    From the website:

    "What happens after 30 Days?

This is not an ongoing Plan offer. We'll contact you before 30 days is up and help you build a new plan for the next month based on what you've used - check out our plan builder for ongoing pricing. Alternatively you can top-up and pay as you go on our great value standard rates. If you decide you don't want to continue with Yatango after 30 days, simply let us know, remove your SIM, and on you go. No hard feelings."

looks like you can back out if you don't like their service.

    No SSL for CC details?

    Exclusive offer for Kogan customers

  • how hard will it be to get it cancelled?

do we need to call in or email?

  • +9

I have been trying to port my number for nearly 3 weeks now. They don't have a phone number to call, customer service is horrible. If you are going to port a number to yatango then I would not get this but if you want a new number then you can try your luck.

Once I saw the word Kogan in the description, I was like nahhhhhhh

Don't get Kogan'd guys, you have been warned!!!

  • how can they offer free phone service? What's the deal?

    • -1

They keep taking your money if you don't remember to inform them that you want to stop using their services

    • +3

It's called a free trial, then after a month trial you make up your mind whether you like the service or not and then you pay for it. During the free trial they pay Optus and Yatango basically shout you. It's a gamble on their behalf that not too many over do the calls or use all the data.

  • +2

    Great. But beware.
I signed up for a "free-for-a-month" sim when the first came out. They took my credit card details and some "bond" money. I never made a call or sent any message.
A month passed and I forgot to CANCEL the service. Money was withdrawn from my credit card as much as the "bond", as they classified my "usage" as same as what I "paid" for the "previous month"

    • +1

As a former Kogan user I got a code number to access the free trial, it's true they wanted my credit card details, but they didn't charge me a cent and why should they? It's a free trial and I get the choice as to whether I want to continue with them when the months up.

    • +1

ask them to refund, it happen to me and they refund my money

  • This sounds like a scary deal, especially considering they don't even have a call center number to call…

    • You pays your money and takes your chances, they're an online provider so no call centre I guess. You tailor the calls, texts and data and pay accordingly. I reckon that other providers using the Optus network like Vaya, live connected or Woolies are better value. but you can't beat a free trial.

A company with no contact number and recurring payments as a catch, no thanks !
As pointed out, its already a headache to get in contact with them. So why deal with such a company ?

  • Not really a bargain as only for 30days then you have to sign up with a different plan at whatever rate

  • +1

I am using the Yatango Optus trail now and because the download speed and drop out rate is very poor in my area, I am choosing to go elsewhere.

  • +4

can't sign up, once the credit card number is entered, it goes to:
    https://www.yatangomobile.com.au/

no confirmation, no email, can't login with my sign up details.
not a good experience that i could recommend.
tried 3 times, give up now, hopefully i dont receive 3 sims later. finger crossed.

    • +1

Same here, tried twice and same thing happened.
Btw $1 deducted from card each time, so $2 gone.

Live chat done with operator and he says I am an existing Yatango customer, hence this happened !!

Anyone signed up successfully, please post back

      • Same here. Entered details, chose new number and put in cc info. Then instead of a confirmation the same "sign-up' page appears. Thought I might have done something wrong, but apparently not since my credit card's been charged :S

    another vaya mobile scam

  • -6

also don't joined vaya mobile they are very poor customer service download speed very bad.

  • I am currently on yatango just waiting till 28th to port to aldi. I joined using kogan offer.
If you wanna enjoy 1 month free with dropped calls, poor coverage atleast in Preston, thornbury, Melbourne please go ahead otherwise My advice is to get telstra network based either boost or aldi…

    • Niksrulz may I suggest not waiting too late to port to Aldi as on Monday when I requested porting there web site said there is a big demand for porting now which could take 10 days. I think the demand will only increase by the end of the month don't you? They have a new "Acceptable use" policy since last Saturday too. May be better to stay connected than save a few dollars.

    Alright moderator. Remove the deal…

    • You have provided a valid deal IMO, free calling for 30 days, good network or not. It's the company no one wants to trust.

  • Doesn't seem to work - code disappeared after filling in the details… the total amount came up to be $35 and credit card details required

Exclusive Offer - Critical Information Summary

  • I would give it a plus since it is a freebie.

I use a different mobile service provider every month to take advantage of the best deals.

Porting usually only takes a few minutes if you do it on weekdays.
The trick is to hop between different networks, Telstra to Optus, Optus to Vodafone etc.
Porting between MVNOs on the same network may take longer.

The more honeymoon deals, the better.

  • +1

I took advantage of their free month in the past, I had no problems with them.

  • avoid it. After entering my credit card details it goes to home page with no email confirmation - I cant even login - its a scam.

    • Any email confirm yet gsrt22??

      The same happened over here

  • For what it's worth, signed up a couple of months ago and all good so far. Didn't port any numbers, so maybe that made life simple. At the end of the trial I changed to PAYG so if I don't use the sims, then I don't get charged. For example, have one in the iPad and basically never use it as normally will tether with my 'phone. Have another in the 'spare' phone that again we rarely use. But, if we do need 'em then they will work. The other I use for a 'dongle' that used to be Virgin (also Optus) - coverage seems to be no difference, which shouldn't be a surprise.

Basically seems decent enough. Only minor gotcha is that they say you can change your plan anytime to suit, which is true, but the change only applies the following month - so if you find you are suddenly using a lot of data one month you can't change it then and there. So I see this as great for 'spare' or rarely used devices. If you use a 'phone a lot, then probably better off with the likes of Boost (which I use for my main mobile).

  • They have fair go policy your calls get barred, any one reach 2500 minutes a month more then 100 sms a day and on 400 per day data and 1000 mms a day, these plans call unlimited all trying to ripe off customer.

  • Just to make people aware: My "trial" with Yatango has costed me $30.60 on 18/7 then $25.50 on 23/8. I never made any calls nor SMSes.

They promised to "refund" me. I just checked my transactions. NOTHING has been refunded by Yatango!!!

  • I havent received my sim after more than a month. I think they are just after names, birthdate, credit card numbers… they had no secure site. Just avoid them
