      My main computer is a ThinkPad with i5-580M, and once you throw an SSD in, it's fast enough for most everyday work (including developing & testing this website). Obviously not for gaming.

        It's more how quickly the first gen's burnt through battery. In a cheaper laptop they were painful.

        I am not sure about the 6550's but the 4520's (gen1 and 2) both fried SSDs due something HP had done (I went through 4 SSDs in 3 weeks on RA before they finally realised)

    Thought it comes with an i5 CPU and a Nvidia 580M at $400- price, felt so bad about missing another good deal, before I had a closer look.

      not great, my laptop with a first gen i3 only lasted at max 2 hours.
