  • everything is great except the connection glitz in between the tablet and keyboard plus the keyboard is not extended battery.got one from Myer last time for 550$ though, you still can pricematch with OW based on my old post

    • I had that problem with an early XE700. Brought it in to Samsung, they replaced a connector in the dock under warranty, and it hasn't happened since.

so are u saying the keyboard does not have a build in extended battery?

Don't diss the current range of Atom tablets until you've tried them. They're nothing like the awful Atom slowbooks you've seen in the past. These are VERY usable for everyday tasks like surfing the net, MS Office, that sorta thing. They feel fast and zippy. Very responsive.

I have a Dell Latitude 10 with the same CPU, it is hopeless for multitasking, transcoding and forget about games, unless freecell is your bag.

        • Why would you transcode on a tablet? Would you transcode video on an ipad?
That's what your desktop is for.

These tablets are definitely not for heavy multitaskers or gamers. They were never marketed for that, and were never designed for that sort of use. Surely you can use some common sense there.

        • I have a tablet that I transcode whatever I like. I would suggest anyone wanting something more powerful than this to consider the $899 Windows Surface Pro.

        • I'm wondering what you need to transcode on a x86 Windows PC? You should be able to get codecs for pretty much anything?

        • I did consider a Surface Pro but the heavy weight and short battery life and heavy weight put me off it. I ended up with a thinkpad tablet 2 which is nearly half the weight and has double the battery life.

For heavier tasks I just use my 13.3" i5 laptop which is only 250g heavier than the 10.6" Surface Pro.

      • I had a Vivotab Smart but found it unusable. Maybe it was because mine was faulty though as it was constantly freezing while doing simple tasks so I had to return it.

        • It was definitely faulty. There are two Vivotab Smarts here in the office and they work normally.
