useful to increase consumer confidence.

  • +1

That is a very specific store…

    • -3

      why?

  • +4

This seller reminds me of the Soup Nazi. "Why you no like saffron?! No saffron for you, come back one year!"

  • +1

why $5 shipping for something you can put into a 60c envelope? Can you do that for us for the .5 and 1 gram units? make it $1 shipping? or $2 if you use a $1.60 envelope max 2cm thick?

  • +3

    whats with the attitude?

  • +5

What a crappy attitude from the two not to mention lack of into on the site "witch" won't inspire customer confidence. I'd buy some but with those two reasons I'd rather head down to my local spice shop that I normally get my dose of Irani saffron from. Rep you need to sort out your expensive shipping rates for something that's as light as a feather.

Starting from $6 for 0.5g with free delivery cheaper than this

Last time you posted a deal which you claim 40% off, there was none. (that post was removed), this time 35% off, but none again. When will you learn to get it right.

  • Dear Haz, many thanks for your comments. as you might know saffron price changes over time - i would say almost every month. our prices change with a number of factors specially with the prices at the source. however, we are striving to maintain our prices as low as possible while we offer the highest quality persian saffron.

  • Dear linnaen, if you refer to the webpage of auspost you will find out that the cheapest price for a parcel including its packet price comes to AUD1.55+6.95. this is sometimes even higher for orders above 20gr. as we are trying to keep our saffron prices as low as possible there is no other option to add part of postage charges to the order amount.

    • you can use large letter for anything less than 2cm thick up to a4 (at least) size
surely a 1g box or vacuum pack would fit? Why did you ignore me saying this?

      • the orders we normally receive are not just 1gr box or vacuum packages. FYI, we have never had an order to fit letter definition (Width less than 20mm) and we pay $6.95 for postage cost and over $1.0 for the bag. i think you have another problem than only shipping cost! plz be honest to yourself…

Dear Trishool, i would apologize for the posts that my friend sent this evening. what i would like to say is that we always try to keep our customers happy with the quality of our products. that is why we have regular customers from all around Australia. i hope that you will try and enjoy our high quality Persian saffron.

  • Dear moocher, many thanks for reminding me of that info. we will be adding descriptions very soon.

When u first posted deal, you wrote about ISO 9000/9001 certification in deal but with your edit of op, 9000/9001 has gone and HACCP appeared. Why do you give false information at first place. I don't have anything personal against you but its ridiculous that you are misleading ozb people.

    • I've noticed that too (along with the unprofessional attitude). Rep.. I cannot help but find this store highly dubious. I would rather do my shopping somewhere else.

    • +1

Dear cniminc: when we changed the certificate that does mean that we do not hold the previous certificate or we have provided our potential customers with false information. we are importing and distributing Esfedan (Goliran) saffron in Australia that holds the following certificates. you might have a look at the esfedan website for detailed information at: http://www.esfedansaffron.com/

      Certificates:
1.Winner of the title “the best exporter of saffron in Iran” in the years 2004,2010,2011 and recipient of a distinction plaque from the President

2.Winner of the title “the best exporter of saffron in Khorassan” in the years 2002, 2003 ,2004,2006,2007,2008,2009,2010,2011
3.Receiving the hygiene license from Office for Inspection of foodstuff
4.Recipient of two national standards from the office for Standards and Industrial Research
5.Recipient of the International Certificate HACCP
      6.Recipient of ISO9001:2008 & ISO9001:22000 Certificate
7.Holder of the exploitation number from Organization for Industries and Mines

      • What happened in 2005?

        • Dear Morini, as you might know and according to available statistics like in Wikipedia over 92 percent of saffron is cultivated in Iran and majority of it is exported to the four corners of the world. therefore, it is extremely competitive to gain the title of “the best exporter of saffron in Khorassan”. Khorassan is the main land in Iran to cultivate Saffron. Obviously in 2005 another company had won the prize. Winning the title for more than 9 years is an indication of our product high quality. hope this helps you!

  • And the deal is….what?

    • Umm general advertising with no details is now permitted :)

    • deal is up to 35% OFF on some of the products. please visit our website www.persiansaffroncentre.com.au for more information.
