For anyone wondering (like I was) the "EVCS" isn't a typo but another spawning of the WD range. It seems to employ 16mb cache like the older "EACS" but WD claim the EVCS is for 24hr use. To me it smells a little like excess EACS units being rebadged, or in other words the "EADS" models are still the ones to get due to their 32MB cache.

I want to give this deal a positive vote but unless you can pick it up the postage kills it.

Agree, the postage from shoppingsquare is unreasonably high.

  • Approx +15% for postage :S

colleague got samsung 1tb for $129 from fluidtek yesterday.

same speed same size… not good deal imo.

    • too bad you had to buy 4 to get that price…….pls don't be misleading, it doesn't make you cool

  • I have concerns over postage of HDDs, that is to say the handling during transit by Aust post. Are they posted with a fragile sticker on them?

    • Modern hard disks can take around 200-300G's of shock when they're not powered. I've never had a problem with shipped hard disk — usually they'll be in some sort of protective packaging anyway.

  • For those in WA, Austins have this $148 online, $155 in store. This HDD has been around since late-ish last year. Great for your PVRs.
