Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C 15" i7 128GB SSD Ultrabook $949.50 @ DJs

470

Went to DJs looking for discounted Macbook Air, couldn't find any. Noticed the Samsung and Sony Laptops are 50% off. Saw the Samsung Series 9 NP900X4C 50% off at Chatswood for $950. It was the last one so asked for further discount. Received 15% further but decided against it.

Went home did some research and had some good reviews. Long story short went to DJ at Burwood and got one with an additional 20% off so ended up paying only $760.

Posted this deal with only the usual 50% off price. Thought I'd post in case anyone else interested in one.

Apparently the IT sections in DJs being taken over by DSE so they are clearing out lots of stock.

  • Sounds like a good deal that you ended up with mate

    • thanks, wanted to try a mac but the deal was too good to pass up. Only downside is the small SSD, apparently its easy to upgrade but don't want to spend any more $$$.

Sweet deal, and those are some super pretty ultrabooks! I'd probably get one if I didn't normally use my tablet these days :P

  • Can you upload your receipt? thanks!

Pretty good. Can't imagine they sold many at $1900 though!

ex demo, caked with bacteria of a hundred users, no charger laptop vs a new one…hmmm not quite a comparison

15 inches is pretty big for an Ultrabook. And at that size I'd be wanting full HD. Defs good value at that price though.

    • 15in is big for a conventional laptop, but what you gotta realise with the samsung 9 series is because the frame of the screen is quite close the the actual screen, the dimensions on the 15" is actually comparable to many traditional 14" laptops.

I bought the 15" for my wife and she loves it. best to go into store and test it out for yourself. you'll know what i mean when you see it.

    It's the 2012 9 series, terrible screen.
The new one is the Ativ Book 9 Plus (http://www.samsung.com/au/consumer/pc-peripherals/notebook-p…).

    $760 good price.

    • I like it actually, I think its on par if not better res then the Macbook Air

      • Probably, but the Mac Air screens don't set the bar very high. Anyway, for those wanting battery life, definitely go for a Haswell chip!

    • +1

I have to say that the screen is NOT terrible, it is pretty good and better than most ultra books last year. It's not hd and touchscreen, but it's anti glare and bright, excellent for outdoors and resolution is good, it's higher than the air

Got mine last year for $1300, it's a good laptop overall, light and thin. Good deal

      Upgraded my ssd though

  • These are awesome machines. I got the series 5 and a friend the 9 and I'm still jealous. One thing tho, Samsung formats the drive with system and recovery partitions and these take up over 50GB. I got the 256 SSD but found less than 200GB free even after I removed various junk.

  • Hi, Sony 32GB Tablet S Series 9" WiFi is listed as 249.50 aud. May I know is it worth it? I am looking for a tablet or chromebook for a long time. Thank you very much

the laptop is good, but anyone else can find any stock???

    • If you found anything in Vic could u pls let me know as well? Thanks

  • I've had a Samsung NP900X4C for about a year now. Samsung do yet another thing better than Apple ;-)

128gb HDD is actually pretty good - i've got office 2013, photoshop, illustrator, dreamweaver, plus a few other large apps. plenty of space left, just keep an external hdd for movies etc and it's fine

I received the same model, 256GB SSD at JB for $1,025.

    • thats a very good price. i got that same model for $1600 a few months back. no regrets at all so far. only issue is the wifi is sometimes problematic whereby it loses internet each time you resume from sleep.

Apparently this is a common issue with the intel wifi card. having installed an older version of the drivers fixed it though

      • I have the same issue on my series 5, can be very annoying. Emailed samsung but they didn't give me a proper response. Great laptop though

        • +1

let me see what version driver i have installed. i'll report back and maybe it will help you fix your issues.

        • +2

I was very lucky I walked in there with a $1,000 budget for an ultrabook and got the i7 Series 9, 256gn ssd for $1,025. If anyone wants the receipt let me know.

        • Yes please if you can post the receipt thankyou!!

        • Hey Moots can you post up the receipt that would be great!

  • Anyone knows if is there one avail in any Vic store (JB, DJ etc.), would be keen to get one. Thanks heaps!

    • +1

None at city DJ. Jb city only had the 256g model at 1900+

      • Thanks! That's crazy price… Doubt anyone would buy at that price

  • Has anybody had luck finding this in Sydney today? Parramatta, Chatswood and CBD are all out (there is one Sony Vaio S i5 left in Parramatta as of noon today). Anybody had luck price matching at Myers, JB or Officeworks?

  • 760 is an awesome price for an ultrabook. Did you buy that as brand new or display model Annon123?

    • It was the last one but was in the display case, not out and about. Apparently it was never charged up as the adapter was still in the box. So I was told.
