Harman Kardon Soundsticks 3 - 2.1 Speaker System - $124.99 @ Costco Auburn (Membership Required)

700

While I was looking at getting Calvin and Hobbes I stumbled upon the Harman Kardon Soundsticks 3 - 2.1 speaker system.

Last time these were reported here at OzBargain, they were $199 from JB-Hi-Fi. It helps if you are, or know someone who is a Costco member. Not sure if other Costco stores stock these.

There were about 20 units on display.
edit: went in store today (12/09/2013) - heaps still available (possibly restocked)

    Wanna buy some sound sticks?

You don't want to sell me sound sticks.

I don't want to sell you sound sticks.

You want to go home and rethink your life.

      What did I just read?

    • You've brilliantly tied the loop from Deathsticks in a bar with Obi Wan, to sound sticks, which in turn makes me think of Obi Wan, in a Cantina, with a band playing.

      • I think 'brilliantly' is a bit of an exaggeration, reading it without quotes is most confusing. So although the association was interesting, the typed application was pretty appalling.

        • That's why it worked so well.

  • These look secsi. Anyone know if Costco Melbourne sell them?

    • +2

i didn't see them there today

Thanks for letting us know. Too bad. Would have bought them! :(

    • Costco Melbourne has them now ;)

Pretty decent sound. Great price, too.

Tip: cover the top port of the subwoofer when not using it… bugs moths and dust get in and can zap the electronics and amp inside. I use a tennis ball or ping pong ball.
Funnier when you leave the ping pong ball in the port and crank the music up :)

    Sound Sticks rock.

    • I'd like to see a video of that!

    any one checked Costco Melbourne?

    • +5

      Yeah. It's pretty big.

  • Would these work plugged into my TV?

  • I haggled the last set of these from JB in chadstone (VIC) for $170

    Completely Worth It

  • these are the greatest. such a great investment. they were 600 odd when they first released them

  • are these blue tooth connection or wifi?

    • nup, these have neither, though you can connect a cheap bluetooth to 3.5mm adaptor as the input source.

so want 1! Too bad i'm in perth =(

    • Me too =/

  • Had a listen of these today, great sound and bass! Excellent at this price point.

They look alright, but only 10W RMS per speaker? And lack of USB input? Two thumbs down :(

any bought one?….can i have the receipt to match with JBhifi…

    Thank you

    • I would be interested in this too!

      Thanks!

      • Stores won't match Costco. And they not obliged to. If they do it's your lucky day

  • Too bad, I have a small study desk to place it

    • Sub can go on floor :)

  • I'm stuck working currently. So I'm just wondering please if anybody has had a chance to check with Docklands today as to whether they have any of these in stock?

  • +1

    nothing at Docklands.

    • +1

Yup I can confirm this too. Went first thing this morning. Na-da!

      • Bummer! Thanks for answering Creamsoda and Apey75. :)

  • Amazing price. Bought mine a few months ago for $180. Very good quality speakers

Look great when clean, look awful when dusty and you can't get at the dusty parts to clean

will stick with my old ATP3s

  • Shame, they really look good

  • There is a pallet of these at Costco Docklands right now.

  • -1

they look good but sound shit IMO.
I've got them hooked up to TV and by far not powerful enough and also can't hear conversations properly in movies

  • Just bought these today and they are definately an awesome upgrade and can't compete for the price, things to note they are PC speakers, not HI Fi speakers so don't expect hi fi quality for $125.. OBVIOUSLY!

They are a definite upgrade to the inbuilt speakers on my 27inch imac.

  • Any of you still interested, they're still available at Melbourne Docklands. About 20-30 of them on display. Picked one up.

  • 20+ still available at costco auburn
