Hello OzBargainers,

Mike here from MEElectronics. Last month you guys gave me a very warm reception on a promotion for some of our mid-range earphones, for which I am very thankful! You also posted many requests for a deal on our higher-end models. After a few additional private messages and emails from you guys expressing interest, this is what I was able to work out. It matches our lowest-ever pricing on the A161P and beats it on the other two models:

Coupon code is "OzBargainHiFi". There is a limit of 2 units per order and the coupon will expire next Tuesday, 10/08/13, at midnight PST.

International postage is $8.95, same as before, and does not change with number of units. Delivery times vary but are typically between 10 and 20 business days for the cheapest shipping method.

As before, I will gladly answer any questions as best I can. As many of you guys already know, our customer service experience is second to none and we try to deliver the very best value for your money when it comes to headphones and earphones. Our products have consistently received excellent feedback from customers and reviewers alike. These resources are often referenced when earphones are discussed and might be helpful:

The same thing in sortable, searchable format
We also have a page on our website where we collect external reviews, organized by model.

If anyone has any suggestions on how I can improve this experience (other than offering a better bargain, of course), please be sure to let me know!

I can also be contacted at [email protected] or directly at mike(at)s2einc.com .

Thanks!

  • Glad now I didn't jump on the XBA-4 deal from yesterday.

  • I'm gonna ask a silly question here.
I used to own a pair of diddy beats, the white flat cable one. They died on me.
So on a recent trip to the US I picked up a pair of dr beats the gaga ones, they aren't the best though.
I'm basically after something that is in ear, no wrap around has good bass and is noise cancelling.
Are any of these that fit? Basically I would be using them for watching stuff of an iPad on the train.
    Thanks ;@)

    • Perhaps someone else who has tried the Diddybeats or Gagabeats can comment on exactly how they compare to our products.

To me it sounds like the M-Duo would be the best fit - it has enhanced bass and can be worn cable-down. It also has passive noise isolation (acts like an earplug) and comes with a variety of tips.

      • Couldn't decide between the 151 and the 161 so I went with the 161.

Thanks for your response. I look forward to receiving them shortly! :@)

  • Does it support iPhone? or…Nokia Lumia 920?

I use mobile phone as music player too, so could I answer phone via this earphone?

    thank you.

    • All of these models have an inline mic and remote. They definitely work with iPhone and should work with the Lumia 920 (they work with the US version so assuming there are no regional differences should work with the Australian one as well).

You can find a list of what you can do with the remote on an iPhone as well as more info on compatibility here: http://www.meelec.com/Articles.asp?ID=155

  • Hate to add to the barrage of questions here, but does the inline mic and remote work with the galaxy s II? I bought two pairs of headphones with inline remotes and unless I had the button depressed they sounded rubbish. I had to basically tape the button down. Once I did that, they worked a charm, but I don't want to repeat that experience. Still the best headphones I've ever had (the red dual speaker ones). Bought some Denon ones that were well reviewed recently off Amazon and they just don't compare. I hope they're compatible, if so, I'm in!

    • Which headsets did you buy that didn't work?

The Galaxy SII, at least the US version, was the first Samsung phone to natively support standard (iPhone-type) headsets.

What you're describing is a compatibility issue that occurs when you plug an iPhone-type headset into an incompatible Samsung phone such as the original Samsung Galaxy. It would also occur if you did the opposite (plugged a headset designed for the original Samsung Galaxy into the Galaxy SII or iPhone).

  • Perfect answer. Yeah, I had my original issues with a Galaxy S. I don't remember the headsets, I just gave them to my wife in the end and bought these COMPLETELY INCOMPARABLE Denon buds. I'll be putting an order in now.

    Thanks Rep!

  • Thanks Mike! Just grabbed myself a pair of A161P!

Hi, can someone please help with selecting set of headphones? I am no expert in this department, and can't differentiate a cheap $10 set from a $50 set, by only looking at specs and buying online.

Can OP or others please do a simple breakdown of what to look for? or what each would sound like?

I mainly listen to trance music (often with vocals) and electronic music. What would sound best for that?

    Thanks! :D

    • +3

If you don't know exactly what you're looking for, the M-Duo is most likely the best choice, especially for electronic music. Generally speaking:

      • M-Duo: enhanced bass with great depth and punch, clear midrange, and slightly enhanced treble (what they call a v-shaped sound signature because the frequency response looks like a shallow "V". It's a "fun" and energetic sound that's good for electronic music but not as accurate as the A-series models.
      • A161P: Our most neutral and balanced earphone with a flat and accurate response. Extended and linear bass with little to no enhancement. Recommended for audiophiles and music professionals. Bass will sound like it's "lacking" for Beats by Dre users and others accustomed to bass-heavy sound.
      • A151P: flat with a slight boost in the mid-bass region for a warmer sound. Not as much bass extension or resolution as A161P. Recommended for discerning listeners who just want better clarity than your average <$100 earphone or headphone. As with the A161P, the bass will sound like it's "lacking" for Beats users and others used to bass-heavy sound.

Check out some of the reviews on Head-Fi.org - the guys and gals there know what they're talking about and there's a few impressions of all of our models floating around.

      • Hey Mike, thanks for your help.

I am likely to get the M-duo after that comparison. Is that the best headphone you would recommend in this sale only, or in general for your product line (considering only ear buds)?

Bit of an usual question…not sure if you will be able to provide insight based off this, but worth a shot. I have listened to 1) B&W P5 , 2) Beats by Dre, 3) Bose QC15. Out of the three, I enjoyed the sound of 1 only. 2/3 were complete letdowns for my purposes. If you have been exposed to any of them, and know their 'sound signatures' as you described above, would that change the recommendation.

I tried reading the head-fi link in your earlier post, but it's still very technical for me to understand/compare. Sorry mate.

        Thanks in advance.

        • +1

The M-Duo is our best in-ear for an enhanced-bass sound.

I have heard all three. The P5, which you enjoyed, I would classify as warm and smooth - it does have good bass but also a little less treble and more midrange presence than the M-Duo. As a MEElectronics rep it wouldn't be appropriate for me to comment on how the sound compares in terms of quality.

I should also mention that there's a no-questions-asked return period for 2 weeks from when you receive the earphones, so all you're really risking is shipping costs.

        • +4

Hey hahaboy, re your question I own both the B&W P5 and Bose QC15, I like the P5 best too, but Bose QC15 shines when I travel and block out all noises, and make the trip much better experience.

Recently I bought the A161P (before this sale), I must say the A161P has a VERY neutral sound, e.g. no artificial stronger bass. It has good bass and very flat mid sound, it has details and clarity! I highly recommend it and can safely say that it is close to if not equal to B&W P5 experience.

For the price of A161P right now I think I will get another pair for sure. Hope it help.

        • Thanks for your help guys! Just purchased a set. Look forward to trying them out! :)

  • Some nice reviews. Even better buy at the discounted price. Mine are already shipping. Look forward to hearing them.

  • Question rep: Your post says $55- off with coupon for the A161P, however the order shows $45.00 discount, bringing it to $54.99 prior to shipping. Typo?

    • Whoops, that one is a math mistake. Surprised no one noticed earlier. The price after coupon is as stated - $54.99 on the A161P.

  • Hi Rep, any deals for the bluetooth headsets?

    • Can't do one simultaneously but as several people have asked I will run one some time in the next two weeks.

  • +1

A deal on the bluetooth Af62 would be appreciated. I see there has been recent sales of this one around the $100.00

    • Noted, thank you!

  • nice, just put in an order, hope it arrives within the 10-20 days as I leave OS on the 21st day..

    • Received email approximately 6 hours after order to inform me of it being shipped.

    • My last order took just over a week to arrive so your chances are good I'd say.

  • Thanks Mike. Ordered the NoiseSHIELD NS63.

  • No suggestions on improving the experience - got 4 sets on the last deal and couldn't be happier. +1 for this deal for being a legend merchant.

  • How long does FeDex Priority Shipping take?

    • If you shoot me an email with the address I can give a better estimate but it's typically 5-10 days depending on destination.

      • It arrived an hour ago - and I ordered on Friday!! Thanks! The A161P are great hheadphones! :)

        • Quick :)

  • Hi Mike,
I've been having problems with my headphones as some do not work on my devices. The 3 ringed 3.5mm jacks don't work on my Chinese tablet and PC/TV speakers. I believe this is because they are audio only devices. How do I know if any of your products will work on my devices as your tech specs don't specify the type of 3.5mm connection? Im keen on the NS63 and M-Duo. thanks

    • The 3.5mm connector on the M-Duo is a 4-pole one (audio left, audio right, mic, and ground). It will not work with devices that only support stereo audio (3-pole) connectors without the appropriate adapter. This one: http://www.meelec.com/MEElectronics_Skype_Adapter_for_PC_p/a… separates the audio and microphone leads. You would use only the green end for a device that doesn't support mic input. The A161P already comes with this adapter, as well as another one for additional smartphone compatibility.

The NS63 is much more straightforward - it actually comes with two cables - one with a mic for smartphones, etc., and another that is audio-only. You would simply use the audio-only cable with your speakers and tablet.

  • Hi Mike,

I wanted to get the 161P and added it to cart and totally forgot to check it out…

Any chance I can still get a set at that price?

    Cheers,
    Jason

    • Sure, just send me an email or a private message (I can't initiate private messages on this site) and we'll make it work.

  • Hi All,

Per so many of your requests, a deal on our Sports earphones has been posted here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119186

Wireless will hopefully be next week for everyone who was interested in that.

  • received my M-Duo's yewwwwwwwwwwww

  • Received an email from Meelectronics. Prices now even cheaper than this special offer.

    • Yeah. A161P is now $54.99 with free postage? ): Not too happy about this.

      • +3

Free postage only applies to US addresses - due to the disparity in shipping costs we can't offer free international postage. The A151P price is higher compared to this ozbargain deal and the M-Duo is not offered at all.

If anyone wants their A161P order discounted by $2.95 to make up for the postage please email me with an order number and we'll process a partial refund.

  • Anyone received their order yet? Mine was shipped on 4 October, haven't seen it yet. Still marked as in transit when I track it though.

    • same still waiting for mine!

    • I've got my order. Ordered 7/10, delivered 14/10.

    • Got mine on the 14th as well

  • Hi All,

For those who asked for a deal on our Bluetooth wireless headphones, I just posted one here: http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/119911
