    So is this any good?

This would have been perfect for the 250GB Samsung 840 SSD. Key words being "would have".

    • +2

Doesn't Samsung Wizard let you do this?

  • good post OP, thanks very much

  • Thanks, their free partitioning software is great so will have to give this a go

  • +3

Cha-ching! Use this link to download it now: http://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:c_60_c-…

Just click on "Get It For Free" button.

    Cheers OP!

  • Anybody knows what this is?

    AFD drives

  • I'm getting empty emails from them. Has the promotion run out or is it some error on their part?

  • Thanks OP !
Going to replace my ssd soon, so this'll be handy.

  • What is the difference between the compact version and the pro version?

  • Reinstalling windows is a good idea anyway as it slows down over time.

    • +2

I was just about to say this! But honestly, the features of a good hard drive utility can't be overlooked when needed.

    • Installing Linux is an even better idea

Use to be the case say in the Windows 95/98 era.. But I have a Windows XP install that's been chugging along for 7 years, and another that's been running Windows 7 since release date.

With this in mind, these disk utilities I have used because the disk drives die faster than the OS now lol.. You hear the clicking you do the imaging.

      • +1

Nope, still happens. If you take good care of your OS (defragment, cleaning up), yes, that will help, but the fact still remains that your registry gets clogged up over time with junk, undeleted keys, corrupt ones and keys that are missing. This ofcourse also has a lot to do with how one uses his or her PC.

I am currently in the process of doing a reinstall. My Win 7 laptop isn't as responsive and reliable as he used to be back when i first got him, so migrating my current build seems unwise. Sometimes it's just best to start fresh …especially when you just got yourself a new SSD drive. =p

        • i think depends, win 7 or above usually wont slow down as much as windows XP , unless you are using a 3+ years old machine which is time to buy a new one :D

I think OSX is even worse, slow down sooo much compare with a fresh one even it is a 18 months old machine :( need to reinstall the OSX once a year ~

  • Just starting installing and it asks for a product key and serial. Won't install without it.

    However, the email says

"Download using the link above and install the software.

No registration code is needed to unlock this software."

    What's going on?!?

    • +2

You need to click the 'registration' button on the product/serial screen. It then took me to a webpage to fill in my name/email.. I got a serial instantly once I filled out the form..

      • yep, too easy.

        Thanks mate

      • from the commments here http://www.bitsdujour.com/software/paragon-drive-copy-12-com…

After downloading the product you should register it to get your Serial and the Product Key. Please Click "Registration" button in the installation window, fill in the form and you'll receive your registration data via e-mail.

      • I can't install it yet. What is the registration url so I can get a key?
Edit: Vladdo posted the URL below. Thanks.

  • Download link missing in email. Still says deal is running for another 18hr. Can anyone provide a link to the downloaded software. Thanks

  • If the program does it what it suppose to do than it will be awesome, atm downloading.

    Cheers.

  • Thanks

fyi, hotmail.com & outlook.com accounts appear to be blocked from receiving the serial emails. www.guerrillamail.com works fine.

  • This was great with my transition from Raptor drive to SSD.

  • Will have to do it in the morning… Don't think it'll work on the iPad! ;)

    • Hopefully it recovers from being hit so badly by oz bargain! The website isn't even showing the cached version!

      • Uh-oh, Something isn't working right. We've dispatched our squad of techies to track it down!

Please click 'Back' and try again.

        This is the current message…

Great to see you guys all enjoying the deal!

Sorry for the earlier slowness on the site - we brought on new servers to handle the increased load. It's our busiest day ever.

The site should be running super-quick now.

An alternative to this if you don't mind creating a bootable USB/CD is CloneZilla.

  • Hi guys, newbie question here. My current drive is already making clicking sounds. If I backup all the drive using this software and install a new drive to my laptop, will restoring the backup image to the new drive will make all my installed software work like in the original drive or do I need to re-install software apps again to work ?

  • Hi rep..Received an email without download link..

  • Hi, does anyone know if the software has to be registered within the 'special deal' period? I have the serial key but I wanted to register it when I get home from work tonight - which is after the offer has expired.

    Thanks.

  • I have the email, anyway to get the serial without installing it?

I just want to have the serial for a rainy day, plus I am on an iPad or the next 8 hours.

  • +2

Here's the registration URL for those unable to install the software straight away..

    http://registration.paragon-software.com/dc12compact.html

    • Thanks

    • +2

Oops… It'll then email you a product code & serial number.. doh

  • Thanks Op. Downloaded, installed and working away. Cheers.

  • We have too many choices nowadays. Thanks!

  • oops, wrong post

  • Will this help with my issue? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/115071
Ignore it being a Samsung SDD, but any SDD in general. I want to install an SSD as a boot drive, instead of my current HDD

  • site is still getting smashed…

  • Looks like they've extended the free deal for a few more hours. Couldn't finish the download yesterday and still can't today :( Can the file be obtained anywhere else?

  • Thank you Sparkzhu
