It's a good deal, but I didn't think price matching could be posted as a deal like this. So $308 in bigw this week, hopefully for those after one office works doesn't drop their prices before hand.

    • +2

Awesome deal. Thanks. I also appreciate the heads up re price matching. I appreciate that rules are usually about for good reason, but chipping someone for mentioning price matching on a bargain hunting website? That's just counter productive.

      • -3

        (

  • +6

you should know the rules by now

  • +2

Just change your title to the big w one and tell ppls to pricematch it in the description

    • OW will not price match, they either will have no stock due to their sales earlier, or they will drop the price by Thursday.

      • Not really: they will -claim- to have no stock online, to avoid having to beat by 5%. But on the latter point, I agree. Best to hit the stores early to avoid any dramas.

        • +1

They responded to the DSE sale within hours, Big W have given them four days notice. They will have changed the price by Thursday.

        • Especially since they claim to check prices twice a day.

        • +9

Nah, they just follow Ozbargains and have alerts set up.

      • OW don't sell ipads in store

        • Yes, they do, at least in some stores. They have a display stand at the QV store.

  • +1

Combining with Amex deal this will be awesome!

    • What's the Amex deal?

    • +2

You say it'll be awesome yet you neg the deal?

    • I wonder if they ship the ipads if you buy online.

      • no, and only click+collect in certain states - not vic :(

  • +5

Damn sorry. I will remove neg. I was walking when I attempted to up vote.

  • Any love on the cellular mini?

  • +11

Don't bother. Don't buy old stock.
The iPad Mini 2 will be announced in 10 days.

    • Agreed. Ipad Mini 2 is around the corner and might just be $50 or $60 more than this deal.

      • They better have the retina screen…I want the premium experience but I'm not paying 60 dollars more for some kruddy finger scanner.

        • They better have the retina screen…

          • retina screen
          • 8 megapixel camera
          • faster processor
          • comes in gold…

but I'm not paying 60 dollars more for some kruddy finger scanner.

It also works with your nose and 'other' body parts…

        • Those specs are rumours, we will have to wait for their announcement in mid-October to be 100% sure.

        • +1

You need to understand, the rumours are essentially unconfirmed specs.
          Not wild guesses from nowhere.
The specs noted above will be 99% CORRECT.
          Don't be too cynical Bob.

      • +1

Like how apple was going to release a bugget phone and it might be 300-400 dollars?

    • Well said. Should wait for version 2 and pay 100+ more to get better spec than version 1????

      • +1

Going by USD exchange rate, and recent iPhone price increases, I would say new one will be $100 more than this.

  • +4

Chuck one on layby to lock in the price, assess the new mini's (should they come), then either collect or cancel.

  • +1

or $292.60 at Officeworks after Pricematch

    I doubt that very much.

OW will drop to the same price on Thursday…

  • I dont need one but a plus from me anyway for an awesome deal.

  • I thought OW's price beat is 5% not 10%?

    • thanks - sorry my bad :(

  • If I know my Big Ws, chances are there won't be any stock anywhere. You'll have better chances at OW ironically, who seem to be the goto place for fulfilling other people's bargains.

  • it's a great deal

but i will probably hold back on the mini,

word has it, the new version with retina display will be released later this month

if you don't care, then go crazy

but if you do. then i suggest you wait.

  • didn't dick smith just had it on a weekend special at 299? And when the new version 2 comes out this month, the version one will be worthless and prices will start to fall even more as retailers want to get rid of old stock.

    • +3

Not worthless as Apple products hold their value reasonably well.

      • Correctio, should be really well for consumer electronics.

  • Am I missing something here? How are these worth DOUBLE that of first gen Nexus 7?

    • +4

You see, they have a picture of an apple on the back…..

    • Just is :)

My own preference is the Galaxy Tab 3 8" for various reasons. But I can see this a great price and I'd be tempted otherwise.

      • So did the GT3 appeal to you when it was $249? http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/117912

        • You can also get a 32GB Nexus 7 current model at BingLee/OW for $299, which is a much better tablet than iPad Mini.

    • +12

can everybody stop goddamn comparing everything?
obviously if you are not here for an iOS device then find your bargains elsewhere.
for people who want/need an ipad mini this is a good deal.

      • -6

Well it is a tablet, why not compare? If you wan't an iOS tablet then you're going to get either the ipad or ipad mini. If you wan't a tablet in general, then you compare tablets to see which is the best value.

        • Oh I guess that's true. I had assumed people knew which os they preferred. my bad

      • +3

Can everybody also stop arguing small thing like pricematch at officeworks in the title?
Can you please have a reasonable level of tolerance?

Apple is more expensive for a reason. The best reason is fast repair service when the device fails.

Do you know where you have to go when your LG device fails and how long you need to wait for the repair?

    • First gen nexus 7 wasn't built too well. It was a cheap tablet with good internals. The new one is a big step up in every way, which is a good reason why the old one is so cheap now.

    • iPad Mini is more like a 7.9 (8) inch tablet. It is also lighter than the first gen Nexus 7.

The interesting thing is that you will feel the difference more easily when see iPad Mini 2's retina display (compared to iPad Mini), whereas I found it hard to really see the high res difference between Nexus 7 2013 and Nexus 7 2012 (other than when you watch a 1080p movie, BUT it is not something you do very often - because a 1080p movie is big in size).

iPad Mini 2 will come with a CPU that's 2X faster at least. However, I am not a fan of iOS 7. The new features are nice, but iOS 7 feels sluggish compared to iOS 6. The extra CPU speed will help.

      • The interesting thing is that you will feel the difference more easily when see iPad Mini 2's retina display (compared to iPad Mini), whereas I found it hard to really see the high res difference between Nexus 7 2013 and Nexus 7 2012

That's because the ipad mini has an abysmal resolution. You can still easily see the difference between the 1st and 2nd gen Nexus 7.

  • Online still shows 358$?! Wanted to save this 50$ then my AMEX 50$ cash back with TRS but price online is 358

    • +6

did you miss the 'starting Thursday' bit?

      • true..lol

  • So for those who have one, why would you not use your 28 degrees card with price protection to go get one now and skip the rush for the few that will be available on Thursday ?

    • I have thought about this and I was like wait, didn't I need Amex card to get extra $50 back.

  • You can be certain that Officeworks will drop their price to match this come Thursday so you won't get a better price through them. BUT by purchasing beforehand from Good Guys and utilising their 30 days price guarantee, you will end up paying $298, ie 120% of the $50 price difference = $60 refund.

They will only MATCH a price if the price match is negotiated before the sale, not beat it.

But if you do get lucky and can sneak in before OW changes price, The OW price match is better in this situation than TGG.

      TGG = 356 - 1.2(356 - 308) = $298.40

      OW = 308 x 0.95 = $292.60

      • wouldnt you miss out the 120% price back if big w are sold out of them early?

        • You only have to provide printed evidence of the better price. Given that it's an advertised special, that will go for a week, whether they run out of stock at BigW is irrelevant.

  • Just did a Google search and a report says that ipad mini 2 is delayed till next year hmm.

    http://www.popherald.com/news/20131006/28484/ipad-mini-2-rel…

    • -2

ipad mini 2 is delayed till next year hmm.

That is the 'new' ipad mini 2, the ipad mini 2 will be on sale by the end of this month…

  • +1

Thanks for the heads up…I've got an iPad mini already and it's amazing…but a price like this makes me think it might make sense to get a backup.

  • Too bad they dont sell the one with 4g as well

  • Can I click and collect from bigw to using Amex deal?

  • Pretty sure I registered ok for the Amex deal. Is there a way to check and make sure its still a valid deal?

    • +1

you should get an email from amexnetwork to confirm

  • What a bargain!! if only they have ipad mini 32gb on sale too though!

  • Apple charges $110 for an extra 16GB (16—>32).

And to go from 32—>64 is another $110 over that.

And people say Sony overcharges for Vita memory cards…

  • Hmm when I try to checkout it says item is not available for delivery.

Looks like they might of run out even before item goes on sale.

    • +1

In store only. Some suburbs allow you to click and collect.

      • Ahh yep you are right… So those who have the Amex deals its only good if you can pick it up from a NSW store.

        • Yep. I'm on the same boat to spend $$$ wws or bigw online. But click& collect not work for my area either

  • Order one with Amex card online this morning. Only click & collect available. Thanks

    • yes. click and collect was ok at 7am when i placed the order but now is unavailable.

  • Anyone else getting "This product is not available for click and collect" Sydney here.

    • yup - no click and collect in Syd. Bummer

  • +2

Just noticed that Officeworks have matched the pricing of Big W on there website, online orders only

    • HATE OFFICEWORKS from now on.

  • +1

Good Guys have these listed for $305

  • Got one. Thanks OP!

  • For those who plans to do TRS and ordered via Click and Collect like me, do you think a printed copy of the emailed Tax Invoice is good enough? The Australian Customs and Border Protection Service web site mentions an original tax invoice being required. So … is a emailed invoice valid please?
