Sydney Opera House Turns 40 FREE ENTRY Sunday 20 October

The Opera House’s 40th birthday celebrations will start on its official day, Sunday October 20, through to the following Monday, October 28.

The Opera House will celebrate the actual day with a cake and a song on October 20. From 10am, the public are invited to come and sing happy birthday and share the cutting of the Opera House cake. Entry is free.

Also on October 20, the Opera House will hold an Open Door so that people can visit the main stages at the heart of the Opera House, the Concert Hall and the Joan Sutherland Theatre. Between 9am and 1pm, members of the public will have the opportunity to wander the world-renowned Concert Hall and Joan Sutherland Theatre, which have played host to Australia and the world’s greatest artists and companies. Entry is free.

      • True that haha. I'm missing my Melbourne roads. What's with all the bike lanes here? Looks like cyclists they are taking over the cbd, and they don't even use them from what I've seen.

      The parking in Chifley Tower (very close to the Sydney Opera House) has a Sunday flat rate of $10, not that expensive compared to the price of the train on weekends.

      Usually it's a quiet parking on weekends.

      • price on train on SUNDAYs with FAMILY FUNDAYs is only $2.50 per person…. in fact, trains, boats, buses, planes… all day $2.50.

        • I said it from an adult point of view, not everybody have kids to get the benefits of the Family Funday offer.

    If you have kids and want to save the hastle of driving and finding parking, get the Sunday Funday for $2.50/Ticket valid in trains, buses and ferries.
    you can always go to Luna park after Opera House.
