Looks pretty cool :P with the colors.

But not too sure how good is V-Moda compare to others. Anyone has used it before?

Ordered me a pair! Been needing to get a pair of headphones for a while. These should do the job nicely.

  • review said they break easily after 2 months, hows the warranty work for this earphone? send back to catchoftheday?

    • Rule of thumb - you always return faulty goods to whoevers name is at the top of your receipt, because that's who you have the legal contract with, not a second-party supplier or manufacturer.

Don't let retailers tell you otherwise.

  • also be careful, they (CNET) mention the headphones may not work on mp3 players as it has three coils - an additional for the microphone.

  • +3

Vibe Duo is a really suss name to call a set of earphones.
It sounds like it should be…well…you know.

  • I just rang the supplier, he's never heard of anyone having issues using them with an mp3/pmp type device with a standard 3.5mm headphone output. CNET review also mentions that it has no iPhone call controls, but it actually does. So that's CNET. In terms of reviews I prefer the ones written by real people on their personal blogs, rare but more informative. There are plenty done by the big publications though.

Regarding warranty, its fully supported by the manufacturer. Details on warranty card inside, we are also available to assist in any way.

I think the "DUO" name is to differentiate from the Vibe and Vibe II. I highly doubt its to trick anyone :)

    • Legally, COTD is solely responsible for any warranty returns. COTD purchasers have no contract with the supplier or manufacturer.

I was just looking at reviews for these headphones as i was wanting some for my Iphone 3G. The overall of the 12 reviews states that they suck for build quality and are just hopeless for the price you pay. These are overpriced for what they are and are not worth the money. 12 reviews and it has 1.5 stars out of 5…

    • Wow! mostly ppl give -ve for the stupidest reasons! very good research!

      • Well i would like to do a bit of research before i spend 50 bucks of my money lol. And yes u are right most people give stupid reasons. Mr Asstight for one :S

  • Just ordered a pair. They seem like a good deal so hopefully these will do better justice than my Sony ones.

      Agreed!

What the…..??? Agreed with the previous + post but given a - in the reply.

For almost every product out there you are going to find negative reviews, if you look at COTD's page, its got 10+ positive things from unique sources.

Needed new headphones after breaking my stock iPod ones.. great deal!

These seem to be the previous model, as the plug doesn't have the titled plug connection

Unless the pictures are not correct.

    • +1

I think the picture displayed shows the Vibe and not the Vibe Duo.

      • +1

vibe does not include a microphone. so the picture is of a vibe duo. I did some research and vmoda redesigned the input due to some design flaws in it.

  • +1

The price is worth the risk.
If they don't suit you just sell them for the same price once the CotD deal is over.

  • +1

Guys, for the price they are actually quite good. I considered getting these a while back but ended up spending more and getting a set of Ultimate Ears for about $180. Back then the v-mode were twice the price on COTD and that was when imported from the USA when the $AUD was much better. They aren't the absolute best but they aren't bad either. And at that price its great.

  • +1

This is the part on COTD that confuses me - "45-degree flexible design"
I am actually interested in getting a pair, but if they are the old generation then no. Refer to: http://gizmodo.com/5048667/new-v+moda-vibe-and-vibe-duo-jack…

COTD can you clarify this for us?

    • Yea QQQ can you please clarify… wanted the new one :P … have seen too many reviews with broken and replacements. Please, thank you QQQ!!!

    • even if these are the old ones (and by the looks of things, they started shipping new ones last year), if they break they're covered under warranty and you'll end up with the new ones.

needless to say, i picked up a set. my etymotic er6i's died the other week.

  • Don't let the RRP fool you. These are just cheap, but nice-looking earphones with iPhone control.
The blurb on COTD has lots of cool-sounding techno-babble, but avoids any real technical description.
(e.g. kind of magnet, bass response)
These would be OK for phone calls, or listening to music on the train. Just don't expect it so sound
any better than a stock Apple in-ear headset.
(But I hope much better than the crap earphones I got from DX :-)

And NEVER wear then when driving/riding/walking near traffic - they block the ear.

    • +2

Freddy.. you need to actually read COTD, under specs, it has ALL this info.

The bass response is a lot better than norm (humans can't hear below 20Hz, but they go from 12Hz)
The magnets are neodym (the best you can get)
Also has weight, cable length/construct, plug construct, etc.

      • d'oh!! I missed the link. Just saw the "important" stuff like gold-plating on the main page, and was reminded of Monster cable.
… is it really possible to get 12Hz out of earbuds?
But they don't actually say -3dB, so is it not really lying if its -90dB @ 12Hz?? :-)

Of course I can't hear below 40Hz anyway, unless it coming out of a big woofer and
        rattling my bones.

        • Based on everything I've read about headphones, the technical stats don't really help one in discerning the quality of sound at all.

  • Well you should be right selling these for anywhere between $66-102 on ebay if ya dont like em…

    • +3

At least in details why it sucks… just like when i say you sux.. the must be a reason WHY ..

    • +4

Can someone please ban this guy!
He votes neg for nearly every bargain without reason.

  • +1

    To COTD:

    UNRELATED TO THIS BARGAIN
I bought a usb tv tuner from you and received it two days ago, very happy with the product. First time buying from you, but more then confident to buy from you again.

p.s. the EyeTV software that comes with it works a breeze.

    Thanks

These are a GREAT price for this item. It's not for me because I don't have a iphone and already have a high end pair of IEM's but more audio gear Catchofthedays would be great

  • Question: Can the mic be used with the iPod Touch as a voice recorder?

  • Close to sold out, only chrome/silver left.

    • QQQ, the COTD description on the website is that it has a "45-degree flexible design allows an optimal range of motion while maintaining a sleek, sturdy metallic core fused to a 24-carat gold-plated plug".

Is this correct? Is the headphone jack like in http://www.v-moda.com/collection/modaphones/vibe%20duo.aspx

If so, I'll be grabbing this now.

      • I can't physically check right now but I think its safest to assume the jack is exactly as depicted in the images which were supplied by the manufacturer, and that is a straight type.

Although the specs/description also came from the manufacturer, the images are much easier to interpret :P

  • +3

If you look at mr_asstight's last 111 comments they are all silly comments and wasting people's time. Ban him.

  • Seriously you can't vote a negative because the product is crap, its all about the bargain, if places sell for much more expensive and this ones cheap then its a bargain and deserves the positive feedback. Its not a product review site.

My 2 cents, I have had a pair of Vmoda Vibes 2 years ago up until the Left earpiece died on me, the earphone lasted 5 months. In terms of sound quality, they probably as good as your standard in ear SennHeisers ~50 dollar ones. For the price = worth factor I would say what this site is quoting is the real appropriate price these earphones are worth. But saying all other shops and I got mine for over $100 bucks close to 200 on average (I paid $160 for mine). If your really into your balanced sound I would avoid this, and spend an extra and get some Shure or etymotics (however is spelt) or at least a close to top of the line Sennheiser, which I have now and happy with so far.

But good find on such a bargain for these.

    • Of course you can vote down if a product is crap, as long as you give good reasoning for it which adds to the discussion and helps contribute to other user's decision to buy or not.

You can also vote negative if the seller is known to have poor service or is dodgy (IMHO).

  • Sold out :-(

    • there are some left…

Overpriced headphones. Buy $10 Chinese ones and get the same quality.

  • -1

Received them today… Great phones! They are the newest edition with the cloth-covered cable and 45 degree jack. Thanks COTD!

  • Got them as well and really swell. Now I'm addicted to audio again and will be getting a set of Ipod dock
