Might use the Nexus 7 personally and the Memo Pad 7 in the car for music.

        Great deal!

        • so the sec one is much more better? its triple the price.

        • +1

It is much better. Better screen, lighter, a rear camera, faster, longer battery life.

Is it triple the price better? That's up to you.

  • Anyone knows if OW sells 16 model in store?
I cant find it in their website

    • They don't

  • +1

hmm.. anyone getting HarveyNorman LiveChat with ..
"Hello Ozbargainer - Need any advice, talk to a Harvey Norman expert now."

    • +1

It's generic based on which website you clicked from. For example they might say googler.

      • +25

        Mine said
"Hello Two Girls One Cupper - Need any advice, talk to a Harvey Norman expert now."

        Any idea what this means?

        • +10

Probably a gentle reminder to delete your history.

        • "Hello Lemon Partier - ah, I mean boss."

  • Got an email from OO this morning. They are seeking refurbished n7 32gb 3g versions for $229. Is that worth it?

  • Nexus 7 2013 (2nd gen) is $299
    https://play.google.com/store/devices/details?id=nexus_7_16g…

Not sure how 2nd Gen compares to 1st gen and whether its worth the extra $150.

1080p screen, double the ram (2gb now), much better processor, rear camera, slightly thinner, slimport and a few other improvements: http://www.v3.co.uk/v3-uk/review/2294030/nexus-7-2013-vs-nex…

If you're just after a basic tablet, the 2012 is unbeatable for the price

      • Thanks.

  • The e-mail from oo.com.au says 16GB for $149, plus an extra $15 off…

    http://www.oo.com.au/newsletters/

    • $15 off??
      How does one access that?

    • -1

      It's a refurbished model.

    • Thanks, that's a refurbished one.
Couldn't see anything about $15 off.

  • My toopid Sony Tablet S is buggy as hell and I want to upgrade.. in a perfect world where I had a lot of money at my disposal, I'd get the Note 8. But since I don't, do I bite the bullet and get this, or just save up and either get the newer Nexus, or potentially the Note 8?

    • if u know how to flash custom rom this one is better, there are numerous developer for google devices.

    • First step I'd be doing is flashing a different ROM.
No need to upgrade if you think the hardware is fine.

called martin place HVN, was advised that there is zero stock in sydney CBD area

    • you never check the stock on hd's website? anyway, i wont deal with the people in hn martin place again.
btw, when i checked the stock this morning, Broadway had plenty.

    • Thanks mate.

  • do people still want it? for their kids?

    • +1

No, as a second and third devices when the battery runs out on my flight to Europe.

      • Haven't you heard of those backup batteries ?

        • Amazing bought three just because of battery runs out?

  • Have been informed by Harvey Norman online that most stores do not have stock (around NSW anyway) and are awaiting stock - despite the fact that their website clearly shows those same stores as having stock. Very misleading to me. Maitland, Albury and Erina are few that have stock.

    • Does this deserve a neg vote?
You can get this with delivery and it is still the cheapest price around.

      • +4

If a company indicates that an item is in stock - in their stores - it should be! A lot of people want to save on postage too. VERY MISLEADING HARVEY NORMAN!! Needless to say, a swag of associates will probably neg this comment into oblivion, but I won't go away until this matter is resolved Harvey!

        • +17

You sound like a fun, easy-going person.

        • stock status may be delayed up to 30 minutes

What if they had stock but sold out this morning since this is such a cheap price and havent got a chance to update it.

Unless you live next to a harvey norman you probably save more on petrol/transport with the delivery option.

        • You sound incredibly gullible. Why not make a meaningful comment than waste time? My comment is designed as a caution to others.

        • Well the delay in stock updates could be a factor, but totally unacceptable when you've got potentially hundreds of additional orders being put through (and paid for) that ultimately won't be fulfilled. There are laws that make advertising goods available, when in fact they are not, completely illegal.

        • Want to neg, but you may make further comments that are more neg worthy later… Mods can we get a lift on the 5 neg daily limit?

You do realise that all of this is over a $5.95 delivery fee.

        • +2

It's the law - a company should not advertise an item as being in stock when clearly it isn't. Plain and simple.

  • I'm able to pick one up at Hobart here, really tempted. Haven't had a table before, would the price go any much lower ? Also, it doesn't have OTG USB or microSD does it ?

Can I add .pdf files and read them natively or do I have to convert them ?

    • Don't bother trusting their website for stock allocations - I've been told by Harvey Norman that very few stores (at least in NSW) have stock. Call your local store and verify before getting excited.

    • +3

It kind of has USB OTG by using this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.homeysoft.…

      No microSD though

      You can read .pdf natively

  • What about delivered?

  • I just order one and call DM Auburn store and the staff check the stock and reply I can pickup now

  • +2

When you sign up to HN then you get a $5 off code! Just used mine from last time month. The email said it had expired but it still worked. Sign up for $5 off? it might still be a promotion. So for me shipping was $0.95

  • +1

Similar story here. Store showed stock, I ordered & then received an email telling me they're out of stock…

    • +1

That's the point I've been trying to make.. Most Harvey Norman stores do not have stock, but they their web site is misleading. However, they will use their 'online stock levels may be delayed by 30mins' disclaimer to avoid illegal behaviour. This company will sit on their customers money for at least a few days, earn interest on it, then provide a refund. Anything for a profit..

      • +1

Company's just don't work that way and I don't understand why people think they do.

Let's play pretend for a minute, there have been 886 clicks at the time of me posting this… Let's wrongly assume that everyone of those clicks = a sale (when I wouldn't be shocked if it was less than a quarter) hell lets call it 1,000.

1,000 units sold at $148 (they aren't making anything on postage). That's $148,000 less any stock they are going to sell.

That $148,000 earning (higher than available for company's) 5% interest. That's a mighty earning of $20.27 per day, that's before they pay tax.

Do you honestly think that a company like Harvey Norman that spends so much on marketing would risk alienating customers for $20 a day at the highest?

        • +17

But let's take that one step further - What if Gerry takes that $148000 and places it on black on the roulette table, wins, puts it all on black again, wins again, etc.

By my maths, all he has to do is win 8 times in a row, reinvesting the winnings each time, and he makes 37.9 Million dollars. Then refund the original $148000, hand out a few more $5 vouchers, and we buy this time after time.

IT HAS TO STOP PEOPLE - OPEN YOUR EYES

  • Does the $5 discount code welcome or something still works for online order and pick up in store?

    • my $5 code worked for delivery

      • Do you have a code that we can use???

        • sorry i dont, i used mine and tried it again and it said invalid. Just sign up and youll get one.

  • Just gone through my junk mails noted O.O also has the same model for $149.99 + $9.99 delivery, 32 gb $199 & 32gb 3G $229 + delivery if anyone is interested.

    • Are these news or refurb?

  • +3

the 2013 version 32GB is $318 at Harvey Norman atm http://www.harveynorman.com.au/asus-nexus-7-32gb-wi-fi.html

    • Thanks for the heads-up. Just price-matched OW for $302

  • out of stock everywhere except castle hill lol

the reason why the website says it is in stock because their systems are down at the moment!

    • "out of stock everywhere except castle hill lol"

at least we know where broden doesn't live

  • +1

Thank god it is out of stock. I really don't want/need to buy it but the dark powers of Gerry Harvey compels me.

  • EB has the 32gb for $208 + roughly $7 shipping. Hmm is it worth an extra $60 for an extra 16gb?

  • Need some advice - $135 for a display unit (last one) or $179 with a 3 year replace warranty ?

    • +1

If you saw those kids playing with the display unit I would not buy it.

  • +2

Wow, tablet is getting cheap and cheaper, still waiting for the 10" tablet to go down.

  • Hmm, I can get this or the 8" Acer A1-810 from JB for around $130 (after 20% discount and cashback)

I don't need either. Which one should I get?

By the way, it's in stock at Sale, Bairnsdale, Moe, Traralgon & Morwell.

    • +3

Skip it if you don't need them.

    • +1

The a1 is crap compared to this.. its not that responsive… go this one!

    • I am also interested in Acer as it has a HDMI port.

      • That's one reason why I was considering it. The rest is crap though, and the screen is pretty bad. Like the size though.

superforever and ezza are right though. I don't think either are worthy as an "I-want-something-new-because-I'm-bored-with-what-I've-got" device (that's a thing, right guys?) The novelty will wear off way quicker, since they're not amazing performers.

  • Just offering my experience with these - I find the screen too small to do anything productive on. It's a good price but mine started collecting dust after a few charges.

    • you selling on ebay?

  • none at nunawading. picked up the last one at ringwood
