Vita Audio Ruark R1 Digital Radio - Normal RRP $399

For a limited time, buy at Pacific Hi Fi - $178 only

According to WHAT HI-FI.com (The World's Most Trusted Tech Review) - Vita Audio Ruark R1 Digital Radio is the Best DAB/FM radio, Awards 2012. Poised sound and stylish looks: the Ruark R1 MkII never fails to impress. (Ref :http://www.whathifi.com/review/ruark-audio-r1-mkii)

  • The R1 allows users to set their radio as they like it! As you would expect from Vita/Ruark's long audio heritage, sound quality is exceptional, but now with the facility to adjust tone and a loudness option, customers can ‘fine tune’ the sound to suit their own taste.

  • Other improvements include a high contrast ‘easy to read’ display, comprehensive alarm system and two quality accessories which add further to the new R1’s wide range of abilities.

  • Vita Audio Ruark R1 digital radio in gloss black

  • Vita Audio Ruark R1 digital radio in gloss white

no problems with the technology or the radio. it's the radio stations that are crap… at least where i am.

    • i love the extra stations on dab+. In fact i can't even remember the last time i listened to a regular station. At work we listen to Mix90s and in the car/at home i listen to DanceSuperDigi, Koffee, Buddha or Loveland.

    • This unit has a detachable antenna. We have had a lot of success using a simple VHF TV antenna to improve reception in fringe areas. Let me know where you are and we might be able to offer better advice on how to specifically improve your Digital Radio experience

Is digital radio good? I wonder who will win the race to my place: the NBN, digital radio or the grim reaper.

    • from all the images ive seen of the reaper he drives a tuned hot rod or bike. So he has speed on his side.

According to WHAT HI-FI.com … the Ruark R1 MkII never fails to impress

    Are you selling MkII?

    • YES. We are selling R1 MKII model.

  • Is this a shipped price or pick-up only, therefore a Sydney only deal?

    • Did you check the webpage Capt Asswad…

      • Instore pick up or flat rate shipping available

  • Wish it was an internet/network radio aswell :( I'm not enough of a audiophile to think this is anything but expensive…. oh well good luck people!

    • Pacific Hi Fi have other solutions with Internet radio from brands like SMS, Cambridge Audio (3 models), Vita Audio R4 etc.

    • Of course if you have a smart phone, you could easily plug this into the socket on the back of Vita R1 MkII and presto you can now have internet radio as well. Do the same for Spotify, MOG, Rdio etc.

  • Is it AC powered or batteries? (Yes, I did look at specs). Says it's portable.

    • You have to buy the proprietary battery pack separately. Plugs into the AC jack and is rechargeable. Check out the "backpack" accessory at the bottom of the site

Im not sure who sells these but the reps store does not.

    • for portable analogue, $69 http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/106228 is hard to beat :)

      • I bought the Tangent Alio Jnr due to that deal and while exceptional value for the quality of the product two things annoy me
        1. You cant charge your batteries in the unit. The battery door is secured by a screw which you have to remove each time you change the batteries.
        2. If you have the AC adapter plugged into the unit, the radio will not function on battery power, even if the mains power is off. So you need to unplug the unit if you want to use it on battery power.

  • I remember it being cheaper at $189 shipped from a previous deal if you need shipping
    http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/109844

    • Yep, if you only have the choice of AM or FM then the Tangent is good value, however if you want clear radio and live in an area serviced with Digital radio, then the Vita Audio is the one to get especially at the special price of $178! (sorry I posted this as a reply to wrong person, should have been under toneteser's comment, please accept my aplogies purpletroll
