Vale Ale/IPA $19.99 for a 12 Pack + Free Delivery - Dan Murphy's ($65 for 24 Pack)

760
DMWEL1113

Just noticed this on the Dan Murphy's site.

Vale Ale and Vale IPA are $19.99 for a 12 pack, yet $65 for a 24 pack.

Does not offer click and collect, however there are some I've seen in Harbour Town on the Gold Coast.

Some places aren't offering click and collect but postage is free with the following code: DMWEL1113.

That's almost 40% cheaper for buying 2x 12 packs.

  • nice find timmev. you may want to add delivered only as it doesn't offer click and collect. cost for regional VIC adds $12 for example.

    • Good point!

      Will add now.

      • looks like click and collect works for some timmev so you can change the title again 87)

  • Uncle Dan, you've done it again! I am certainly looking forward to satiating my undying thirst with a few cartons of this nectar.

    Grog standards.

  • +2

Doesn't even appear as available in store for SA!

    • Probably cant beat coopers so they dont bother.

      • +2

I'd go the Vale IPA over Coopers almost any day, especially at this price. The other Vale beers are pretty ordinary though.

Pissed off this isn't available anywhere in Adelaide.

  • +1

I got click & collect in Perth. Thanks.

    • Same, the IPA has Click and Collect at Balga

      • just tried C&C for Balga and didn't work, BUGGER!!!

  • +1

Click & Collect worked fine for me. Looking forward to this. Big up yourself.

  • click n collect in Boronia, VIC
    thanks OP!!!
    Awesome beer

  • +1

Damn, great deal! I haven't tried the Ale, but the IPA is very nice. Click and collect worked for me as well.

  • Great price but no stock at my locals. They have IPA in Kingsford and Strathfield (Syd) and Ale at Hurstville as my closest….for one case of IPA at Kingsford it's hardly worth it.

    • +1

I just nabbed the 1 case of IPA.

      • Just couldn't be bothered with the 15-20 minute each way trip….enjoy!

samoan beer is much better, this is shit

    • +3

  • Bought. Thanks OP

    • Let the hops soothe your worries.

  • Was thinking of just getting a six pack of decent beer tonight, this is much better for the same price, thanks. No problem with Click & Collect Southern River WA.

  • -1

Does anyone have some coupons for Dan Murphy's :D

  • DM has removed click and collect from South Melbourne, only delivery is available now.

  • ordered a case of each…hopefully the stock info for my local store is accurate

  • +9

    Promo Code: DMWEL1113, free dilivery
Offer runs from 14 November 2013 to 20 November 2013
    Enjoy all :)

    • Thanks :D

    • Doesn't work for me… this is probably only for wine & spirits

    • need to add some wine or spirits to the order for that one though (don't you? )

    • Awesome … got some sparkling Red. You can just add the $2.99 bottle of whatever though to activate the code successfully.

    • +2

Added Bowler's Run Semillon Sauvignon for $3, then 2 Vale Ale cases. Came to < $43 delivered. Order confirmed. Use this code!

    • edit: Please Ignore.
Hmm, code didn't work for me in Victoria, still charging $28 for 4 12 packs, any trick to it?

      • Got to add a wine in. (Fortified won't do, red/white is OK)

  • +1

Nice find! Bought 1 each, click and collect from Hoppers Crossing 3029! Thanks.

  • Bought one of each :D Thanks OP

P.s. Vale Ale was rated #1 Craft Beer in Australia in 2010 (http://craftypint.com/features/post/hottest-100-aussie-craft…)

    Super happy!

    • The Vale Ale is pretty 'meh' imo (but still good at this price). The IPA is nice though.

    • So, I just picked up 1x boxed case of each Pale Ale/IPA from Epping, VIC:

"BEST AFTER 30/10/12" - Yep, they're a >1 year old! Happy with that though, as they're only $1.6 a neck, and will make excellent bottles for future home-brews.

      • Well I don't feel so bad about them not being available in Adelaide now.

This turns the Vale IPA deal from great to okay.

  • +3

Added a bottle of gossips to the cart (http://danmurphys.com.au/product/DM_334645/gossips-sweet-lip…)
    Used DMWEL1113 for free delivery
    badabing

  • thanks! I got one for pick up.

    very happy.

  • Added a bottle of red and the coupon to get free delivery on 4x12 packs.
    I love you guys!

  • Thanks bought 2. And also thanks for the tip about the wine.

  • Probablly very old stock, last few times I've had the IPA which is good for the price fresh it's been over a year old and lost all hop aroma and taste.

    • was it beyond the expire date ?
      if so just return it.

    • +1

And that's why I'm the wanker who always looks to the back of the fridge or shelf and checks the dates, and why I usually refuse to buy from breweries who don't date their bottles.

  • I do like the fact they have allowed the use of WISH cards online … hello extra 5% off!

  • Nup, can't get the free delivery code to work, even with wine added.

Tried logging out, adding wine first then beer, entering code at various stages, nothing doing. It accepts the code but doesn't apply the discount. Maybe it's cause I'm in a regional area or sumthin.

    • Same with me. They want $36 delivery for 2 12 packs and 1 cleanskin. I live in a regional area too.

      • My delivery charge only got deducted once i got to adding my billing address stage but before that it was showing $21 standard delivery

    • The site removes the delivery cost on the last page.

      • I've arrived at the page where it redirects me to Paypal to "submit my order" and they still want $36 delivery. I'm not game to click any further.

  • Got 1 each to be delivered with a bottle of wine.

I am just wondering if it is only me or anyone else ?
When I try to use my Wish Gift card it checkes the balance properly but I cannot proceed further as it says in red "enter your card details". But I have already entered gift card details, and there is no field to do it again.

PS I use Internet Explorer 8.

  • Got 1 Ale & 1 IPA for click & collect at Blacktown NSW

  • Thanks OP! Got two cartons with free delivery with a $2.50 bottle of wine.

  • Bought 2 more cases + 1 cheap bottle wine for free delivery. Oh yeah!

  • Thanks OP! Grabbed one of each and a bottle of the Bowlers Run for free delivery!

  • anyone received an email or sms indicating their click and collect was ready? I chose '2 hours' but havent had anything yet

  • Expired

This beer, and other VALE beers are pretty darn average. They had a tilt at a premium but the blend is just not there and it tastes everage. The IPA is better than the pale.

    • I am not a huge fan - look, it's perfectly serviceable but there is better out there - but I have had a couple of their small batch beers on tap and they were delicious.

  • Expired!

  • Picked up mine, expired almost a year ago! 11/12

I know technically beer doesn't go bad and can still be drunk after expiry, but all the bottles have yellowish sediment collection at the bottom and the ipa bottles have small sediments floating around.

I don't think I want to drink this, taking them back.

    • +2

      Best 'after' date?

      • From the Coopers Website:

"Under Australia’s food laws, any product that lasts more than two years in the bottle does not require a best before date. The best after date was introduced to ensure that the minimum two weeks required for secondary fermentation has expired before the bottles are distributed for sale."

        http://www.coopers.com.au/about-us/faqs#Why_do_Coopers_ales_have_'best_after'dates_instead_of'best_before'_dates?

    • +1

Sediments are quite normal for quality craft beers. Tip: tip it on its side, roll it gently for a couple of minutes, tip to the correct orientataion, then crack it open :)

      • +1

No, leave it upright, open bottle, start pouring into glass, stop pouring once you see yeasty stuff about to come out. Leave 15-20mls of yeasty stuff in bottle.

        • I generally prefer drinking without the yeast too, but there's no real 'right or wrong' answer, it's mostly personal preference.

Look at wheat beers; drinking them with the sediment is a major factor of the style.

    • It'll still be perfectly safe to drink, but the main thing is that the hops will have died down in flavour, aroma and bitterness, so if you like your hops then it's not going to be nearly as nice as when it was fresh.

  • Wow it's so hard to read the writing on the glass, I just looked at the numbers.

Yes, BEST AFTER. So, it's all good?

    • All good! (See above)

    • If you don't want them and are in Melbourne, I'll take them off you!

  • Placed order online, only to get a call 20 minutes later to say they didn't have the stock (at Strathpine). The girl mentioned its a deleted line - so don't expect we'll see this deal again.

Lets see if the next, miles to buggery away, store has any…

  • +1

That's a good price. I normally buy mine at $25 for 12, but that price is quite common. Not to crap on this deal (it is a good one) but IPA fanatics may want to try the Galaxy IPA by Beechworth Brewery.

    • $25 for 8?

Do let us know when you get the Beechworth for $20 for 12!

      • +1

Nope, Beechworth is not in the same price range. Apologies if I implied that. Just a completely different suggestion all together for the beer "coin sirs" out there.

    • i didn't think much of their Galaxy IPA - I much prefer the Bling or even Bling Bling

  • I missed it by 1 minute.

  • +1

I'm sucking back an ice cold IPA right now.

  • Missed the beer, but used the free delivery code to restock on wine for Xmas. :)

  • Got it before it expired. Thanks OP.

  • Dan murphy's just called… said that there had been a "glitch in the system" and that there was no stock for me to pick up at my selected store…

She also said "that's why we're processing refunds" (note the plural… will more people be receiving this call?!)

    • I picked mine up successful from Charlestown today

  • Plenty left at Parkwood.

Don't make me go back and buy them all.

    http://i44.tinypic.com/2rmtf6p.jpg

  • Just be careful with this Vale Ale. It's very strongly flavoured beer which tastes like as if it's blended with wine and other fermenting fruit juices. It's more reminiscent of ciders than beer.

    • Most likely just the hops and yeast varieties adding a fuller bodied and perhaps fruiter flavour.

This series of beer were designed as 'gateway' craft beers - so yes, stronger in flavour than your average MegaSwill, but still very much beer :)

I'm a big fan of the IPA, big on flavour and alcohol content! Another bang-for-buck fuller flavour (esp. the hops) ale is the Atomic Pale Ale.

      • second the above.. Atomic and Vale Ale IPA great beers

    • Yup, especially the IPA will taste very flavoursome but guaranteed there is no wine or whatever in the mix. What you're tasting is just a hoppy beer.

  • Just got a call from DM online saying system error no stock.
    Order cancelled. Oh well.

    • +1

      Me too :(

  • Just got a call from DM online saying system error and no stock on the Vale Ale but had 1 IPA and the el-cheapo wine that I added in for free delivery. Asked if I can get the IPA and cancel the wine for free delivery, they were happy to do that. Win. :)

  • Had the call yesterday morning saying that my Ale had to refunded due to no stock.
Was told my IPA and a cheap bottle of plonk was still good and got emails for both saying they are on the way!

Then get the next call this morning saying sorry but the IPA is now also cancelled due to no stock!

    What a bloody debacle DM

I cancelled the cheap wine and they offered me a $10 gift card for the hassle.

  • +1

Interesting… got a call from DM advising me that they had no Vale Ale, cancelled that part of my order, refunded me shipping and cost of the case, but said they will still ship the IPA (mind you the refund hasn't come through yet, but I did get an email from Dan's saying that they have processed the refund today).

Just got home… and there is a case of IPA and Vale Ale sitting there! So looks like they might have only charged me $19 + $7 shipping for both :)

    • you will get refund soon, and its all free. :).

  • My 2 IPA cases were delivered today, thanks DM.

  • I paid $19.99 and got my 12 Pack Vale IPA a few days ago.
I tried it yesterday. Definitely not what I expected.
Most likely it is just because it is IPA and I am not a big fan of IPAs anyway.
If anyone wants to get 12-1 = 11 stubbies from me for fifteen bucks please let me know.
I leave in Eastern suburbs of Adelaide.

  • Damn you Dan Murphy's.

So my entire order got cancelled and they said due to no more stock etc etc

Well I was just going through the DM site and fark me if I don't come across
the Vale IPA for sale and available for click and collect at my local in 2 hours time.

Think a lot of us have been screwed with this BS.
