Not really a "Bargain" as it has always been free, but awesome nonetheless. They have been doing the tours for as long as I can remember and I highly recommend them!

  • Also if you are transiting Singapore with Singapore Airways the stopover packages include free tickets for most of the major attractions included when you book the hotel.

Saves heaps if you plan to do a lot and pretty much the same hotel rates as other sites, although restricted choice.

    • Yes , and if you don't book the hotels through them, you can always show the attractions the Singapore Airlines Boarding pass for a 10 ~ 20 % discount,

For exp: we got a 20 % discount to the Singapore Flyer just by showing the Eticket booked on SIA.

  • Last time I went to this one was in 2005, but what I didn't like is the tour guide kept my passport and only return it after we came back to airport.

    • +1

Never hand over your passport overseas. If they need it, they can photocopy it if they look legit. I wouldnt ever hand over the most important thing to me whist overseas lol.

    • I would not leave my passport to anyone, when I am traveling

    • Its common for hotels and tours in Asia to ask to keep your passport whilst staying with them, insane thing to do really. By our second trip to Asia we figured out that we could ask them to make a copy or take our own photocopies of our passport and give them that even though some of them would try and insist on the real thing, just stand your ground. A copy should include the visa as well.

  • +2

Damn… I had two stopovers in Singapore recently, and missed everything you mentioned except for the free Wi-Fi :/

    • +3

      Ha ha,
It's just for people like you that I posted this deal :-) Don't worry it will still be around the next time you are there.

  • +1

This goes perfectly with my recent bookings to Singapore ;)

  • this has been there for past 9 years atleast. because remember taking one in 2004, having a 9 hours stop over at changi. pretty good.

    • Same I did it back in 2004

    • me three

  • Make sure you register inside before leaving customs

  • I'm doin this soon!

  • best airport ever. it just needs its own ice rink like MUC has during Christmas and it'll be perfect <3

    • +2

Terminal 3 is excellent, but Terminal 1 is not so great, it's just ok….

    • Yeah I was there last month (saw Bob Geldoff in one of the swanky stores in airport) best airport I've been to ever. Gonna take a trip to Singapore itself soon.

  • +2

it has been free from always found it 5 years ago.

  • +1

Did that one about 2 years ago while on a 11 hour stopover, and i must say that for a free tour it was pretty damn good. I highly recommend it if you have the extra time.

Another tip by the way: one of the Hotels on the Changi airport has a swimmingpool on the roof which , if you pay a small fee, you as a traveler can make use of.
Don't loose track of time while lounging in the jacuzzi though, you might miss your flight like i almost did. =P

For those screaming how this is always free DID you use the frigging REPORT button or just NEGGED it so you look to be smarter than the rest

Oh and BTW you must not exit the airport before taking the tour. ie you cant go thru customs and immigration then try to take the tour, it must be from Airside AND you cant have gone thru customs and immigration before on the day.

    • +1

Thought the hulk was coming out again, settle down mate

    • wanted to look smarter than the rest

  • Stupid question…but do they allow you to get off the tour bus?

Seems someone could want to go on the 'tour' but use it as free transport into the City.

    • I don't think so as you would have to pass customs etc

    • can you bring your bags on the tour?

    • yeah I would like to know that too.

    • they dont bother if you run off the bus, but they have your passport anyway (or at least they had when i was there 7 yrs ago). someone with more recent experience can confirm on this.

    • short answer, no. for some tours there is a small amount of walking, so yes, but it is not for you to go shopping etc. When I went last I had to put my hand luggage in airport lockers for a small fee. Also don't forget the slide at T3: http://www.changiairport.com/at-changi/entertainment-lifesty…. if you buy something for 10 bucks at the shops you get a complimentary ticket. Personally I thought it was useless but kids might enjoy. You have to go out through customs and then recheck-in. Not a problem for ozzie passport holders

    • When I went through there in June I did the City Lights tour. It stopped at Merlion Park and we had about 20-25 mins to walk around, get photos etc.

Also note that the day of the week that you do the City Lights tour can determine the actual time required. I went through on a Sunday and due to clear traffic the 2 hour tour only took just over an hour. Other days of the week are apparently much slower due to traffic, and I guess this is where the 2 hour timeframe comes from.

  • so is it better to take some other tour that allows u to step outside the bus and explore a bit ? any recommendations ?

  • Good luck getting tickets to these! I've tried many times but they always fill up hours before departure, so very impractical. More like you need 12 hours to spare in transit.

Free "FRESH AIR" in Hyde park, Sydney !!!

    • Free "FRESH AIR" in Hyde park, Sydney !!!

That's not available these days because of the smoke. On other normal days, that's about the only thing you will get for free in Sydney, Maquarie airports will squeeze the last cent out of you. Good luck trying to find a free tour from the airport.

If you still insist on finding something 'free' in Sydney, here's the Sydney city tour. If you go on that tour please tip, it's not like fresh air.

  • Oh Perth Airport. When you EVER gonna be even close to Singapore Airport?

    • +4

For Perth airport to be close to Changi :

      • T2 and T3 in Changi would have be destroyed by Earthquake.
      • T1 would have to shut down every amenity except for 2 toilets.
      • The Changi counter staff would have to halve their IQ.
      • Perth airport would have to triple in size, and upgrade from the one internet booth.
      • Also, you need to widen the arrival area by at least 10 times in order to have the traffic going quickly at 3pm. I arrived at 3pm one day not long ago and there is 5 flights with about 1000 passengers on it and the customs already cant handle it. total joke! worse than some third world countries! lol

BRB - just going to post a deal from my local library - all books can now be borrowed for FREE!!! :o

    • +7

your username was a lot funnier

  • -5

Yeah I don't see how this is a bargain when the reality is it has always been free. The Paris offer has a usual cost. This one doesn't.

Where's the bargain? This is more like information. Should be in the forums.

    • +5

Comment has already been made at least twice.

It is a bargain (benefit) to those that have never been there or didn't know about it.

      55 + votes… must be a bargain! :-)

      Just move on…

  • Were all these aggressive positive comments arranged by Eddie Obeid's sub-factional dealings? Who's getting mining rights from this deal? o_O

    • +1

      Hey Little Johnnie,
Don't you know that I quit the labour party, I will sue you if you try to smear me.

PS: can you put in a good word for me with Campbell Newman, I hear he's giving out mining licenses left, right and centre.

Transit for 6 hours last time at Changi airport.. went for a massage, slept a bit, and played games on the Xbox 360 section.

Most awesome airport in the world. Melbourne doesn't even have a free Wi-Fi at the airport, sad sad sad

    • +1

Melbourne doesn't even have a free Wi-Fi at the airport, sad sad sad

I complained about not having free wifi on melb airport to tourism and other ministers, Now they have started giving free wifi, I used it 2 weeks ago from my departure gate.

But in general the passenger handling capacity @ Melb airport sucks, we were waiting 4 hours for customs clearance. Bloody waste of time and the worst amongst the whole of SE Asia (Except India).

Personally,i wouldn't go to Singapore for any money,"bargain" or freebie….seriously, the possibility of being hung, with their perverted "justice" system is just way too much for me (did no one see the series "Better Man" ?If not,go take a look and then say you'd still go.And before you ask…NO,I DON'T ENDORSE DRUGS,just the right to a legal system that is actually legal ).Honestly,London,Paris,Rome and several other European countries have these tours, don't want your passport (a dodgy practice if ever i saw one)and are a lot more likely to end in you actually getting back home.

    • +3

Yeh, because the conviction rate of people taking free tours is pretty high.

      • -2

No,but corruption and tainted facts are pretty high.

    • +1

saw the promos for the show…that was enough bleeding heart rubbish for me.

he knowingly and willingly trafficked a substantial amount of heroin. and for him to say he "didn't know" about Singapore's death penalty? lol there are notices for incoming visitors everywhere. failing that, he should have checked the smarttraveller.gov.au website, which was launched in 2003.

now, if those drugs were planted on him and he still got executed, you'd have a point.

      • -3

I just think that it was a terrible waste of life and the legal system there was a travesty.I won't say anymore about it,because it is off point of original posting, but the show pointed out some glaring injustices in that country that resulted in a young man being executed. It was wrong what he did,but it wasn't like he did it to feed his own addiction,to make a profit for his own excesses or to sell for his own "business" dealings…he did it to save his family from being killed,to get money to pay for his brother's stupidity and to be the strong male role in his household. It doesn't excuse what he did,but justice isn't always black and white.

    • +3

If you had watched 'Serangoon Road' first….would you have been to Singapore on the first flight thinking sex with Hot Singaporean women was easy to obtain?

  • Does anyone know if this tour can drop you off in the city at the end? Instead of going back to the airport? I want to do it first thing when I arrive there.
