The amount of petrol and time wasted to get a refund would have been more than 5% mark up surely. Plus i think most of us would have used it on weekly specials which are the same online as instore

    • +2

What a joke, the whole point of buying online is you save time, petrol, and risk of getting your car scratched in a car park. And the cost to you for this is approx $2 for $50 spent. About 1.5l of petrol and probably a tonne of co2.
But instead, you get a delivery and then do all the counter productive things to get ur 2 bucks.

      Yuck!

      • +10

i much prefer going to the shop. i don't just go to woolies. aldi & coles are in the same shopping centre. i also go to the a local fruit shop which has fruit & vegies much cheaper than woolworths or coles. any physical activity is good.

        • +5

Me too actually, but what Woolies is offering is a bargain! Without the need to further trickery like refunding to get a few cents per item back.

        • +1

I wouldnt buy anything fresh online coz i like to choose them myself but buy bulky items jumbo nappies so i dont have to lug a newborn around while pushing trolley :)

    • +14

Buy specials only.. there is thousands of them. The specials are the same price.

And buy heavy stuff only, drink coke? buy tons of it when its on special. Keep some in the fridge so you can enjoy a can while you watch the delivery man lug 10 cartons up your driveway.

      • +1

Or the Starmaid 52l containers. Just add 1 to your order each time while they're on special for under $10. Bonus: use the container to organise your boot when you next shop in-store :-)

        • I cant find these available online anymore.

    • yeah exactly, Woolies online is good for stocking up on items that are on special (better still half price). I wouldn't bother getting regular items or fresh produce as I'd like to select that myself and/or shop elsewhere.

    • -4

Good on you. Vote with your feet.

I find it totally unacceptable that the Coles and Woolies online stores can charge such a high premium for buying online compared to a store. They used to have a policy of price matching the local store (that was what I thought was happening until recently).

Quite right, buy it on special (or Woolies Everyday or Coles Down and Staying Down prices) and you pay the same as in store).

      • +2

Totally unacceptable? Shops can put any price they like on an item. If the customer purchases that item it's not the shops fault that the customer paid too much. Stop blaming Coles & Woolies for your inability to shop around or know the normal price for an avocado.

      • +1

        I don't think you understand.

Yes its bad of them for misleading customers.

However you aren't actually paying anymore.

Coles/Woolworths are making the delivery costs cheaper by putting the price into the products.

If you removed this premium, the delivery costs would compensate for this.

        • +1

Probably more the fact they have to get the items and pack them which normally you would do yourself.

        • I agree, but my point is that picking/packing items is commonly a fee put into the delivery cost, supermarkets for some reason didn't opt to do this.

    • Giftcard is 5% off and this code is 20% ($10/$50), plus items that are 30%-50% off plus free delivery, that's lots of savings compared to Coles as some of their items rarely have discount, like formulas, nappies etc. Depend what you buy.

  • worked for me, thanks mate!

  • +35

Stop Abusing the system guys !!!! Many genuine users don't get to enjoy it because of poor greedy behavior of many others. Please have some consideration for others.

    • +8

Judging from the code, I guess technically this discount was intended for genuine users with entertainment cards who missed out when the last code was cancelled…

      • +1

presumabley a lot of OZbargainers would have ent book anyhow though.

    • +4

Agree! Learn to use not abuse!

    • +6

LOL, the ironing is delicious. Everyone who hasn't purchased the EntBook is already abusing the system by using a discount coupon that's not intended for them in the first place. I love it when people get self righteous as long as it's convenient.
      neg away…

      • +10

        the ironing is delicious

        indeed

        • +3

Not sure if you're taking the piss, but if you are then you may not be as smart as you think. (Google what I said).

If on the other hand you were agreeing with me, I apologise.

        • -2

If you did that deliberately your not as funny as you think.

        • +1

lol, nice way to backtrack mate. You thought you were smarter than I am and got caught out. Like I said, if you're still confused, google it!!

      • -2

Thank you. Made Friday even better. 'How do you get your iron?'

        • I have a feeling you're finding it funny for all the wrong reasons.

      • +1

Don't you think there's something weird going on here?

  • +3

Be satisfied with 20% off. No need to try to add other discounts or exploit the system but I suppose some are just thinking of themselves and don't care if they wreck it for everyone else.

    • I get a feeling it is the oz bargain way. Oz bargain moto is to get anything for free if we can. And for some people, turn around and attack the stores they buy from for paying farmers so little. Lol

  • Even if they are 5% more expensive online, this deal will still save you money if you stick to $50 orders.

    • +2

and pay on-line with giftcards you bought instore using your ING paywave card for 5% off!

      • Haha yeah that's what I'm doing. :-P

    • With the discount and convenience of having it delivered 5% more is no big deal.

  • +2

    So is entbooktenoff finished?

    • +2

      doesn't work for me anymore

    • +4

      Quite unlikely.
If they are negligent in the setup of their online store and discount offerings then how can it be the fault of the customer?
Online stores are not new and if their staff & management are not capable of managing it correctly then that is where the fault lies.

  • +1

Doesn't seem to work for me. Unfortunately

  • I need beer for this Sunday, if I were to buy, I can click and collect today or tomorrow some time?

    • depends on how booked your local store was. when i just ordered time slots for whole weekend were available

  • +2

thanks! $10 off and free delivery

  • Good to see the specials not available in their stores (rice bran oil) were available online with a further $10 discount and I also received 15 cents fuel for shopping $80 and the coupon code works - thanks OP

    • oil sold out :(

      • As it happened, the oil ran out and my order was less than $50, but still got my discount and free delivery and I promptly went to the local shop for a "raincheck" (see below)

    • you're better off with two orders of $50

    • For guys who could not get the oil, go to a shop and ask for "rain check", I got a slip for 4 cans with 4 week expiry to be sold at the same price..

  • meh leave them alone, I doubt those doing the $10 refund thing are a lot of people and they probably need it.

  • -3

It is a trick. I think I just about have enough with woolworths. First the online prices are marked
higher, compare bukchoy 1.49 and 1.89 online. Secondly the many items on sales are not reflected online. Thirdly there is the deliver charge when all it cost for you is the petrol cost which should cost you not more than $1 versus their charges of $10! The best bargain nowaday is still guerrilla style, go to a shop buy their sales items on the way home.

    • +9

"Thirdly there is the deliver charge when all it cost for you is the petrol cost which should cost you not more than $1 versus their charges of $10!"

Really? You think that they are just wanting to cover their petrol cost? What about the driver, the truck, the picker/packer, the order processor, etc?

    • +2

Do you really think paying the exact same price for a delivered item, where the delivery cost burden is on the retailer, is sustainable? No one's holding a gun to your head to shop online, or with woolies no less. Enjoy the coupon and reset your expectations - or try to run a business at a loss.

    • +2

JDR is right. You must consider the whole supply chain process and associated costs to a business. You are only looking from your perspective as a consumer, which is fair enough and most people don't care about the details. In your case, it is not advantageous to use their home delivery service.

      • +1

If only ozbar did consider all the benefits of the consumer before he farted that out. He didn't consider the ppeople who have no car that can't easily shop, or the fact that most people pay approximately $1000+ for car rego and insurance, that the consumer is saving(and yes, it is a saving since the risk of car incidents when u don't drive is zip, compared to car parks) , and time it takes to drive to the shops and pick the items and pay and drive back.

    • +1

but as it is it's not transparent. i would rather see store prices and then an additional "picking/handling fee" or similar.

  • Can't seem to find the alfa rice bran oil 4L online - sold out perhaps?

  • 4 cartons of Pepsi Max delivered for what works out at 10 bucks each. Not bad at all! (saves a bulk buy tomorrow at Big W)

  • I'd be careful of ordering that rice bran oil, got a delivery last night and the guy handed us someone else's docket with our own one, the people bought one carton of mil and 5 of the alfa rice bran oils (20 litres worth!).

Unfortunately for them, the bran oils were out of stock so all they got was the milk, which was less than their tenner off voucher. Bargain fail

    • Yeah looks like out of stock. I ordered two 4L cans, Woolies delivered 8 1L bottles which was nice of them!

    • Usually when that happens they refund the out of stock item and if enough was out of stock the delivery too. Sounds like all they ended up with was some free milk.

  • It work for me. I just submitted my order line for delivery. It also free delivery.

  • +8

I refuse to buy anything that's not half price.

  • Still working.

On my 4th order and still getting free delivery (although in the end I opted for the same time slot as my 3rd order).

Ordered at 9.53am for delivery at 1.30-4.30pm today - pretty snappy!

Well done Woolies (& that's coming from an Aldi fanboy!).

  • Tobacco & Cigarettes not eligible ……..

    • +11

      Good.

  • Be careful. I bought using the other entertainment code, which I was entitled to use as I am an entertainment member. It took $10 off the cart, but when I went to check out, the discount disappeared. I went back, added it again. The discount was deducted and then went and did check out. By that time I was distracted and did not noticed that (again) the discount was not applied. I paid the full amount. Luckily they allow cancellations.

    • WOW! Didn't realise you could cancel and you can 'amend'.

I just amended - at 10.23am - an order placed last night and got the $10 off, & it is still due to be delivered at 1.30-4.30pm. I am seriously impressed! So now I have the $10 off each of two $50+ orders & free delivery.

The more you buy, the more you save! :)

      • +1

Be careful when you amend. A couple of days ago my wife wanted to change a small detail, clicked amend and it turns out the whole order was cancelled. Then, when she tried to place a new order, the voucher code triggered the 'maximum use reached' error - no discount, no new order.

Even worse: our giftcard has been charged for the original order, but that amount has not been refunded when the order was cancelled.

Glad we have a new voucher code now, thanks OP! So at least I managed to get the products at the price we wanted to pay. Now we only have to sort out the mess with the gift card balance…

        • This happened to us a few weeks ago. They couldn't give us a credit to the gift card so they gave us a promo code to use for the value. It meant we had to order online again to use the promo code but with all these bonuses Woolies has been throwing around it wasn't an issue.

        • Yes, chasing up a refund for out of stock items is a pain when you've paid by gift card. Called up yesterday, gave them bank details to refund the money, then today had to call again because they had trouble processing it, hopefully it sticks this time. You'd think they'd want to encourage gift card payment but they don't make it easy..

        • This is what happened when I ordered some items last week. They refunded my gift card payment by issuing voucher code. But it has an expiry date of a month - 3 weeks to be exact. I was told if I got a refund of $80, I need to buy more than that in one go to get the money back. Too much hassle for one order, so for heavily discounted items, click and collect is better.

        • when i got a refund from masters after paying by gift card, they sent me a gift card out in the mail (which took quite a while). paying by gift cards online definitely has some disadvantages

        • I received a voucher code as refund for out-of-stock items (paid using gift card). How long should I wait for the voucher to be ready? I got a message "Sorry, your Coupon: ***** does not appear to be recognised by us".

    • my discount was shown part way through checkout but on confirmation had disappeared… Rang woolies, they told me to check my bank, and when i did it was the correct amount with discount… glitches in the system

    • same thing happened to me once. I called the woolies online number on the confirmation and when I told them that I can see the bank transaction and it is reflecting an extra $10, they happily credited the $10 back.

      • i've noticed that the code disappears when you go back a screen. i had to cancel one order of my previous orders because the code disappeared

  • good stuff! thx!

  • Just did it.

FYI, if you have less than $50 in the shopping cart then entering the code will result in an error message: "Sorry, you are not eligible for this coupon promotion. Please call our Customer Service Team on 1800 000 610 for assistance.".

As soon as your amount hits $50 or above the coupon code is valid all of a sudden and you get $10 off.

Also, you can do this muiltiple times (ie. in separate transactions). When I was playing around to get that error message, I saw that I also had $10 off applied to my code.

Finally, delivery is still FREE (assuming you don't order in a massive amount of heavy items), so just click on your home address for the prefered delivery and you will see an additional discount taken off for your delivery. In my case delivery was $13 and so I saw a -$13 for delivery discount added to my invoice.

    Regards
    Daniel

PS: I also used my Woolworths GIFT card to pay for this and so I implicitly get another 5% discount as I paid $475 for my $500 card thanks to the Entertainment Book

    • +6

"As soon as your amount hits $50 or above the coupon code is valid all of a sudden and you get $10 off."

you just figured out how $10 off $50 works?

      • Eric,

It was really more so that people who put in the code and see the error message (when they are < $50 due to tweaking of their order) do not suddenly think the code is not working and give up or post that it does not on these forums.

I was surprised when I saw this error message as I would have hoped that it would say something like, "You have not met the specified minimum amount to use this coupon" or something like that.

        Regards
        Daniel

  • Thanks OB :)

  • +7

Thanks for sharing.I believe the code is for then ENT book user who haven't got a chance to use the previous code which was exposed in ozbargain and has been abused. Now the old code is so well known that almost 1/3 of people living in my area know it, even people don't know English and don't know internet. Everyone loves bargain. Please think about the people who spend money to purchase the ENT book but don't have the chance to get the bargain from it because it's abused here and spreaded out. When using it, please use it the right way, think about the win-win way for both parties.

    • I think there's another way to look at this - if it's so easy to 'abuse' the discount code system, then maybe they should change the system, eg to use some kind of unique code that comes from each entertainment book along with the actual alpha code - ?

If I had bought the entertainment book, and was prevented from the using the codes in there, I would in equal measure blame Oz Bargainers and Woollies. In my experience, most people don't use even 5% of the discounts available from those entertainment books anyway.

Seirra Tuna better then the 3X for $6 for 200 grams

    Also

The porterhouse steak is not too bad either.

  • I think if people actually have the Ent book, I suggest they call Woolies on the 1800 number and explain that they are "genuine buyers of the Ent book - here's my m'ship number and so plse proceed w' my order".

  • rice bran oil is out of stock

  • Where are the placed orders on your account? I noticed in the email that i had YES for substitute but want to see if I can change it.

    • Bottom of page- PAST ORDERS

    • +1

your orders are under "My Favourites" on the RHS near top, which was confusing to me initially.

i don't know if you can do what you want. apparently amending an order cancels it (it gives you a long warning prompt about it).

there is an option in your account settings for default substitution options, but it always seem to ignore my settings.

      • +1

Got it thanks guys. Was expecting it to fall under My Account.

Yeh says you have to cancel, I won't bother. Hopefully if they have to substitute, they will ask first.

  • Sometimes i wonder whether i'm better off just looking at the online catalog to target items…

    • Seemed like a good idea but I just tried it and the specials didn't match up with the catalogue.

      • I thought the specials were priced identically - whether online or in-store.
        Looks like i'm wrong.

        • +1

most specials are the same online - make sure you have the older catalogue as the ones online are usually for the following week
