XBOX 360 E 4GB Console $149 Shipped with 2 Games (MicrosoftStore)

200

Was hoping to snag a cheap Xbox 360 E 4Gb Console on the BigW deal but I was too slow on the uptake. I looked around and saw MicrosoftStore had them listed at $169.00 with Free Delivery, plus you can select 2 games from a short list to throw in free (games includes a few kids Kinect games, Gears of War 3 or GOW Judgement Day, Halo 4) etc.

The site is showing 6 days remaining on a "Sale Frenzy" promo (but no expiry date explicityly given).

When checking out, the discount was actually $50 giving a total of AUD$149.00 delivered for the Xbox 360 E 4GB console + 2 Games + Delivery. Couldn't find a better current deal on the web for that particular model. Hope that helps someone!

What a great review, it lists lack of Blu Ray as one of the negatives.

    • Basically the price. I did some checking on the differences and pros and cons of this new model and the cons weren't an issue for my needs. This one is for the kids Xmas pressie, and the bank balance couldn't stretch another $100 for the other models unfortunately (even though I realise they are obviously better).

If you actually read that review I think it shows that the product is great if you can get it for a good price.

The biggest problem is that you lose the dedicated optical audio out but you still can get surround sound via HDMI, you also lose one USB port leaving you 4 (enough) and you only start with 4GB of HDD space.

Compared to the S model the E model is marginally smaller, quieter and cooler. Its design is more in keeping with the new XBox One, it keeps its IR port and in built Wi-Fi.

Meaning this is a very good gaming console with fantastic media player functionality for $149 that comes with 2 games and free delivery. Colour me impressed.

I bought an OUYA for $99, compare that to this. What the frig was I thinking?

      • Same for me with the OUYA, at least the OUYA makes a good XBMC Streamer - Much better/faster at it than my Pi or ATV2 ever did.

I have an OUYA. if you bought one hoping for processing power, then it was a terrible decision from the start. OUYA does what it sets out to. It provides an outlet for indie game developers to get their games out, it provides a marketplace for people who want to try something a little off mainstream, it is a great place to fire up your roms, it's a shits and giggle machine that pats you on the back for trying something different.

I have had more fun playing a "No Breaks Valet" tournament at a LAN than I had playing AAA titles.

        • If you wrote that post trying to educate me, it was a foolish idea.

I'm well aware of the ability of the OUYA, the biggest problem is the quality of games. They are not that great. I've liked TowerFall enough to buy it, but nothing else as I probably have the other good ones on my Android devices.

For $149 you can get an XBox 360 which can be used as a brilliant all media device, supporting not just AAA games but also indie games. Many of the older AAA games are now at a low price and are still excellent fun.

    ugh have to resist…

Bit silly including kinect games when the console doesn't actually come with a kinect

    • That is true! Maybe they hope you add the Kinect games as the freebies, and then when you buy it and get it home, realise you need to go and buy the Kinect accessory at full price? :P

  • Pretty ordinary games from the list.

    • GOW and Halo 4 are supposed to be Ok aren't they? Agree the rest look sub-par though.

      • If you haven't played GoW 1 then go play it. Highly recommended.

  • Thanks PCAviator, I was looking for a deal on a 360 so that I could have a spare locked away for a few years and this was perfect as I didn't yet have Halo 4 or GOW Judgement so to me it was like a half price console.

    • No worries. Missing the BigW deal sent me looking so I'd secure one for the kids before I spent their assigned xmas money on other bills :) The younger one only wants it for Minecraft but the older one will probably enjoy the GOW and Halo games I chose so the deal was hard to pass up. Adding Minecraft at $25 means I get them both what they want for about $87 each. Can't complain about that!

      • Sounds good in theory tillrhey each want to play their own game at the same time….

That's when you invoke a lost art form called 'discipline' and teach your kids to share :)

        • Do you have kids?

  • Is 4GB enough just to play physical disc games? Sorry if it's a stupid question I never own an Xbox before

    • In most cases. Xbox 360 doesn't require you to install games in most cases, usually just small content patches but nothing that is going to excessively eat into your 4GB hard drive space.

You can plenty of games relatively comfortably with 4GB of HDD. You may want to upgrade later as your collection of titles starts to grow.

It only matters if you buy games off Xbox LIVE Arcade, but with so many full version games relatively cheap now and a fairly large library, I think there's more than enough titles to entertain you before considering an Xbox One or PS4.

      • Thanks, I just bought the 4GB with GOW:Judgement and Halo 4

Hopefully I'll enjoy my very first XBOX
