  • Its everyday price for other online shop, not best price
    http://www.myshopping.com.au/PR--460851_LG_60PH6700_60_Plasm…

    • Shipping kills most of those online prices, except for flingshot which has free shipping AND are running "$100 off $1000" promotion bringing this TV down to $1181. not bad

  • +1

Plasmas of this size have huge energy usage. Was looking at a 64' Samsung at JB the other day and it's energy rating was over 1000. Could have just been that specific TV but pretty poor when most LED around the same size use between 200-400. I don't know how this would factor into real world costs though.

    • Plasmas of this size have huge energy usage.

Yes. We know. It's been discussed previously - in every single deal for a plasma TV ever posted.

      • modern plasmas are a lot better on power than even a few years ago. generally they are close but still slightly more than the equivalent led/lcd. it pays to check the specs

after a quick google it seems that its power use isnt stated anywhere…. which i find a little scary. id probably keep well clear of this tv.

        • Review with power estimates at bottom (albeit: USA based )
          http://m.cnet.com/reviews/lg-60ph6700/35560968

"Power consumption: LG60PH6700 is pretty power-hungry, and it does OK. In a year of using this screen you would expect to pay around US$60 in electricity."

        • yea i saw that but $60 a year says nothing about how many hours a week that is expected to be on so i thought it was fairly useless really. on page 2 of that review tho had

          Standby (watts) 298.37

which is even more scary…….. surely its really ~300w when its turned on not on standby? either way, thats a fair chunk of power when my 55" led only uses ~100w from memory

        • The energy rating sticker at JB has this TV rated at 694kWh/year.
Comparatively the LG 60" LED LCD had 346.
On my 30c/kWh tariff (QLD) that equates to $100 difference per year.
Given the $700 difference in price tag, if you had the TV for 7 years or more, it is better to get the LED.

  • Also Plasmas is a lot less stable than LED/LCD TV, which means easier to break down.

  • -1

It could easily go wrong - falls over and hits you?

  • I'd be all over this deal if I had somewhere to put it.

Not moving for a few years so I hope they are still making plasmas in the future, there seems to be less and less of them.
