  • The last $50 deal went down very well, process was very simple (although I think that one was $500 startup?) so this looks even better! When I signed up on the last deal I got the $50 very quickly.

  • yeh, anyone find any negatives with the deal, 5% straight away sounds good

can you close the account afterwards lol

  • I've signed up - great deal!

EDIT Uh, this was meant to be a reply to the guy asking if you could just close the account. I'm a little drunk. But yes - it appears that you can just close the account after you get your $100.

  • Do you need to keep the account at a minimum balance or can you withdraw it once it is opened?

    Thank

    • +1

      $0 minimum balance

      • Thanks =)

Its great offer…just signed up. Let c how it goes…..

  • did the last one, on the $50, but the minimum deposit was $1, so at the moment i have about $51.10, the extra 10 cents being the interest.

still a good deal on this one though, $2000 is a bit different to $1 initial deposit.

    • there is no minimum balance to maintain account, so if you open account with the $2000 and then withdraw shortly after.

      • +1

The best way is to actually deposit the $2000 and leave it in the account until you're paid the bonus $100, then close the account. I fell for the Members Equity one. I opened it but didn't leave the money in the account long enough to get the bonus =(

  • I think I'll use this account for the time being, since Bankwest's Telenet saver interest rates are much lower.

  • +2

They aren't going bankrupt after I put $2000 in, are they…

    • -1

lol, no, their parent bank is large and exists overseas as well. Plus, the Australian Government has guaranteed deposits, so there is no risk.

      • -1

        RaboBank is a HOLLAND-based Bank.

They could go bankrupt, just as any other Bank could go bankrupt:

        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rabobank

        • +1

ok, and even if they do collapse instantly before you are able to take out your cash, the Government has still guaranteed the deposit

  • +1

ok so, if everyone opens then closes the account/ with draw money then wouldn't our economy be more stuffed LOL!

  • -7

    Just remember:

YOU CANNOT WITHDRAW ANY MONEY OUT OF YOUR ACCOUNT UNTIL YOU GIVE THEM IDENTIFICATION DOCUMENTS THAT THEY AGREE WITH

So, your $2,000 Minimum Deposit could be sitting there forever and you may never get it back!

    BE CAREFUL!

    • +4

Alex - be careful - yes, but you probably havent gone thru the whole process of application..

They WILL NOT transfer the funds from your original account UNTIL you complete and sign the documents and send it to them.

ie they are satisfied you exist etc. So you should then be able to withdraw the money.

You have to sign up before April 15th then send completed documents by the end of May - When they receive the docs they will take the money from your linked account

So if you are considering this deal - you can apply within the timeframe, then back out by not sending in the docs. Also if you dont have the $2000 now you have time to get it before sending in the documents

To verify this …from their website application process STEP 3 ……..

Linked account details (page 2 of 3)

      Opening deposit

      Opening deposit amount: $ _____**_
The opening deposit must be a minimum of $1.00.

The opening deposit must be in whole dollars and will appear on your application form. The transfer will be processed once all signed documents have been received and checked by RaboPlus.

** But for the deal the minimum opening balance must be $2000

BTW for those using Safari on the Mac - I couldnt get past Step 2 - but Firefox works

      • Worked with Safari for me. OS 10.5.6, Safari 3.2.1

      • -2

They WILL NOT transfer the funds from your original account UNTIL you complete and sign the documents and send it to them.

Oh good; I didn't know that.

I am wrong & you are right.

At ubank.com.au, we let customers transfer money straight away so interest is earned as soon as possible (best method is to do via BPay right after application - takes a minute and is safe).

You just need to pass identification before withdrawing any money (by law). For majority of customers we can do this electronically (ie no hassle with paper!). For some, we do require paper ID process.

        Hope this adds.

        • why neg this deal?

    • Misformers, idiot's in disguise!

You obviously haven't done your research into rabobank!

    • +1

err.. that's just like with every bank?

no bank will open up an account for an anonymous person they know nothing about

please don't misinform people, if you are not comfortable with this deal for some false reason, then don't take advantage of it…

    • this is actually a good point - on the $50 offer they did earlier, on the forms they give you the option of sending in ID documents or not, and say you can choose not to send ID docs but run a risk of not passing some ID test (wish they mentioned it was a high risk or something in the first place). stupidly I chose to take a risk (too lazy to get ID certified) and now they've taken the $500 from my account but I can't access my raboplus account!!

      • See, I told you so.

Very important to verify ID FIRST, before putting any money in.

  • I opened the account with $50 bonus a while ago.
can i close my account now and reapply as a new customer?
So that i can get $150 in total?
    haha i am too greedy

    • I would love to do that too, however I somehow doubt we'd qualify for the $100 after being a previous customer of theirs…

      • It applies to new customers only. To be honest, no banks would be this stupid unless they don't know what they are doing. After all, banks make money from borrowing and lending OUR money so giving away free cash is one of the most attractive ways to cut you in.

    • That worked for me for the bankwest 12 months introductory rate. But not sure about these offers.

  • I just looked at the website and deposits under $1M are government guaranteed. This rate is much better than the 2.75% I'm getting now from NAB. The NAB may not pass on official rate cuts to borrowers but they are very quick to cut interest on savings. Add to this "error" fees that I have had to have reversed and I'd already decided to change banks. The $100 bonus is a nice incentive to act now.

    • If you're looking for a main street bank with good interest ANZ have an Online Saver account at 4% now.

      • CommSec is 4.25% at the moment (though will probably go down)- sweet deal with their $600 free brokerage offer at the moment. Also Government guaranteed and free Visa debit card.

        • Have you got a link for that one?

          • +1

@gabbyh: if you guys are just after high interest savings accounts, then check out onedirect - they are backed by ANZ and almost always offer the highest rate… their current rate is 4.5%

            • @applebyte: Thanks applebyte. I have an INGDirect account which is giving 3.5% for balances under $50,000, 4% for balances over $50,000. The OneDirect rate is excellent. Underwritten by ANZ helps sweeten the deal.

          • @gabbyh: Haha, what a guess - interest has been lowered to 4.00%
            Here is the link:
            http://www.commsec.info/money/exclusive-offer.aspx

  • thanks bro

  • So, is this one safe to apply? xD

  • i held out so long for something more than the $50 bonus, then last month wen stuff it and took the $50.
ah well ;) free $100, well $100 for getting all stupid id papers signed.

does anyone know how safe online banking is, ive been avoiding it due to concerns….for example, if you were being keylogged, would you be screwed?

    • can highly recommend Rabobank. I have been with them for about 2 years…i chase the different online accounts with the highest rate and so have quite a few accounts open :) My experience has been positive, they are safe to use, though it did take a little getting use to (with additional technology sent to you to create a unique log on code each time you transact). From my experience their log on process is the most secure of all the online account I have.

I am only sad that i will miss out on this great deal. I will be forwarding this email onto my friends. I wonder if you can sign up through moneybackco.com to sweeten the deal further :)

  • The convenience outweighs the risk. Either use a Mac or get a commercial security software package for your Windows. Most banks cover losses as they want us to use the internet banking.

  • use a firewall, (or if you're sitting behind a nat router you should be ok)
use a secure browser ie7,8, firefox, chrome
    have a good password,
+ internet banking with raboplus, hsbc, bendigo bank give you additional security with a secure token generator to protect you from keylogging
citibank+ingdirect use mouse input to also protect you
Internet banking is just as safe (if not safer than using atm's ;)

  • +1

Just to confirm that the last [CASHPR](http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/10126 "Raboplus are giving away $50 again") promotion was processed quickly without any problem, so I would expect the same for this one.

  • Also would like to add that they will send you a "DigiPass" for login. If you want to see how it looks like, just goto their main site:

    http://www.raboplus.com.au/

Then click "Login to your account" near the top left corner to launch the online banking login page (do not want to direct link to that page for obvious reason).

    This is how it works:

    1. they will send you the DigiPass (the device)
    2. then a PIN will come separately in a secured envelop (initial PIN)
    3. you use the PIN to activate the device
    4. the device will prompt you for a new PIN of your choice (new PIN)

When you are ready to login, enter the new PIN into the device to get a generated code. This code is supposed to only valid for a minute or 2 (if not seconds), so it's reasonably secure against keyloggers or the likes.

The only thing annoying is that you have to have the DigiPass to login, but then this account is not meant to be a transactional account, so it's not that big of an inconvenience.

  • When do they take the initial deposit out of the linked account? I don't currently have $2000 in the linked account, and it'll take a few days to transfer over…

  • Or you could take out a savings account with a higher rate in the first place (check http://www.ratecity.com.au/savings-accounts/)

Or you could take out a term deposit where the rate is guaranteed (such as 4.11% for 3 months with www.ubank.com.au :) )

    Good luck hunting!

    • Or you could just take the $100 and run with it?

      and y neg this deal?

  • Good deal $100 for opening an account, I signed up today!

Is it limited to one per household?

  • I'm guessing its one per customer I hope as I've gotten others in the house to sign up now, and remember this finishes today!

    • -1

yup guys, last chance to get FREE money!

  • Has anyone got their $100 for this deal yet? I've had the $2,000 taken from my bank account, but am still waiting for the stuff to come in the mail so i can log in…

    • Asking same as above…anyone please?

      • I have recieved my stuff in the mail. But you have to wait for an activation pin which comes a few days later.

Then you can access the account and see if you have got the $100 and if you wish, transfer the total to another bank.

        I will update you guys,

        Cheers

        • same

Thanks for finding the deal :)

          • @jigglycho: hey guys,

got access to my account, they haven't put the $100 in there as of yet, will update you guys when they do. judging from previous deals, they seem to do this fairly quickly, so shouldn't be too long now.

            Cheers

            • @applebyte: I called up and they said it will take 10 working days from the activated date for the $100 to come in

  • lol, got the $100 on my account today and my wife as well! They took deposit on 15/04 and paid $100 on 28/04. THANK YOU applebyte!

Judging from that, I should get mine soon too!

    Cheers :)
