  • Sounds like a decent deal … always wanted to try Sim City 5 on my Mac … but after all these reports that the game is not playable and always needs an online connection I was holding back so far.

    • +1

Plus the fact that its boring and rubbish….

    • +2

My friends and I have had it since release and we still play it! Its boring if you are by yourself but round up a few friends and start a region together! There were quite a few bugs on release, but a lot of that has been fixed up, plus Maxis is looking into implementing an offline mode. There's a lot of hate over it, but I love it :)

      • Ah well … I will try it out myself $21.58 is not too bad … bought one!

  • A good price. Good find.

Just bought a key and got a "This key has already been used message." Any advice or is this a dodgey bargain?

    • Contact the seller ASAP. They may have had a glitch in their systems.

      • I chatted with EA online and they confirmed that they Simcity key was previously registered to another user and that I will need a new key. I am emailing Kinguin support right now with all of the details that Kinguin requested. So far both companies have got back to me in minutes so I hope it is just a glitch. I will let everyone know how it goes.

        • Kinguin is contacting the vendor and hopefully get a response tomorrow.

        • +2

Got a super quick response from Kinguin and now have a product key that works. I am very impressed with their speed in resolving my key problem. I am downloading the client now. :)

    • I purchased one and it is working fine …

  • Not bad but personally I'd wait for a good deal on the boxed version. Even if you pay more, you can re-sell it later (although this is tricky - you need to create a separate Origin account and then re-sell that account along with the game).

    • Not to mention how sketchy you'd look trying to sell an origin account?

      • I've done it before many times. You just list it on eBay, mark the condition as used, and simply include the Origin details in an e-mail to the buyer when they buy it. No need to mention any selling of accounts at all.

  • Does the code work for both PC and MAC?

    • +1

I have a Mac and if I can get a new Origin key then will let you know.

Yes, I am downloading the Mac client right now! This was the best ozbargain for all the Mac users who were holding out for Simcity.

    • Yes it does. Look at my reply to you below.

Just got told it doesn't work on MAC :-(

    Response from Customer Service person:

There is information in description that it works only on Windows:

    Operating System: Windows XP/Vista/7

Isn't there something for Mac where you can emulate a PC? I've never used a Mac before but that's what I've heard.

      • -1

There is a program that I use called Parallels Desktop, but using my iMac (Late 2012 model), there is a delay in graphics. So playing a game like SimCity would likely make it unusable.

        • But can't you also have multiple OS's - i.e. dual boot?

        • Not using Parallels Desktop that I'm aware of… I tried playing around with it but it keeps making me having to run the parallels program first which is through Mac and then open Windows. Hopefully I'm doing something wrong because that would make life easier.

        • I think Boot Camp is what you might be chasing. Never used, but I think thats it.

        • Bootcamp might be more useful to you.

        • +1

In reply to MrZ - Yep Bootcamp boots up Windows, that way so there is no performance hit like you would get using emulation.

It's a REALLY bad idea to run a demanding game in emulation. Parallels, crossover and the like are designed primarily for enterprise programs.

If you want to play Windows based games on an iMac (pre 2011) then you can use it as a monitor for a gaming PC (demanding titles), or (with any iMac) you can run Bootcamp, install a Windows OS and dual boot so it runs native. Only problem is with 2560x1440, there's not too many titles that aren't demanding.

Check this out Chris, EA says it will work with Mac. https://help.ea.com/article/simcity-for-apple-mac-faq

      I quote #6:
"6. If I have both a PC and a Mac, do I have to purchase two copies of the game if I want to play on both systems?
All players who registered their copy of SimCity will have access to both the PC and Mac versions of the game through Origin. Only one Origin account can be logged in at a time. No additional purchases are necessary."
This is again confirmed by this article: http://www.simcity.com/en_US/blog/article/simcity-mac-releas…

      It DOES support Mac.
Also, why Neg just because it didn't look like it was available on Mac? Thats like me negging a McDonalds deal because I'm on a diet.

      • +1

The negger (is it ok to use that word?) is the same guy who tries to run demanding 3D titles in OSX using Windows emulation and hasn't heard about Bootcamp. Go figure.

      • My key does support Mac.

    • Why is this even a neg?

    • I bought it this offer today and can confirm that it is working on Mac :-). Positively surprised … played over 4 hours and was great fun … Not sure if I would pay the full price … but it gives me lots of entertainment for the 20$ :-)

  • Wonder if the seller is like gamekeyoffer.
I bought a cheap key from them a while ago and after 4 weeks EA shut down my access to game cause code was dodgy

I am happier I got my money back (PayPal) and bought a physical copy. Less chance of getting screwed over in the long run.

When it sounds too good to be true chances are it is.

    • +1

So you were able to play for 4 weeks and then had the key deactivated? That's horrible!! People on an OS holiday better never buy an Origin title! At least with Steam you can email them to have your account unlocked while OS.

It's one thing to refuse activation based on region, it's a different to let you play for a while then remove access.

      • I think you missed the point….

  • Bad seller.

Have previous experience with other "deals".

The Steam CD keys they sell you are non-tradable on Steam, because they are using fresh Steam accounts to buy them.

Then you'll find in a month or so the key is cancelled because they used fake credit cards to buy them.

    AVOID KINGUIN LIKE THE PLAGUE

  • Should have read that last post first perhaps?

Ordered a key…by the way it's gone up a few bucks…key has already been used

Emailed code, error message, order no.

Reply said please send us code, error message and order no with screenshots of my games list in origin and of the error.

Did this, reply said now do the screenshots on one screen.

Did this, reply said we will contact our supplier for a replacement key.

Replies were quick but resolution still not reached several hours later.

I would have thought they could issue me with another key and work it out with their supplier at their own pace.

    • Yep there are plenty of good CD Key sellers around - CDKEYSHERE, CJ's, Amazon…

      Forget these fools…

  • Here's the latest email from them:
