great price - they'll definitely sell quick on Tuesday!

    • +4

Don't forget most OW open at 7am.

      • +5

I will set up a tent and sleep outside my local Officeworks on Monday night to be the first in Australia to get one! it worked for Apple fanboys :P

        • I'll join you ;-)

          Pretty good deal…

        • +4

I'd laugh if they're out of stock lol :P

        • You won't be first in Australia, because daylight savings has started. Stores in southern states will open an hour before your Brisbane store will open.

If you really want to be first in Australia, you could try your luck at the Lismore store. That appears to be the closest store to you that is in a daylight-savings state.

  • Can I buy it online and pick up?

  • any good?

Before anyone says "but they made it all up…", caveat emptor … buyer beware.
No, i've never owned one of these and don't know anyone who has one.

    • I've got the DECT 3015 which I think is the model that this one superseded. I use it as a phone for a VOIP service hooked up to a billion modem, and previously I used it as a regular landline. The phone has been fine, performs as expected. For $10 I would have jumped at this one. I think I paid $50 odd a couple of years ago.

  • nice price!

  • +10

cheaper than replacing batteries in them

  • Hey guys, just wondering if this cordless phone has an answering machine built-in? Cheers! Thanks for sharing this OP…wow soo cheap!

    • no answering machine

      • oh ok no worries!

    • No it doesn't but if you are with Telstra, there is a free answering machine service. Just dial 101.

  • +2

Call them up and place it on hold, it can be held for 24hours

  • +1

should i buy this phone or buy a battery pack for my older Uniden ($26)
    http://www.dicksmith.com.au/batteries/uniden-bt446-bt750-cor…

  • -7

It's a terrible phone and it's quite evident. It might be $10 but consider that even a good corded phone goes for $50 on special.

I suggest greysonline for this type of purchase that's where I got mine. I believe it was $40 for a base and spare handset. I guarantee it is far better than this.

    • It's selling for $10 but considering JB and HN are selling it close to $50 does it make it a bad phone based on your price comparisons? I have only ever used cheap uniden cordless phones at home and they have all been fine.

      • -4

It's a BS price as it's priced to help up sell the +1 version.

Someone look at the choice report for me and tell us what it says: http://www.choice.com.au/reviews-and-tests/electronics/phone…

2nd best with a 79% rating, only one above that was at 81%

          Good points:
          • Works during a blackout.
          • Excellent unobstructed range result.
          • Very good internal walls penetration range result.
          • Excellent external walls penetration range result.
          Bad points:
          • Proprietary battery packs more expensive to replace than standard rechargeable batteries.
          • No answering machine.

        • You serious? That's not bad considering it had gone up against a $229 phone. Thanks for posting those details.

        • +2

You can just buy battery packs cheap on ebay, perhaps cheaper than buying rechargeable cells from your local supermarket. I replaced my phone battery for about $3.

    • I bought my last phones from grey's and they are terrible - doro brand, terrible user interface, they take several seconds to stop ringing when someone picks up the corded phone, and one of the handsets has already failed miserably.

    • We had the superseded model and the handset died within warranty. Then we found out about Uniden's customer service….. We were sent 3 replacements over a period of 4 months, each one a handset that didn't fit the dock. After emailing them a third time saying that they had sent the incorrect handset, they simply ceased responding to our emails. We signed up for a new VOIP modem not long after (making the Uniden surplus to our needs) and had to laugh it off.

Is it Australian stock?….. Mobile phone deals hangover!:-)

  • +3
    • Haha. Spot on. Given the refund is going to be $40.8, The phone will only cost $3. 2.It's a shame in Queensland all stores are closed tomorrow.. I will try online.

      • Hmm. If we pay with ING Paywave it'll be $1!

        • Do they have pay wave now?

        • Don't they? I just assumed they did. Damn.

    • Awesome. So the best way would be to buy it from TGG at full price, then show them the Officeworks ad?

      • This is taken from TGG website “30 Day Price Guarantee” does not apply to… "…clearance, and finance offers." TGG might say it's a clearance item???

    • they might try to squirm out of it:

"Our “30 Day Price Guarantee” does not apply to Boxing Day ‘Knockout’ prices, advertising errors or misprints, bonus offers, limited or minimum quantity offers, clearance, and finance offers. "

  • We and family had approximately half a dozen Uniden phones over the period of 2 to 3 years, and they never lasted. Batteries on every one of them died within a matter of months.

    • +2

lol really? I have had one for 2 years and its still running fine, cheap $30 one to. Ur family must use the phone a shit load then

      • +1 for the unexpected slag off of Geewhiz's family!

  • NOT eligible for price match at Good Guys

"Our “30 Day Price Guarantee” does not apply to ….. limited … quantity offers"

    • Nah I think they meant catch odd the day sort of deal, like 50 ps3 for $199.

  • +4

Ok in the future if there is a choice between OW beat by 5% and TGG refund difference of 120%

Assuming the OW and TGG price is the same. Let 'x' be the OW/TGG price. Let 'y' be the cheaper price elsewhere.

TGG price subtract 120% of the difference > 5% off cheaper price

    x - 1.2(x-y) = 0.95y

    x - 1.2x + 1.2y = 0.95y

    0.25y = 0.2x

    1.25y = x

Therefore when the TGG price is greater than the cheaper price by more than 25% you should use the TGG price match

Eg. TGG/OW sell an item for $100, you see it for $80 elsewhere

    OW = 80 x 0.95 = $76

    TGG = 100 - 1.2 x (100-80) = $76

    • Thank goodness someone remembers their maths (or is still learning it at school/uni) ;-)

    • Someone has too much time on their hands. Get back to your maths homework! ;)

    • +1 because you're never gonna get laid apart from some OzBargain groupie

  • TGG involves a second trip to the store to claim the difference back.

Price of fuel and time/hassle for the return trip might change the equation for some people

    • You can do it online.

  • +1

it says this phone is "wi-fi network friendly" what does that exactly mean?

    • +1

a lot of old cordless handsets interfere with people's home wi-fi signals

    • +1

Many cordless phones transmit on the 2.4GHz band, which is the same band used by most WiFi. So the phone can interfere with the Wifi.

DECT phones transmit in the 1.8GHz band, which is not used by WiFi, so there will be no interference. However, this is only true of DECT phones, there are a lot of similar-sounding standards (like WDECT) which DO transmit in the 2.4GHz WiFi band.

  • Called up my local officeworks and was able to put 2 on hold for tomorrow's sale. Sweet!
Apparently they had a pallet full to get rid off.

  • $10 pretty damn good deal… too bad i recently bought this one http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/116196

I installed that doorbell thingy in my bathroom for emergency purpose :D

    • I bought 2 packs of those - all 4 handsets now linked with door bell.

Starting to think I may have too many phones.

    • I installed that doorbell thingy in my bathroom for emergency purpose

What sort of emergencies are you expecting in your bathroom, especially by having the door bell there you are only going to be able to make an internal call.

  • id go in today if you can.. the sale already started. called to hold some but i was told to come in as its first cone first serve. still a few left at blacktown nsw

    • +4

I'm confused - Are you getting a soft serve cone or a phone handset?

  • +2

FYI, I was able to purchase 2 $10 Cordless phones and a box of $2.50 copier paper today.
It looks like the prices are live already.

    • Which store was that?

      • Sorry, I didn't put the name in because i don't not what it is called.
Possibly Campbellfield, Victoria. The one on Sydney Road next to the 24 hours K-Mart.

        • Thanks, nothing at my local store yet.

        • @ Unity1, try scanning it in. It should come up as $10.

        • +2

Thanks TScott, got 2. They hadn't put their stock out yet so they grabbed me 2 from the back.

  • +2

Its on sale now just picked it up @ officeworks blacktown

    • How many left? I want to get 2 after work.

Btw, start date is a bit misleading…

      • I bought 2 at Blacktown,They two left at shelf at 12:00pm they may have more stock at back (call them before come)

        • i must have walked right past you :)

        • Managed to get one. Either I got the last one or they are saving the last few & limiting them to one per person for tomorrow?

  • Thanks OP. Pick up the last one at King st Melb. They say they will have lot more stocks tomorrow.

  • Anybody who has purchased this can you tell me if the wall mount allows the phone to sit flat on the wall or does it stick out alot like the triangle shape? If not flat how far does it stick out?

    • hmm not flat sticks out ~100mm

  • +2

picked up a couple at the Punchbowl store. still a lot left- filled up a whole row of shelves. thanks for the tip guys!

  • picked up a couple, shelf price said $69.95 but scanned at $10

  • +2

….thanks OP and deal88…I picked 2 up at Epping, VIC for $10.00 each.

  • Thanks. Picked up two at Melb CBD.

  • Catalogue pricing has already started today, which annoys me as it means if you wait for the official start you miss out.
There is only one left in Hobart as I bought the only other one.

  • -2

    People still use landline phones????

    Good deal nevertheless ;)

    • VOIP. Still better rates for interstate and overseas. (I get both 10cents untimed)

    • Those who don't have reliable mobile coverage have no choice.

    • +1

Yes, for people in some outer metro suburbs, Tel$tra is only provider and naked isn't available. VOIP works well, however, the regular landline phone (receive only) just makes sense to avoid missing calls from people who still prefer to call the PSTN number.

  • Thank OP. I just bought 3 phone from officeworks Clarence St. Btw they still has 2 phones in stock.

  • +1

This is crazy, just spoke to Auburn (NSW) store and they have sold out. Called up Northmead (NSW) store and they have it in stock but cant sell at the special price till tomorrow. How does this work?

    • It's possible some stores released some stock today and will release the rest tomorrow. The stores with less stock might just be waiting till tomorrow. Maybe Devok can shed some light on this.

    • I got mine from wenty store.. Check them out

  • Guys, is it possible to 'listen in' if there's another call happening on the line?

I already have one cordless downstairs, and want to grab one of these to put upstairs, but I don't want anyone eavesdropping on my calls :P

    • +1

If you're family members aren't eavesdropping you can almost guarantee the government is doing it for them ;)

    • There is a function called Privacy which you can block other handsets to join the call.

  • Campbelltown (NSW) store had 27 in the warehouse, I bought one and two checkout girls wanted one after seeing the price, so 24 left. There is none on the shelf (except for the demo dummy) so you need to ask a staff to fetch it from "the back".

    • Forgot to say that Campbelltown Good Guys do not have model 3115 available for purchase, they only have the 3115+1 duo pack. So sad I miss out on the $3 phone.
