still cannot compare with this deal:

    • This card looks to have a much better cooling system in place… the one you refer to looks all boxed up, however this one breathes better… as such, will runner quieter and cooler.

  • Good card for the price. I have a HD 7790.

They start at $135 on staticice:

Compare benchmarks with other cards here:

  • The link takes me to MSY and showing as $160. How do I get for $115?

    • Weekend sale. Valid from 20/09 to 22/09

    • The deal link posted on facebook says it's a weekend sale and starts this Friday (20th), ends Sunday (22nd). Also says 'Pre-Order Now'? :/

      • pre order sounds good.. but how?

  • This capable of running all (if not most) pre '13 games w/ maxed out settings @1080p?

    • No, even some higher end cards still have trouble running some games at max settings with high AA.

      • +1

How 'bout with lower AA (2x or off)?
Nothing wrong with a bit of jaggies. :D

I'm a bit behind - just finished Bioshock 2 - so I'm not sure, but you can always just check the benchmarks:

      http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/858?vs=776

It's probably considered a "medium" performance card, but "medium" will still will max a lot of games these days. I did totally max Portal 2 settings with it, including max AA, but that's not considered a "heavy" game.

      • I currently have a 512MB HD6670 so looking to upgrade to something in this range as I can't really justify getting a card that is $200+ if its just for games (unless you do CAD or 3D). Cash better off going towards a CPU or SSD/HDD.

        • I went from a 1GB 6670 to a 1GB 7790. It was a big boost in performance, very happy.

I can't seem to help wanting more GPU though. There are always games that aren't optimised well (like Dark Souls, I actually turned off AA to stay above 30fps consistently) or that push any card to the max (Crysis series - had to lower AA in Crysis 1, even with everything else totally maxxed).

But I already have a nice SSD and an i3 CPU.

        • Thanks for the input!

I mostly play SC2, but also many RTS, FPS & Racers so I guess this is just the card for the job.

Also want to note that I want to also run some older games (mostly racers) with 2/3 mon eyefinity. HD6670 currently does a so so job.

Might actually get this now when they activate the price.

  • Cant believe this is normally 160 when its got less guts then a 6850, which was $200 3 years ago

    • +1

      It's still faster than a 6850

  • I need to buy a GPU tomorrow and I'm deciding between the following:

    Inno3D 1280M GTX570 $149
    OR
    Radeon 1GB 7790 MSI $115

Is it worth an extra $34 to get the GTX570?

My motherboard is Intel DP55WB and running an i5 650. Is there a bottleneck on the CPU? is the $34 better spent on saving for a new CPU?

Is it worth an extra $34 to get the GTX570?

      Definetely!

      GeForce GTX 570 PM4388, Rank 14
      Radeon HD 7790 PM3058, Rank 38

      http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/gpu_list.php

Is there a bottleneck on the CPU?

I think any CPU within the last 2yrs would still be sufficient enough to handle/keep up with these GPUs, but it would better if your CPU & Mobo supported PCI-E3.0 just to be sure.

Is the $34 better spent on saving for a new CPU?

Up to you, there are always tradeoffs when considering parts. Tech is improving at an unbelievable rate these days, 'new today old tomorrow'.

      Hope that helps.

edit: Can I ask where you found the GTX570 for $149? Looked on StaticIce & didn't find it.

      • I'm also now looking at the GTX 650Ti. What do you think of it?

        • Update:

I have tried my best to do a summary of my findings. Can anyone please help? I spent alot of time.

I'm not familiar of what is best for what, based on the specifications? for example, is one better for gaming, is another better for mutitasking, is one better for video editing, is one better for watching movies?

        • I'm also now looking at the GTX 650Ti. What do you think of it?

Its newer gen, but slower than GTX570 from 2gens ago. I'd go with the GTX570.

          GeForce GTX 570 PM4388, Rank 14
          Radeon HD 7790 PM3058, Rank 38
          GeForce GTX 650 Ti PM2692, Rank 45

No not really. Simply put, just go with the fastest one to ensure it runs anything/everything you throw at it (higher rank, faster card).
