  • Wait so is the charger that comes with this one of the 'smart' chargers?

    • +3

nope nothing like La crosse, these are dumb charger

        This is the Model number
        NC-MQN06

Not sure why got a neg, they are not "smart chargers"

        • Sanyo makes one smart charger. No fancy dials or readings but has proper overcharge protection like a smart charger. Not sure of its model number. Works well.

      • Anyone got any comments on the point of smart/dumb chargers?

So the charger that comes with this can potentially ruin your eneloops? I'd like to get this but I already have: a number of eneloops.. and some old other chargers (energizer, duracell, etc - I'm sure these are all dumb ones.. this was for rechargables I used to buy). So I hate having to 'watch' the charger, since sometimes I forget and leave it charging all night.

How bad are these really? Am I just better off waiting for a deal on one of these La crosse's, and then more battery deals with DSE or whatnot? (though I really want some spacers)

        • Well, it can't be too "bad". The standard charger is what I purchased along with my original, first-generation eneloops years ago - which are still working fine. It does need to charge them in pairs (put one in and charging won't work until you insert a second cell).

That being said, I did recently purchase a La Crosse charger. There's a lot of discussion in old threads - use the search box at the top of the page. Just search for "La Crosse". Make sure you buy the "right" one though. I bought the 700, which apparently has a power supply that burns out. :-( (Only used a few times, but it's working fine so far.)

  • What are the spacers?

    • you can use AA battery in these spacers and make them C or D batteries

      • see the manual here how it works
        http://us.sanyo.com/dynamic/product/Downloads/4_Position_Cha…

How to assemble C or D battery
        • Match the + and – terminal of a AA eneloop battery with the
        spacer’s + and – terminals.
        • Insert the + terminal of the AA eneloop battery into the – end of
        the spacer.
        • Push the AA battery until it “snaps” into place.
        • To remove, push on the + terminal of the AA eneloop battery
        until it releases.

The spacers are a God Send for those with kids (and toys).

Eneloops + Spacers = a LOT of saved money on C and D Cells.

Thanks OP. Have been waiting for a rechargeable deal. Ordered via your referral as well. ;)

  • "Q: What is the model of the charger included in this kit?
    A: Sanyo Charger #NC-MQN06. Owner's Manual here: http://us.sanyo.com/dynamic/product/Downloads/4_Position_Cha…

Something to keep in mind, the charger that comes along with this pack charges batteries in pairs. Both batteries need to be roughly the same discharge level or there will be balance issues. If you want the chargers with individual charging channels, then opt for the MQN05 charger.

  • Ordered via your referral - been waiting for these to drop in price as well :)
    Thanks!

Used to jump on these , but with all the dick smith $11 eneloop 8 pack AA battery specials, thats now the maximum I'm willing to pay …

$50 will get me 32 AA if they repeat that special again, meanwhile i should have enough till then

You can get Eneloop Spacer for $10 from ebay ( two C and two D spacers)

Plus the La Crosse charger off course

    • The standard DSE Eneloop 8 pack deal were either $19.99 or $21.49 for the newer models.

There was one $11 deal for the 8 pack but that was only SOME stores clearing out the last of their Glitters.

      However I take your point.

You can get 16 Eneloops for $43, spacers are cheap, the charger is bascially a freebie they throw in.

    • $11 special probably only a few packs in whole Australia, In NSW what I know is $20 cheapest ever, show us your proof if you manage to get that $11 special.

      • i managed to get one from their previous sale. Just hoping they will have more soon

        • Same here. The $12/8 eneloop AA's was a great deal. That was $1.50 a battery.

This is 16 batteries, a few plastic spacers and a charger for $48USD. Not that great.

  • Didnt need another set but ordered one anyway since i had a order i had to process

Also picked up the La Crosse Technology BC-700 for $29.19 to charge them with.

    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000RSOV50/ref=ox_ya_os_pro…

Oh don't forget a travel adapter for your charger, if this is your first set

    • Hi, I thought this super power pack included a charger?
How come you had to purchase another charger? Am I missing something?
      Thanks

      • the included charger is a dumb one.

the BC-700 is a smart one.

      • Pretty much what PissLUR has said

In my first pack, having to charge 2 at a time was a pain and balanced the ene's incorrectly with there charges.

I've got a BC-500 but moving to BC-700 for the aditional features and to keep the ene's in tip top shape

  • La Crosse Technology BC-700 Alpha Power Battery Charger for US$40.37 delivered.

    is it a good price?

    • +1

drops down to $30 to $33 delivered if your not in a rush

      • the delivery itself is already US$11.18.

        http://camelcamelcamel.com/La-Crosse-Technology-Battery-Char…
        Lowest * $22.99 Oct 07, 2010

Are you sure it drops to ~$30-33?
        US$ or AUD$?

        • +1

Price and delivery Fluctuates . You just have to set a camel alert to your email @ your desired price and then wait

Yes im sure, search the forums :)

EDIT: Due to the Aussie dollar dropping below parity, it might never reach that price for a while

  • What do I use for 9v rechargeables? They seem to have gone out of fashion and no smart charger will do them

  • Recommendations for a travel adapter? This is my first set of Eneloops and charger

  • … and out of stock

    • Back ordered for 3 days till more stock apparently.
But can still order to get the current price

      • Don't think so. I can't add it to my cart any more nor move it from my Save for Later list.

  • Sorry I must be missing something - the only seller on the link is Craigs_deals not Amazon (and for $74.49 too!)

Edit : Didnt use the referral link, although this price doesnt come up on a normal site search?

    • See comment above. It's out of stock now. Happened only just before I posted.

  • As far as spacers go to be able to use the AA as C and D cells, you can buy them on ebay quite cheap. They are just a plastic case that opens and that the AA sits in so it is lined up with the + - contacts on your device.

  • second time i missed this deal, guess its not for me then… :(

  • damn I missed it again…

    • Yeah, I am been waiting for a eneloop deal for ages and I missed out once again!!! :(

  • Now they starts to charge for shipping fee. Almost the same price if I buy from jb-hifi.
