Similar to the deal posted last week (http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117237) but a bit cheaper. *Edit. it looks like the Amazon deal has gone up to 365.72 AUD

'earphone solutions' is an official reseller/authorized dealer of Westone product, so you're guaranteed 2years warranty

These are one of the best balanced armature IEM with quad drivers.

I've purchased myself a pair a few months ago when i was in Japan @ $420 & absolutely love them.

  • Good price. But personally id buy from amazon for extra $5 for their customer service since we all know its better than others most of the time

    • The Amazon deal has gone up, its total price is now 365.72AUD

      • Amazon is still $319.95 + just under $10 shipping

  • This is an awesome pair of IEMs. I bought a pair over Christmas when they were on sale and they're the best pair I've owned so far.

Just make sure you find the right comply tips. The standard ones that sipped with this pair were fine (lasted me about 6-7 months). I've now got he silicon ones in my ear and the isolation (expectedly) is not on par with the comply tips.

  • I have these. They are awesome. I would say the price drop is due to the announcement of the Westone W40.

    No mic and remote?

I'm looking at getting a good quality IEM's with a mic and remote for my Galaxy S4, but not that many options out there. Plenty for iPhone though.
One must is that the remote position has to be in the middle where cable for each ear piece splits, basically same as Klipsch S4i.
A good thing to have, but not a must have, would be that the remote can control the volume as well, not just answer/hang up and next/previous functions.
And yes i know S4A is an option and I'm looking into that, but would like some more options.

    • Ive asked that question also, when i was researching for good IEM.

When you actually wanna get high sound quality IEM, you'll typically (not always) have to sacrifice the mic/volume control on them.

SQ > functionally for me :)

Ive rooted my Android, and have the volume changer by holding the volup or voldown (while screen is off) to change tracks to compensate

      • Yeah up to recently the sound control via the remote was a must have for me, but given the limited range of such IEM's for Android, I'm reluctantly starting to think that i could live without that, hence why I'm starting to look at everything but the position of the mic/remote is a must. Really don't like when the remote is hanging on the cable of the ear piece, usually left.

        • Ever though of making your own if you're that desperate for a remote? Snip snip the cheap stock ones and add a female adaptor to the end instead. might make the cord way too long though.

        • Unfortunately the 4Rs ship with a rugged cable - snipping it might help the DIY part but if you stuff it up, getting a second replacement cable similar to the one shipped with cost a bit.

    • Just looked up the product page:
      Westone Technology

      and here's what I found:

      Heading 2 [EPIC MICS Cable]

For the active user or mobile professional, Westone's MICS (Microphone In Control System) gives simple, one-button control for music playback plus answer/end call, voice control, and communication on most smartphones.

So there is an opportunity to order them with a MIC, I just can't see it listed as an accessory or as an option. Try getting in touch with the vendor and see what they have to say.

      Cheers,
      rusty

  • oh no……

i almost decided to place an order on amazon just now, now here is w40 coming for rrp$499.

btw, amazon's price is not changed.

    • W40 looks like its just a 'refresh' shell (internals are the same), and change of cable connector. It looks like the Shure type..could be wrong thou.

      • yeah, its too early to comment. i guess no one has ever tried them out. will do some googling today.

      • Agreed, does look a lot like the Shure type connectors.

      • People on head-fi have def suggested its just a re-shell of the 4R with change of cable connectors (i hate the shure connectors)

there might be an option with vol up/down + mic attached to the cable

  • Has anyone tried these with a portable amp/dac? Would there be any benefit?

  • Does anyone know/remember the fee international FedEx shipping code that was published in the duplicate entry for this deal (which has subsequently been removed from Ozbargain)?

  • I agree, free shipping codes should not be removed, duplicate or not.

The coupon code is FXTL for free international shipping as per here:

    http://www.earphonesolutions.com/coupons.html

It seems to work, when you enter it, but I don't know whether it gets honoured. Keep us posted. Thx.
