It's $99 at MSY if it's in stock at a store near you.

    http://msy.com.au/product.jsp?productId=11324

    • It's actually listed as $95.00 at Centercom to purchase in store.
Don't know why tinku listed it including postage, as it may vary.
Also, says couldn't find any pickup option, there's a link to check availability at all stores.

They had it for 99 a few months back as well. But this is still a great price.
Can be price matched at jb…which is what I did.

    • I hadn't realised it's $95 listed on the website. Which means $95 instore.
Which makes it an even better deal than what I thought. Plus vote from me!

You say that "Was looking for portable HDD came across…", but be aware that I think this is an "EXTERNAL" HDD, not a "PORTABLE" HDD.

The Differences Between Portable and External Hard Drives

TL;DR - portable HDD is USB powered (which this HDD is)

    • It's 2.5", it's USB powered, and it (just) fits in my jeans pocket… It's portable ;)

      • A full sized external drive plus power adaptor fits in my cargo pants. So that can be classed as portable too.

        • I use my laptop on my desk, which makes it a desktop.

  • Is this Seagate any good? I think it's $130 AU delivered for the next 10 mins.

  • Would this work on a softmodded Wii? Sorry if this is a stupid question, just curious as im not sure if they will support USB powered HDDs.
    Cheers guys.

    • I'm not sure it will work for Wii or not. But for PS3 if you wanna upgrade(replace the original one), I'm quite sure it won't work as it is different from normal Notebook HDD. Check this video at 4:32 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7eFkjx9oWfI

      • Thanks, the connections shouldn't affect it though should it? As its not an internal replacement, just a usb connection, which is why I'm not sure if it will be able to use a USB powered hdd.
I'll give it a try anyway, if id doesn't work with it, I can always use more storage anyway!
Thanks for the response man :)

        • No worries, I also googled and found that you can plug Extension HDD (3.5'' with adapter) to Wii. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-fSILdzgl5M
But I'm still not recommend you to plug Portable HDD to Wii as it might have low power on your HDD and sometimes Wii might not recognize your HDD.

I haven't try it yet, just assume there is some chance to have that issue so I hope it will work fine.
          Good Luck!

        • I purchased one of these, and although I don't own a Wii, I don't see why it wouldn't work on one.
They work on usb3 and usb2 ports, as stated on the box, and I have used it on the telstra Tbox which is usb2. As far as I know the power output of a usb port is standard, so any device that plugs into the port will work. That is why some devices, such as external DVD player/recorders that need more power usually come with an extra usb cable or power supply for extra power.

Centre com is one of the worst shops i have ever had to deal with. I would never buy from them again even if just for half the price and i also would never recommend them or any of the deals they offer to anyone

  • What differences are there between these older looking ones and the new passport style ones besides the cosmetics?

    • i think the passport ones come with backup software

  • Totally agreed with dosada. Dont trust Centre com, had bad experience with these guys.

  • i just bought 1TB toshiba 2.5" canvio - for $75 from officeworks

it was published for $99, but i saw same at $79 at centrecom

went to officeoworks and they beat it by 5%, so worked out to $75

  • I was looking on the website and it says $99 then $6.95 postage so how is it $101 delivered

    • Was $95 earlier

    • Price seems to fluctuate. Last night I saw it at $95.00 but today it's $99.00.
I suppose they'll say it's because of the fluctuation in the Aussie dollar…
