[RSVP Required] Free Screening of Renoir + Food

120

I actually went to the first screening on Sydney's George St. and they did not ask me anything to be able to go into the cinema where the movie was shown (by that I mean I.D. or an email confirmation of my RSVP), they only question was if I was there for the Renoir screening, which I said yes… I did get a free large popcorn and a bottle of Sprite (limited to one) mostly people over 50s and the movie was OK, French film with subs and a bit artsy with a lot of breasts, if you're not into these types of movies you'll fall asleep, I suppose you don't need to RSVP at this point just show up but if you're up to it RSVP, the session I went was 1/3 full, a great waste of space, also you have to endure a 10 minute Scenic Tours talk to sell you their new 2014 tours before the main movie which after all is FREE and also the popcorn and drink.

TLDR;

  1. RSVP via this link
  2. Attend at the respective time and date
  3. Listen to Scenic Tours sell for 10 minutes
  4. Enjoy the film (Renoir) and food accompaniments

Dishonestly attending a movie screening is not a bargain

    • Click on the link provided. Reserve a seat. you dont need to sneak in anywhere. plenty of seats.

      • -2

Totally agree that if you properly register it is a bargain. 'Sneaking in' is not

        Now that's a voice of reason…

The Bargain is there. Members dishonesty is his own problem and should have nothing to do with the bargain listed

    • How was he dishonest?

  • I wished you had posted the George st one.

    • Edit: Re-read OP.

Lame. NOTE: NONE LEFT FOR SYDNEY.

Also OP, for curiosities sake how did you find out about it? I don't suppose you were actually interested in a Scenic Tour?

      • I found out at the last minute actually, I got sent an email because I am a Scenic Tours email subscriber, but did not read as it was in my junk mail by mistake.

  • But the movie is FREE and I believe it hasn't come out for general release if at all.

From your post you said you would need to 'pretend' and 'sneak in'. Is this honest behavior? Just because it is possible to steal a car does not make it a bargain to do so.

also you have to endure a 10 minute Scenic Tours talk to sell you their new 2014 tours before the main movie

turn up 10 minutes late :)

  • Look, you could RSVP if you want if that makes you feel better… but I doubt that will make such a difference as they don't even ask for confirmation of your RSVP…

  • You could just for a dare try to sneak in…

  • +1

How about changing whole OP to just "click link to RSVP for free screening of the movie. I went and also got a drink and popcorn"

Much better without all the immoral stuff

    • Except I cannot think of much worse then a large popcorn and a bottle of Sprite.

  • How is it dishonest, look if you want to feel better, sign up as an Scenic Tours subscriber {free} and RSVP, problem solved.

  • Fixed the post, now you Saint Flanders go and RSVP the movie…

    • Sure. Have a crack at me for calling out that dishonesty is not what you should be promoting. Thanks for the post and free movie tip. If you feel that there is nothing wrong with suggesting sneaking in to a movie that is by invite then I just question your ethics and morals and will leave it at that. I will retract my neg as the post now is a legitimate bargain.

      • I suppose you're right, but I did RSVP, I only suggested the sneaking in for the people who couldn't RSVP as this offer was only meant for Scenic Tours members only not he general public, now i is going to be OzBargained!

  • Sprite wasn't the only drink, they had Coke, Fanta, water and some other drinks, so you Sprite haters don't despair!

  • Too late for melbourne, but a free movie is always a good deal

Scenic Tours is probably going to be wondering about sudden surge in interest by 20- and 30-somethings, as opposed to their normal 50+ demographic. And the few old folk that do show up will probably be wondering if they accidentally signed themselves up for a Contiki tour instead…

    • If anything they will be delighted, more potential customers…

  • Here is the trailer:

    Also:
Arrive on or before the time listed, be reasonably dressed and when you get to the cinema ask the gatekeeper (who verifies the movie tickets) that you're there for the Renoir screening and can he tell you the cinema number to go to.

This is awkward. I'm the youngest person here by at least 40 years
