iPad Mini 16GB $305 at GOOD GUYS (Save $53) or Maybe $290 at Officeworks with 5% Price Beat

840

This deal is even better than my previous post http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118740 and if you're quick, you'll definitely get it for $290, as OW have it online for $308 (to match BIG W). Good luck!

  • Will people neg the pricematch at officework in the title again?

    • +1

If they do, so be it. As far as I'm concerned, it's the cheapest way to buy this, so people should be made aware of it.

    • +15

"Will people neg the pricematch at officework in the title again?"

I won't neg it but I don't like it. The Officeworks "offer" is well known so anyone can try to take advantage of it if they so choose. Officeworks is not advertising the best deal in this case, it is TGG.

I still hate how Wesfarmers (ie Bunnings/Coles Fuel/Officeworks, etc) are making these offers to kill off (or at least heavily reduce) the competition. This sort of offer helps them do this and then when the competition reduces, we all pay because these guys can charge higher margins to everyone.

Checkout how "competitive" the fuel industry is now that Coles and Woolworths Cartels have a strangehold.

      • +2

        Strangehold hrmm…

Is that a stronghold full of freaks?

        • +2

holy shit batman, someone stole my 'l' in strangehold! Can't fix that because you replied to my message.

btw, I didn't neg you, it would be one of the officeworks fanboys.

You say that but I recently learned that the two nearest OW stores next to me closed down (Dandenong and Clayton).

They never have stock for their price guarantee anyway. I tried to get a Nexus 7 over the weekend to get them to price match Bing Lee, and I went to 4 different stores (this was when I found out the two nearest to me closed down) and none of them had stock.

They don't have enough supply to cannibalize their competitors when those competitors run promotions.

I can't see them bringing down JB or HN for example. I think they're safe.

As long as OW is quick to price match so they don't beat people by 5%, there's no inherent reason to go to OW over the original promoter (well unless they're closer). The price is the same.

  • I am so on the edge for a Mini, I know the probable Retina is just around the corner but at such prices its hard to resist… Man 300 is pretty awesome even if its not Retina. Does anyone think the new one will be more expensive than 370?

    • +8

i think you'll be so glad to spend a few extra bucks to get a retina display for the long run. Your eyes will thank you.

    • Based on what Apple have done with prices for the iPhone 5S and new iMacs, circa $100 increase, my guess is that it will be more than $370 for the 16GB wi-fi model (plus all the other models)….

    • +2

Give your retina a retina, no regret for sure.

    • Does anyone think the new one will be more expensive than 370?

Most definitely. And the current mini will go on clearance. This won't be your last chance to buy it for $300.

I wanted the Nexus deal, but I'm going to wait now and see what this Retina brings. If it's the same resolution as an ipad3/4 while not being more expensive than the current mini, I'm in.

New iPads coming out Oct 22nd. Not worth the saving.

        • -2

Why neg the guy asking why neg wtf?

        • +1

It's OzB. Gotta make sure you use up your daily 5 negs. Don't let them go to waste.

        • -1

I've said it before, and I'll… leave this one here

    • Thanks for letting us know this info and the date so we can make an informed decision on whether to buy the current offer. I got caught many years ago buying a cheap apple ipod mini, only to have the newer product hit the shelves a month or so later. I wasn't (and still aren't) in the know about the release dates. Since then I've realised the new product can hit the shelves at about the same price as the discounted old version resulting in disappointment if you thought you'd bought a bargain. Thanks again.

  • OW also have $50 off the full sized ipad 4th gen for $448 http://www.officeworks.com.au/retail/products/Technology/Com…

  • OW have no stock (either in the stores that sell it or if you order online) and it needs to be backordered with a 2-3 week delivery timeframe. The new iPad mini is due out 22 Oct so might be better to wait for that…

    • I think OW does have stock now. I have just picked up mine today which is previously on BO. (The one match DS's deal for $397)

no need being too fussy about retina on mini1, it requires high lvl gpu to run smoothly on games. plus high power consuming. led back light isnt good for eyes anyway. but ill definite w8 for ipad5 with new cpu and gpu.

Go easy on him. He was using a T9 keypad on his old Nokia phone.

        • OMG, ozbargain over WAP/GPRS?

        • He was on the Orange CDMA network.

    • I know it's a challenge to push all those pixels around in the smaller shell with graphics and battery considerations, but boy iOS 7 is really crying out for a retina display. It looks great on my iPhone, but not so great on the iPad mini where the weights of some letters in a word are just all over the place.

      • +1

Try turning bold fonts on. Makes a little difference.

    • btr w8 4 d iPad 8 m8.

  • Wow i was in TGG alexandria this afternoon and their price was still $358. Had a $20 store credit to spend. Would had been nice with this.

    • They have a 30 day best price guarantee.

      • The thing is, i didn't use the $20 to buy an iPad mini @ $358. I used it to buy a $20 itunes gift card which i am now regretting

  • Best price so far is buy at bigw for $308 as posted here http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/118740

Use AMEX card with $50 cash back, plus TRS $30. Total about $228.

    • too late, no more click & collect

    • +5

      "…plus TRS $30."

so what's the total cost including international airfare?

      • +2

If you can afford to fly overseas why quibble over $30.

        • +9

If you are not quibbling over $30 why would you be on ozbargain.

        • +2

          @highdealer Definitely; I'm a frequent user/abuser of the TRS myself. :P

It'd probably be silly to book an international flight just to take advantage of the TRS (unless you scored a super cheap airfare to NZ or Asia), but for those already with travel plans the TRS is a nice bonus.

      • For those people who live close to Principality of Hutt River, maybe you can just walk over and claim TRS without expensive airfare????
        http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Principality_of_Hutt_River

        • "For those people who live close to Principality of Hutt River, …."
That won't work. It's part of the mainland and "The principality claims to be an independent sovereign state having achieved legal status on 21 April 1972, although it remains unrecognised by Australia or other nations."

There's no TRS desk around there and no boarding pass to show the imaginary TRS people anyway.

Interesting post though, I'd never heard of this place before :)

    • +2

Anyone who wants to claim the TRS on this AND price match this at Officeworks should remember that the invoice needs to be over $300. So buy something else for $10+ at the same time (and bring that other item with you to the airport), or buy at TGG or Big W or Officeworks' non-matched price instead.

The AMEX cash back has expired.

      • No it hasn't - expires on October 22 (if you registered)

  • still available i just purchased one

  • did anyone else also receive a $20 discount voucher from the Good Guys? I just one it will expire on 14th so if i use this I'll save a further $20 bucks off! fantastic!

    • yeah i got one too as mention above, but i wasted it on a itune card.
I think you get a $20 gift card if you bought some thing only with thegoodguys and registered and confirm your email address

  • $150 when the CatchoftheDay event happens :P

    • server crashes galore

    • +2

Yep, the 8 people who get one will certainly be happy with the bargain they receive

  • yeah cotd $150 but you cannot get on the site when the sale is on on the 22nd.

    nexus 7 $200

  • -1

For another $92 for a bigger screen and retina, the $397 iPad deal still wins

I would rather a new nexus 7 for $295 binglee deal rather than mini

    • +1

I am sure a lot of people prefer the mini size to a 10 inch ipad.
The mini is a lot more portable, the screen size is just right for all you need.

  • Unless you really want one right now, you should wait for iPad Mini 2. Don't forget it will have a faster CPU than iPad Mini, as well as a better screen.

iPad Mini 2 - A6X CPU, Retina Display
    iPad 5 - A7X CPU

    • don't forget its gonna be a higher price as well

    • I agree, rumoured release date is Oct 22, by the time they release the new one, you can buy this maybe $100 less than the current price from apple which is $369, other retailers might even offer a lower price than $269, only 11 days to go, i think it's better to wait. -

      Just my 2 cents.

      • Apple store ipod touch 16gb RRP $249 and ipad mini 16gb only RRP $269? Unlikely they are going to hurt their ipod touch sales with their ipad mini. Likely Apple will keep it as a budget ipad mini at $300 like the ipad 2. The new ipad mini 2 maybe at $400 sits just in between the full size ipad 5 and ipad mini.

      • +2

just like how you can buy a bugget iphone 5 for $300-$400?

        do you ever learn?

  • +1

Office works have sold out and not getting any more stock!!

Well so the guy told me at 6.00pm AEST

    • This could mean Apple will stop selling iPad Mini (1). From marketing point of view, that makes sense.

      • Having iPad Mini priced under Nexus 7 2013 would give people the feeling that iPad Mini (1) is on the same level as Android tablets.
      • Simply not enough profit margin for Apple at heavily discounted price.
  • -3

Officeworks never price match anything that is online based.

    • says by who? lol

    • I matched several time with logitech shop.

  • +1

Actually, they do. I've done it several time in the past. If delivery is mandatory for the item you want to buy - OW match to the delivered price.
BTW - OW price matched this specific deal for me. Ordered at lunchtime today over the phone for $289.75 and it will be delivered to my local store for pickup on Monday.

(oops - sorry, this was meant to be a 'reply' to OWKnowitall1)

    • Any chance for a +ve vote then quakka?

      • Sure. Done now. Sometimes I forget by the time I get to the bottom of the comments for popular posts.

        • Awesome! Thanks…

    • And what do you know, OW have now matched their price to TGG! It was only a matter of time…

      • Ye, but we all had a full 6 hours and 20 minutes to get our orders in with OW for the price beat. No-one can complain really…

  • OW QV in Melbourne cdb already dropped their price to $305 so they won't match TheGoodGuys price.

  • I wonder if I should get the Ipad mini from big w and use my american express to get a $50 cash back.

    • If you can, you should. $50 is a bigger saving than an OW 5% price beat.

Unless you can also claim the $50 from a different transaction and get both savings.

  • kids and parents xmas present sorted thanks :)

  • Has anyone tried in WA if this stacks with the bonus $50 store credit with any purchase more than $300?

    • Can't see why it wouldn't?
