Dyson DC54 Animal Barrel Vacuum Cleaner Now $849.15 (Was $999) at Myer

Dyson on sale at Myer

Our Dyson gave up on us yesterday after 10+ years of faithful service. So today I decided to buy it's replacement. I know they are an expensive vac, but they do such a good job and my last one lasted so long, that I really didn't bother to look at anything else.

I checked all the usual places on line and all the online sites for the big retailers. We live in Launceston, so it's often hard to get the same deals as the big mainland cities. I discovered that Myer have a really decent sale on.

The DC54 Animal Barrel Vac was $999.00 now $849.15. This is the best price I could find anywhere at all.

I then went to Harvey Norman and got them to match the Myer price and chuck in 12 months interest free which was the icing on the cake.

      Not disappointing, refreshing.
And they are very good vacuums.

If Harvey Norman was willing to match the price then you could've gotten better, don't mean to burst your bubble.

Also if your paying interest free that means that they are capable/willing to knock another 5% or so off for cash since that's roughly the amount that they pay to offer interest free terms.

Personally I would've taken that price to The Good Guys, then when they have told me their best price I ask for the manager (my local being Fab, a really friendly guy who will geniuinely give you his best price on the first go without any salesmen speak). Once you've gotten the best price you can then pay with INGpaywave if you've got it (and the cash) and do a bunch of $99 transactions to pay for it getting 5% back for each one.

So $850, less 5% for not using interest free and haggling = $807.50. Less 5% for INGpaywave, $767.12

Don't take this insultingly, try to use any info you get in this thread to better serve you in future.

Vacuum. Price in title. God im turning into JV.

  • Haha, I was posting the same, clones!

  • Price is OK if you really need one in a hurry, but I don't think it is really cheap comparing to previous deals posted on here.

      I needed it in a hurry :)

  • Rush price match with masters, another 10% off!

    • No masters down here or I would have… Harvey nNorman is everywhere.

      • I was going to pm you but u don't accept PM……

can you please tell me about the Dyson that you bought? I read a lot of bad review about it on the web and I am hesitating to buy. It cant suck any thing bigger than 10 cents……not only that, it tend to push some slightly big objects away, such as m&m chocolates….

Let me know, better hear from you than on the web. Thank you for your time.

  • I bought a Dyson a while ago at ~$1000. Thought it was great. Then later bought a $99 unit from godrfeys, works just as well. "never loses suction" isn't quite true, if it gets blocked it sucks from another area that does not pickup dirt/whatever off the ground. A $99 unit works as well as a "dyson"

  • How does this compare to my Henry Vacuum I got from the UK website?

  • +2

Is this like iphone of the vacuums? sigh I got both iphones and this one at home…

    • I'm also an iPhone/Mac person.

  • My sister has the motorised head one at home (forgot exact model) but she paid $1k plus.

To be honest it was a disappointment when i went to try it out compared to my $79 richards morphy vorcity (deal from here was awesome http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/107939)

    Here are some comparisons:
    1. The dyson was sooooo heavy esp with the motorised head!
2.Very very bulky esp the tube extension
    3. Doesnt suck as welll as my vorcity on the edges
    4. The vorcity can go under most furniture with its slim head but this one cant coz the head is too big
    5. When the motorised head is on gosh its soooooo damn loud

  • Is this deal over already? The website (and David Jones too now) is stating the price is $999 in Sydney.

    • Yep. Appears to have been a weekend sale. That said, if Harvey Norman could do it yesterday, then they can still do the same price today.

  • I saw the dc54 at Costco for 799$ last weekend.
