PlayStation 4 - $549 Guaranteed Pre-Christmas 2013 Stock from Target

107

Of all the retailers out there, only Target claim to be able to still honour delivery of a PlayStation 4 before Christmas 2013. Quickly get into Target stores and pre-order ASAP otherwise you'll miss out on playing a PS4 on Christmas day! *** EDIT: Kmart just confirmed their pre-order but it will arrive at the end of January. NO OTHER retailers have received an additional allocation for PlayStation 4. If you want one before Christmas; you better be quick to pre-order at Target! ***
/// Estimated delivery into stores is between 16th December to 20th December, 2013. ///
The bargain is for anyone desperate for a PS4 before Christmas you'll not have to pay ridiculous eBay seller prices!!

  • Are they doing what the video stores used to do with the promise of "If its not instore then its free?" LOL.
What happens if it doesn't arrive pre-Christmas?

    Also not really a bargain………

    • // Estimated delivery into stores is between 16th December to 20th December, 2013. ///

  • This isn't a bargain msjb. A retailer having stock is at best a forum post.

    • +5

      Forum.

    • +11

A guarentee without a penality clause is just a empty guarentee.

Once they aren't able to deliver it by Chrismas day, then they will just do the usual "We are sorry, there has been a UNFORESEEN stock shortage"

It is a smart way of advertising from Target though to suck in all the people who didn't preorder earlier and want to preorder now and get it before Xmas.

    • +10

"The bargain is the fact that you'll be able to play a machine Christmas day"
      What a completely stupid logic.

        • +20

My problem is this is ozBARGAIN. Not ozWhoHasStock. What don't you understand?

        • +1

          exactly

      • +1

        completely agree with cain toad

    • -2

brb, gonna post up a deal on ps3 in stock for christmas day

    • +2

Because your Christmas Day won't be complete unless you are staring into the TV playing a video game?

Anyway, let me know when it hits $250. Until then it's PS3 for me.

  • what do you reckon the chances are of walking into target, jb etc and picking a ps4 up on launch day or just after, without pre order? could I pre order this and then if I get one earlier just cancel this?

    • Your best luck would be Kmart for that, as they're the only major retailer not taking pre-orders from my knowledge.

It's very unlikely you'll be able to walk in and pick one up elsewhere though. JB, EB and Harvey Norman sold out of first shipment orders in June, and my local Target has already sold out of first day already (luckily I secured a first day console)

      • Kmart confirmed their preorder now for January 2014 allocation.

    • I wreckon there'd be a fair chance they wouldn't run out of stock. The hype isn't as much as it was for the PS3 - nor should it be because the difference in graphics from PS2 to PS3 will be more noticeable than from PS3 to PS4. Graphics are subject to the law of diminishing returns after a certain point.

      Launch day is November 29.

      • +1

Yes, but the PS3 was almost twice as much as the PS4. If anything it's the opposite. Shipments are being entirely sold out months early for the PS4, while the PS3 didn't have a massive opening, as it was so pricey. Call any store and ask if you can pre-order to have a console for release day Nov 29. Chances are they'll tell you you'll have to wait.

  • -6

Not really a bargain because the introductory price in Australia is $549. You should be able to find it cheaper than the RRP.

In the US, the introductory price is US $399 (or $417 AU). Yes, we often pay more for electronics here but this is a pretty big difference.

It's still way cheaper than the PS3 was at release, not the best looking design imo.

    • -1

Why is it so hard for people to remember GST when comparing US prices?

      • -4

I'm well aware of the GST

        $417 + 10% = $459.5

We're still paying $100 more than the US price even if they had a 10% GST.

        • +4

If you're well aware of it, why didn't you include it in your original calculations?

        • Currency fluctuation also plays a large roll. The AUD is buying more USD now than at the time prices were announced, and was predicted by analysts to fall further rather than rise. With a weaker AUD, that gap in price is much smaller. This would not have accounted for the full difference (also have to factor in market size, etc) but it's a big player.

        • -4

          Calm down GST police.

        • Exactly, they have to price thing based on worst case future drops in our dollar. Consoles aren't like petrol, the public aren't accustomed to fluctuating RRP.

        • +3

I'm not the GST police. I just don't like ignorant hyperbole posts.

        • +3

Lol, however thats not always the truth though about the "worse case" future drops in our dollar.

Its Australia, we get marked up almost double than the rest of the world.

Using the excuse of "worse case" doesn't always cut it when there are comparisons which literally we Australians are paying double the price than overseas. I highly doubt GST or worse case scarnarios would cover doubling a cost.

        • -7

          Haha, sorry GST police.

    • I payed $999 for a PS3

      • Ouch.

      • $660 for me, I can't bring myself to take a loss on it :(

    • +1

Regarding the design: It looks like a sandwich press. I'm afraid I might try fit my foccacia into the bluray drive.

      • Pull out your Breville, paint it black, stick in the entertainment unit, invite friends to come see your new PS4. Just conveniently don't have a game "yet".

  • Here is $20 cheaper with free shipping and the site says shipped on 29 Nov for same day delivery.

+1 I would avoid too. The only way to beat Australian RRP by that much would be to grey import, yet they are claiming that it will be shipped on release day from Australia. Fishy.

I can tell you that they are using my company's name and ABN and they have NOTHING to do with us. They also used it to register the domain, and I have lodged a formal complaint with auDA about that, as well as with ASIC and Fair Trading. If anyone wants those references please let me know by personal mail on this site.

You can make your own judgement about the company based on that.

AD Gaming (the company's name they are using) is a very reputable (and government regulated) company. Sadly, ASIC details of companies are openly available on the ASIC website for anyone to use to misrepresent themselves. I'm sure we're not the first and won't be the last.

If you wish to make a complaint, contact the following:

          Thanks for commenting OzFlipper.

I must say that I thought it was very odd that a company that has been trading as long as AD Gaming had only just created a website. Good to have it confirmed!

        • +2

          Thanks for filling us in.

          Yeah, good work OzFlipper.

          Welcome to OzBargain.

Thanks for taking my call, and talking with me, so late in the evening. Sorry you had to be introduced to OzBargain in this way, but please stick around for the bargains.

        • +1 to A3A too for chasing this all up. The whole community benefits from such efforts.

    • +3

I would not be buying from here.

  • +1

Price just beaten here. $547 from Harvey Norman. Pre-order price guarantee.

    http://www.harveynorman.com.au/sony-playstation-4.html

Just saying $549 in the topic is not the best price for the PS4. Obviously Target is not holding up to their price guarantee either because HN is $2 cheaper.

    • +2

Except they say "Pre-order NOW to reserve your place in the queue for 2014".

      Good old HN.

      • Yeah well. You're not guaranteed to get the PS4 before Christmas 2013 at other retailers either. It's more like in 2014.

        • Yeah I wasn't so much disagreeing with you, more just letting people know in case they rush into it and think its the same 'guarantee' as what Target are offering.

        • I bet when it comes to around Christmas 2013 that Target will release a notice saying there's a delay in getting stock from the supplier and the PS4 will be released in 2014. I really can't see how Target could guarantee stock delivery when there could be unforseen circumstances with the supplier. It's a marketing ploy.

        • Hence why I said 'guarantee' :-)

        • // Estimated delivery into stores is between 16th December to 20th December, 2013. ///

  • +3

I just found a subway which can guarantee they will make me a sandwhich in time for Xmas lunch. Going to post up the deal now.

    • Doubtful

  • it is simply a:

PRE-ORDER now and we will TRY TO fulfill your order, and IF WE CANNOT do it, we will send you a LOVELY message and tell you "no more stocks, go buy elsewhere"!

how is this a bargain? LOL!

  • Probably more of a forum post considering the price is the same across retailers.

  • Certainly no bargain here. $549 is RRP.

    • On eBay already there are some sellers offering pre Christmas PS4's for around $800..

  • I look forward to all the other RRP faux bargains leading up to Christmas. Bring them on!

  • +1

I agree there's no bargain here because it's clearly RRP, BUT I have a feeling there is something to this pre-order. Apparently they have an extended allocation of 1500 units. I've put my name down, might be worth a look for all the late-comers like me…?

  • I wasn't aware that a pre-order did not mean delivery on the day? I have ordered from EB, does this mean I may not be able to pick up a console on the day of release? Sorry for being slightly off topic.

    • I have a pre-order from EB, but was one day too late.

      here is response from EB:

Any preorders for the PS4 console placed after close of business Friday the 5th of July are sadly not guaranteed to be received on the launch date.

    • +1

I forgot the cut-off date, but EB games sold out of guaranteed launch day consoles a long time ago. They now advertise 2014 pick-up.

  • What do you think guys/gals, will Sony do TV/PS4 bundles for Xmas?

    • Given how limited the supply seems and how quickly everything is getting snapped up, I seriously doubt it. Maybe christmas 2015…

  • Just as an aside…
It's as if Mr Blocky designed the console, while Mr Ergo Mastah designed the controller.

  • I kind of wonder whether the shortages or limits are legit, or a ruse to create a pressure on people to commit to buy one. If there were heaps available you could "um and ah" about it giving you a chance to think reasonably about whether you really needed this gadget (when you most likely already own a perfectly fine gadget that does the same thing), whereas it seems to be "OMG I must buy this or I will miss out!"

    • +2

Trust me, they've had overwhelming demand for the console since Microsoft screwed up the XBOX One so badly.

I work for a retailer and we've had 10 XBOX preorders and 45 PS4 preorders. That should give you some idea about the demand for each console.

In addition to that, they only pump out about 1 million consoles per month from their factories at console launch, so as not to overproduce consoles and have them collecting dust just like the Wii U is. They would rather under-produce than over-produce.

Early September is the rough date for when console manufacturing began, so at best they'll have about 3 million consoles available to sell when launch date comes around. Not much when you consider that is for a global market.

  • awaiting PS4 bundle

  • Not really a bargain. Just because you can "get it in time for Christmas" doesn't mean you have yourself a bargain.

    Belongs in forum.

    • All interested PS4 consumers have a right to know about this. On eBay already there are some sellers offering pre Christmas PS4's for around $800..

  • There's around 25-26 days from release till Christmas. Anyone know an exact date? An estimate even? Don't say before Christmas haha. Maybe I will just pre order anyway hoping to get it early December and just cancel if I get my other pre order at DickSmith before this or vice versa.

    • Target's 2nd PS4 allocation date is estimated delivery into stores between 16th December to 20th December, 2013.

  • Target's claim that they're the only retailer able to honour delivery of the PS4 before christmas is false because JB Hi-Fi is claiming that pre-orders from them will get it before christmas 2013 and for $1 less than Target too.

    http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/ps4-console/

  • @hollykryten …that's right, it's false NOW as JB HiFi are (5 days AFTER Target) offering guaranteed pre-Christmas in-store delivery. :-)

  • Sales clerk at JB told me they recieved the memo from Headoffice on Friday stating this is due to extra allocations from sony for JB.

  • Smiling when I got this bundle for 521.99 at target :)
