    • it's DSE, this is the actual sale

    • Is it, or have they brought it down to price match DSE?

    • +1

Isn't it always $79 at OW?

Umm no. You must be new here.

Check Googles cache of that link, 18th Sept = $97

    • +1

I'm giving this deal a + because without it, I wouldn't have got the same deal at OW (who are much better to deal with than the jokers at DSE).

      • +1

Not at my local store they're not. They come a close second to the local HN, whose service one can't complain about, because there IS none.

    • OW lower prices to match sales to avoid having to give out 5%.

  • What kind of HDD is inside these?

    • Seagate 3.5"

      • Seagate Barracuda?

    • +2

You're only guaranteed a 2TB drive, not a specific speed - as Seagate said in their forum:
      http://forums.seagate.com/t5/Other-External-products/Seagate…

We don't have the drive's RPM information available since it could be a 5400 or 7200RPM drive, depending on what hard drives were available at the time of assembly.

  • 7200rmp :)

    • +1

      Its rpm not rmp. Cheers

    • +1

It may or may not be a 7200RPM drive depending on what HDDs were available at the time of assembly.

      • I heard Seagate don't make 3.5" 5400rpm drives anymore as it is not cost effective to maintain two assembly lines :)

  • I think under $40/TB is a good deal. I already have 2x 2TB and 2x3TB sitting in front of me………

Lol that's a lot of porn/artistic expression of human intimacy…

You need to get out more and do less dreaming :-P

How do you know he didn't just download every steam sale game he's ever bought? He's an OzBargainer, after all…

  • seems cheap to me $79-00 usb3.0 - 2TB AND delivered — count me in

    • +12

you should hit the green + at the top left there, then. :)

      • +1

For no other reason than pure interest, how did you find out me2 hadn't clicked on the green +?

        • +4

No Green + next to his comment.

        • +1

Also, at the top of the deal, there's two tabs. View and votes. Click votes and it gives a list of all plus and minus voters, including those that didn't comment.

        • I thought minus voters had to comment and give a reason for said negative vote to justify hurting someones feelings and discouraging deals.

        • +1

They do. But pluses can be comment free.

  • Can this be opened and used as an internal drive?

    • I'm thinking of doing the same thing. I know its possible with the WD My Book. I've done it myself. Pretty sure this shouldn't be any different.

    • +2

Yes, I have bought a number of these guys and used them as very cheap hi-speed internal drives. Very easy to open. Just gently pry/pull open top lid/part at the long end outwards (preferably the one without the connector) to release the clips to access the internal drive. Just don't forget this WILL void the warranty :)

  • shown as "Free Delivery on this item" but charges 9.95 ?

    • Same problem with my order.

    • If you proceed through the checkout it will remove the delivery charge

  • +1

Bought one of these today. Drive is fine but anyone else getting an annoying buzzing noise from the AC adapter? I swapped it with the AC adapter from my old verbatim hdd because they seem to have the same output.

  • Seagate's website and downloadable data sheet do not state the drive's speed. Can anyone confirm the 7200rpm please?

    • +2

bought 3 and they are all the 7200RPM ST2000DM001 model

Some interesting story on how I tried to pricematch with OW today:
Walked into my local officework today after work and picked up one of the 4TB seagate expansion and attempted to pricematch with DSE. After a bit of clicky clicky on his computer, the staff confirmed with me that they can pricematch it. I then asked him to keep it in cashier and went on with some window browsing, and back at the cashier 15 mins later decided to check out.

This is when things gets weird. The lady at checkout told me they already matched with DSE and cant honor the 5% they already agreed with 15 mins ago! The price must have changed in the 15 mins while I was molesting the new nexus 7. While I was there, i open their website and the price was still 219, and they advised me to pricematch online. Then at on of their demo computer, while I was checking out, BOOM. Price changes to 169.

It probably only cost me about ~ 10 bucks more, but Im quite unhappy with how their staff not honoring on a price agreed upon in 15 mins course. Already put in a complaint form witout much expectation. =S

Damn bought the crappy 2tb wd usb2.0 from msy deal few days back. Had I waited…

  • +2

thought long and hard as i still have 600gb free on current drive…decided against it…but good work op….you almost made me buy it - this is really dangerous site for my wallet…

  • Thanks… :)

  • +1

I happen to have found myself with less than 50gb on every one of my HDDs. I've been kicking my arse ever since I wasn't able to get any HDD deals from Australia Post a few weeks back. And while I've recovered almost 300Gb just from deleting stuff, it's still a bit of a chore.

This deal came at a perfect time for me.

  • +1

CAN YOU NOT SAY PLEASE BE GENTLE WITH ME? I ASSURE YOU THAT NO ONE WILL HARM YOU IF THE DEAL IS NOT GOOD.

    SICK OF READING THAT.

    Good deal, nevertheless. +1

I ASSURE YOU THAT NO ONE WILL HARM YOU IF THE DEAL IS NOT GOOD.

Lol… you must be new here.

          I've been here long enough.

  • any way to open these enclosures without voiding warranty?

    • +4

Only by waiting until warranty has expired.

      • That is pretty crap. I need a new 2TB drive for my server as one just died, it's either pay $100 or $79 and no warranty.

        • Open with a plastic card and if you have a failure just put it back together. You do not damage it if done carefully and only takes about 5 minutes to pull apart. Youtube for instructions!

    • +1

any way to open these enclosures without voiding warranty?

These cases are really easy to open without breaking. I can't remember anything in place that would tip them off to it being removed, other than finger prints.

I chucked 2 of these into my home server. If I had my money again I'd just buy a WD 3TB green though.

  • thx, went to bought one from Chatswood chase DSE this afternoon

  • Good deal and great for price matching at OW

  • +1

Thanks, this site is so bad for my bank account!

  • DSE site shows $109 now offer expired.
Checked OW webpage (above link) still $79 put in cart shows $79
went to checkout price alters to $108!.

Dont get caught with price hike if you bundle with other items and dont notice!
(this probably explains bewater comment "inst its always $79 @ OW" may reply would be yes even when it not.)t
