Free Labour on Umart Custom System Builds

150

Umart Online have free installation at time of writing. Expiry uncertain.

www.umart.com.au

Individual part prices may not be the cheapest around but for those who want their system assembled and want the 1yr warranty, a system from Umart with this offer will probably come cheaper than other stores. Good selection of parts to chose from as well.

3yr RTB warranty also available and can confirm that it covers both labour and parts.

    Probably? Or will?

really depends on the system you want built and specials at that time (umart or otherwise)

hmm where does it say the 1yr warranty though?

      • +3

The 1 year warranty is standard for a lot of computer shops.. and is a given because of Australian Consumer Law. All shops must offer at least 12 months of warranty.

MSY offer 1 year RTB warranty on their builds and parts.
It should be no different for UMART.

For UMART, you can extend the warranty to 3 years by paying extra.

        • Note that Umart have revised the 3yrs warranty product and the user comments are no longer valid despite still being there.

It use to be a 3yrs onsite warranty supplied by United Electrical (which I had with my previous rig). I personally didn't think it was a bad product having used the warranty twice and gotten good outcomes but many people whinged about UE's service. Anyway, the key point is that UE has gone belly up as of mid 2012 (Google it… long Whirlpool thread on the topic).

The current 3yrs warranty is supported by Umart themselves (since it's a Return to Base warranty). I usually try to get 3yrs+ out of my desktops and, despite choosing good quality components in this new build, I like my peace of mind and for $120, assuming Umart doesn't go belly up as well, I know I won't have to spend more on my PC for the next 3yrs if something does go wrong.

      • Can't find on their website any indication of warranty but their custom config systems do come with 1yr warranty. Their sales rep confirmed this was part of the deal too… though I purchased 3yrs RTB warranty as well. Been holding off on a replacement desktop since Feb this year and this deal comes around when I decide to bite the bullet… talk about luck.

    • Seriously? Of course there is no way that every combination of parts on their site is going to be less that $60 more than that combination of parts on all other sites ffs. They are going to have brands that they do higher volume in etc. I daresay you may be able to get quad socket machines cheaper elsewhere - they wouldn't do many. On the other hand they are going to be hard to beat on a mid-high range gaming machine with common parts (where you arent TOO picky about specific model) and a case & quality PSU they carry a lot of.
Why do you bother with making such obviously meaningless comments hassling posters?

      • I was asking about the deal to see if it's good, is there a problem with that?

And why do you keep stalking me thinking that I even care.. I actually laugh when I read your waffle posts…nice life bro.

        • Dont flatter yourself, you only gets noticed in passing - a sort of 'why would anyone write such tripe… oh, its him' thing
Since you seem to be here much more than I, with so many more challenges to make and so much time to actually be arsed to look through a dozen shops to find one to beat something by 5c, if I have a 'nice life' then I hate to think what you have. I mean, i dont have a choice about spending lots o time at the PC, physically. Apparently for you it is just a lack of social alternatives more appealing than shooting down bargains. At least when I am up to it I have places to go.
Yes i know - your short attention span means you are unable to get this far, or maybe it is just cos it isnt about you

        • I don't know point you're trying to make but I think it deserves a neg.

I recently bought some computer parts from these guys (at West Ryde) and they are really helpful.

Always found Umart among the cheapest (next to MSY basically, and SO much easier to deal with) with reasonable shipping charges and good service, so this seems like a great deal to me!

    • +1

Yeah, MSY are generally cheaper by a few dollars on most parts but their website (or rather PDF files) are a pain to sift through and Umart's website/ordering system is much easier to use.

And Umart systems are easier to order and the option for 3yrs warranty is what wins me over. They use to do 2yrs warranty by default though… my first two rigs bought through them (bought simultaneously… one was my bro's) both failed within 1month and 1week of the 2yrs warranty expiring. No issues up till that point. So yeah, 1yr warranty just doesn't do it for me.

This will be my 4th system bought through their Milton store. The two rigs my bro has ever bought have been from Umart as well… the first lasted a solid 4-5yrs… the second has been going well for the past few months.

    • Well, same day shipping in syd metro if you order something in stock by 1030 in my experience.

By the way, only thing I don't understand was why they listed courier please instead of fastway.

    Umart's website = Old school

But perfect for people who already knew what they want.

    • +1

Still better than MSY's pdfs - lol

But yeah, perfectly good for those of us who know what they want… and have been customers for the past 15yrs. And in my case, when i only buy a PC every 3-5yrs, it's nice going back and everything is in the same categories to search through.

      • The PDF is old school, but everything you need is nicely crammed into a few pages which makes for efficient printing.
Old MSY customers would definitely swear by the PDF, that's why they kept the parts.PDF link running for decades now.

Its all categorised and everything you need is just a CTRL+F search away. And you can just drop in and say 'I want the price list of all of your parts' and everthing is listed in just a few pages.

  • Damn you guys have everything BUT the case I want… (Bitfenix Prodigy M)

    • I emailed them because I was interested in it too, and they say they can get it for you - "You can send through an email to our purchasing officer on [email protected] and we can see if we can order them in for you."

      • Thanks but I already built it on the weekend. Took some effort but it was worth it. :)
