OEM version only, must purchase with hardware.

Why do people pay for antivirus programs when there are a couple of really good free ones. I've not had a virus on my computer for many years, so you don't necessarily have to pay for protection.

    Try Avira AntiVir.

      Yes, good choice.

Also for consideration, our favourite freeby antivirus, the excellent Avast.

We've previously used Nod 32 & Kaspersky before switching to Avast Free and have never had any problems with it.

  • OneCare is being discontinued by Microsoft in June 2009. See:
    http://www.microsoft.com/Presspass/press/2008/nov08/11-18NoC…

They say they will provide something new to replace it for FREE. So, I would just wait a couple of months and use that.

    • So by your logic we should go without AV for a few months until MS offer a free version. Not to mention the free AV has been delayed til the end of the year making this offer very worthwhile - read http://www.theinquirer.net/inquirer/news/706/1051706/microso… for more info.

MS also said they will be supporting all subscriptions until they expire. One Care is more than just AV, it has a lot of nifty tools for beginners who want to keep their PC in check

Very light on resources, but not the best scanner admittedly. Definitely a bargain, though.
